《Fortnite: The Great Flood》Chapter 1: Going Home

Skye Nimbus stuffed her bacon and eggs into her mouth messily.

"Skye, you are so messy!" Skye's friend/carer, Ollie, exclaimed.

"To be fair though, this food is great," TnTina, explosions specialist, shrugged.

"Yes! Midas, I never knew you were such a good cook!" Brutus, leader of the henchmen, complimented.

Midas, the golden-touched boss of Ghost, poked his around the door. He was wearing a golden chef's hat and matching apron, and in one golden hand he held a frying pan with a golden handle.

"Why, thank you!" Midas grinned.

Skye giggled. It appeared that ever since his master plan went into action a month ago, and sent the agents outside the Loop for a brief time, Midas was incredibly happy and energetic and made fancy meals sometimes.

Skye rejoiced in the memory of the time he made pancakes and last night when he made pizza... from scratch.

This was one of the greatest months of Skye's life. But she knew it would end soon. Tomorrow, the agents were to head to the new Agency, called The Fortilla, and when work came down on Midas, he would be his grumpy self again.

And, besides, the time wasn't perfect. Skye was hoping to spend some time with Jules, Ghost's engineer and undercover agent, but that seemed impossible. She was over on the island doing some final touches to The Fortilla.

Same with Joe. He was stationed at a Ghost base on the mainland. And where was Skye? At Midas' mansion in the UK of course.

But, some of her friends were there. Playing on the British countryside meadows under the Summer sun with Kit was a blast, and there was always a tree to practice knife throwing with Maya. Skye was actually getting pretty good, although she still preferred her sword.

When Skye finished her last rash of bacon, she left the table and went with Ollie to her room.

She opened the door and flopped onto her bed like she used to, and Ollie turned into a hat and hopped onto Skye's head.

Skye and Ollie had a whole room to themselves, a large posh suite that sat untouched since only Midas lived here usually. Skye had made the room her own since she had a feeling that eventually she would be going back there. But, although it was more comfortable than her room back in The Agency, it wasn't home. But it would have to do.

And it was good. As Skye mentioned before, there was plenty of things to do here, and she didn't have to worry about her job until she went back to the island.

The island.

What state was it in now that the Wall of Water had collapsed and flooded everything?

Skye knew that Jules was making the new Agency near where The Rig and Slurpy Swamp were. And, according to more recent plans, Jules had made an advanced base at the Box Factory she called Catty Corner - obviously made for Meowscles and Kit.

Also, according to her, Shadow had set up a new base where The Agency used to be called The Authority. What freaked Skye out was how The Authority and The Agency were almost identical.

And as for the old bases, The Rig was in ruins (Jules was using scraps from it to aid in the creation of the new Agency), The Grotto had been flooded and caved in, The Shark was in tatters and The Yacht (to Midas' annoyance) had gone rusty. Deadpool had been to The Yacht already and done some customization of it.

However, the biggest news to Skye was that there were to be new Ghost agents when they returned that were helping out already. That was some potential for some new friends!

Full of excitement, Skye rushed over to her desk and took out a book from her backpack.

"Watcha doing, Skye?" Ollie asked.

"I'm making a plan for when we go back to the island!" Skye answered.

"Cool!"

Skye flicked through the pages of the book and saw the words "Plan to get Deadpool" on the most recent page. Skye remembered that day; she, Ollie, TnTina and Brutus had discussed battle plans on how to get Deadpool over breakfast.

It was so much simpler then. No Device. No dreams. No Oro. No Loop. Skye wished she could go back, but that was impossible.

Or was it?

No! No more wild goose chases! They'd been on enough of those. The last thing she needed to do was see herself or alter history or something. She'd seen enough sci-fi movies to know that.

Eventually, Skye wrote the following:

Plan to have fun on the new island!

By Skye :)

1. Make new friends.

2. Explore the flooded island.

3. Do NOT go back in time.

4. Help when needed.

5. Have fun! :D

Yes. That was good. Not that detailed, but then again, did it have to be?

"Let's do some scrapbooking," Ollie suggested.

"Why?"

"No reason. How about we scrapbook your plan?"

"Sure!"

Skye got a half full scrapbook out of her backpack and started cutting up photos and drawings.

Joe span around on his spinny chair. He was bored out of his mind. Bored bored boooooored.

He wished that he could spend some time with Skye or anyone other than the henchmen in his office block. Literally anyone el-

Ring ring ring!

Joe fell off of his seat, then got back on hurriedly and answered the phone.

"Hey? Joe?" It was Jules!

"Y-Yes! That's me!" Joe answered precariously.

"Hi! Uh... So you know how the agents are supposed to be coming to the island tomorrow?"

"Yes?"

"Well, I thought maybe you'd like to see them when they arrive. There's a Choppa in Hangar 2A waiting for you. Go whenever you're ready, but preferably today."

"Yes, ma'am! I'll go right away!"

Joe hung up the phone and started scurrying around his desk packing his belongings into boxes.

"Where you going, Joe?" Finn, the henchman across from Joe, asked.

"I'm going home," he replied, before walking off.

