Yesterday was my twenty-two-year-old birthday. Unlike most of the same-aged peers who spend their birthday high in clubbing. I am drowning with webtoon work and preparation for my thesis exhibition.
Mum, Dad, and Jiwoo are really accommodating to my tight schedule and came down to Seoul to treat me a nice dinner at Namsan Tower. After that, I have to get back home to rush for my new webtoon entry.
Yoongi must be really busy. They have a schedule in Japan yesterday and probably haven't flown back yet. Frankly speaking, I was a little disappointed about not receiving a birthday message from him. But it would be too much to demand from a person who does not even have enough sleep.
🦉Jihye: I'm glad that I still have you, seol-tang.
Seol-tang has grown into a grown, young adult cat that loves to sleep a lot. Sometimes it can be a little boring since seol-tang doesn't entertain me when it comes to playing. Still, seol-tang is really sweet and allows me for an endless belly rub and snuggles.

I look out to the cat eye, it's a guy wearing a baseball cap holding two boxes.
Perhaps it's the package that mum mentioned yesterday.
I opened the door and to my surprise, the guy with a baseball cap put his head up. It is Yoongi!
🐱Yoongi: Happy Belated Birthday!
Seeing Yoongi right in front of me, my eyes turn red and teary. I can't really control my emotions. I started sniffing.
🦉Jihye: I thought you are still in Japan?
🐱Yoongi: I'm back this morning, but there's an impromptu magazine photoshoot after we landed. Sorry, I couldn't even send you a birthday message yesterday.

🦉Jihye: It's alright. Seeing you is now the best gift. Come in first.
Yoongi passes me the two brown paper wrapped boxes.
🐱Yoongi: Here's your birthday presents.
🦉Jihye: Thank you. But why there's two?
🐱Yoongi: One for this year, another for last year. Open it!
We sat down at the couch and open the bigger box first (according to Yoongi). It is an slate.
🦉Jihye: Wow! I always wanted this but it's not available domestically. This is really popular among the webtoon artist!
🐱Yoongi: I saw this when I was in New York in July and plan this as a birthday gift.
I am so touched by Yoongi's thoughtfulness. I move forward and give him a big hug "Thank you, Min Yoongi."
Yoongi looks really proud of himself. His smile says everything.
🐱Yoongi: Open the second box.
His voice seems to be more excited when it comes to the second box. So I open it up. It is an Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Headphone.
Yoongi always looks so enthusiastic when it comes to music. He helps me unwrap the headphone, and position it nicely between my ears. He then plugged the cable to his phone and click on his playlist. His facial expression now looks more serious.
He just keeps looking at me, watching my reaction.
The intro music started playing,

He gently took down the headphone from me, I can still hear the music playing from the end of headphones on my shoulders.
His eyes are so crystal clear, looking back at me. My heart beats faster and faster when his face gradually came close to me. I close my eyes, anticipating that soft yet passionate kiss. I could feel that our lips almost touch each other.
Delivery guy: Anybody home? You have a package!

Nothing can be more annoying than a delivery guy interrupting the most important moment of my life!
Yoongi went back to his seat on the couch looking awkward. I can only act as if nothing happened and open the door to collect the package.

🦉Jihye: It's the package from my mum... She promised to send some side dishes from home.
Unwillingly, I am unpacking the boxes of side dishes and place them into the fridge. Yoongi walks to me and wraps me up with a back hug. He caresses my hair and puts them behind my ear.
🐱Yoongi: Shall we continue...?
He turns me around to face him once again. His hands are grabbing my shoulders and he lowered down his head ...

and maybe it's just not meant to be. Because this time, it is his phone ringing.

🐱Yoongi: Got it. I'll be back soon.
Yoongi ended the call disappointedly.
🐱Yoongi: Sorry. There's an impromptu meeting for the concert.

🦉Jihye: Thank you for the birthday gift. I really like them a lot.
🐱Yoongi: The concert in November. You will come, will you?
🦉Jihye: Eung. I plan to buy the first and last day's ticket.
🐱Yoongi: Skip the buying. I'll get the tickets from the company.

Yoongi stepped into the elevator and press the lift button for the ground floor. The elevator door then gradually close.
I was about to make my way back to my unit. The elevator door opened again. Yoongi stepped out and hold my face with his two hands and kiss my cheek firmly. He then let go of me and went back to the elevator.
🐱Yoongi: I will get back to the lips next time.
He then pressed the close button and this time. This time, the elevator door really closed.

Lying on the bed and thinking back. I'm left with so many mixed emotions. So many things... so many things that could have made it a perfect night!