All Finn could do was gawk at him as he left the office block.

Skye dragged her suitcases behind her to Midas' private jet.

When Midas said that he had a private jet that morning, Skye couldn't help but be excited. She had never been on one before, and she always dreamed of doing it.

"This is so exciting!" Ollie echoed Skye's thoughts from upon her head.

"I know! I wanna run there, but I don't think my legs can take it," Skye giggled.

"Who says we have to run?"

Ollie jumped off of Skye's head and turned into his spherical form. It didn't take Skye 5 seconds to figure out what that meant. So, within a minute, Skye and Ollie began to fly up the stairs to the roof.

"You're late... as usual," Midas said when they burst through the doors.

But Skye wasn't concentrating on him. She was concentrating on the private jet.

Because that private jet wasn't an ordinary private jet. If Skye was correct, that was the jet from her dreams. The one that she met Midas in.

"Oh? You recognise it? I figured that you'd want to see it. You too, Ollie," Midas explained.

"Is this the real thing?" Ollie gasped before turning into a hat again.

"You bet."

Skye slid her fingers along the black shiny metal plating almost as if the vehicle would make her memories more vivid. As if they weren't real enough.

Walking inside, the seats were the same as the old ones, but the colours were all faded. That and the other agents were inhabiting them.

"Took you long enough! Let's go home!" TnTina cheered.

Skye stuffed her suitcases in an overhead baggage area before sitting herself down next to TnTina and Brutus. Ollie did the same once he turned into his humanoid form.

"Are you sure Midas knows how to drive this thing?" TnTina asked the others once they had settled in.

"I don't mind. It's nostalgic," Skye replied.

"What? You don't mind falling into the ocean and being eaten by sharks because it's nostalgic?"

"That's not what I meant!"

"This ship is a 10XCB40 model; these things are old. Perhaps Skye remembered travelling in one herself?" Brutus suggested.

"That's right!" Skye grinned.

"And I'm pretty sure Midas knows how to drive this thing."

A second after Brutus said that, the engines roared into life, shaking the ship's interior.

"That's if the ship itself isn't too old to fly. I don't think we'll be making any return trips in here," Brutus muttered to himself.

When the ship took off and made its journey to the new Agency, Skye found herself singing the theme to The Polar Express, one of her favourite Christmas movies. It was the middle of Summer, yet somehow Christmas still managed to slip through.

Once everyone joined in, the journey became a full on Christmas sing along.

However, it instantly stopped when the island came into view. Or, at least, what was left of it.

Weeping Woods and Slurpy Swamp had been smoothed to non-existance. Holly Hedges, Steamy Stacks and Salty Springs clung onto what little land they had. Lazy Lake, Retail Row, Misty Meadows and that new Catty Corner rested on a nest above the flood. In the middle of the island, the new Shadow base stood on the middle island surrounded by floodgates. It appeared that Pleasant Park, Sweaty Sands and Frenzy Farm had been saved by that insurance company No Sweat Insurance, but Craggy Cliffs had been left to the waves and was partially submerged.

So that was the island. That was what the agents had to work with.

The private jet seemed to be heading towards a scrap fortress resting on islands of trash. The Ghost logo was plastered in messy white spray paint on the red and blue metal. Tons of eco-friendly machines lay around in the sunlight, including solar panels and, well, solar panels. That had Jules written all over it.

Skye smiled when she saw Jules, Joe and another girl she didn't recognise on one of the larger towers. The girl was wearing blue and had hot pink hair. And... was that Brutus' mask on her face?

"Hey guys! Glad you could make it!" Jules exclaimed when the agents got off the jet.

"Hai!" Joe waved. He was wearing white shorts instead of the usual white trousers.

"Hello!" Skye cheered and hugged them.

"This this?" TnTina asked, pointing to the girl.

"Oh, that's Ocean. She's one of our new agents. She came here to do some paperwork, and I convinced her to be an agent. I'm a pretty good boss, if I do say so myself," Jules explained.

"Hey, I'm still the boss," Midas folded his arms.

"I'm inclined to agree with Jules. I couldn't find you when I needed you, and it turns out you were on holiday," Ocean sighed.

"Ah yes. I'm sorry about that. I shall compensate you as soon as possible."

"Hey, uhh, Ocean? Could you show the agents to their rooms?" Jules interrupted.

"Gladly," Ocean nodded.

Everyone left, but when Skye tried to leave, Jules stopped her.

"Hey, Skye?" Jules whispered.

"Hi. What's wrong?" Skye whispered back.

"I need you to help me a lil bit."

"Anything."

"You see, Ocean is like you. She lost her parents to Shadow recently, and is feeling a bit down. Could you keep her happy for me please?"

"Sure!"

"Of course, you can't tell her that I told you. I want you to become friends with her. So, that means that eventually she'll tell you herself. Let's practice our surprised faces for when that happens, shall we?"

Skye put on her most exaggerated surprised face she could manage.

"Perfect! Now, go to your room!"

Skye and Jules walked down the stairs to the bedrooms just as Skye realised it was happening again: she was keeping secrets from her friends.
