《The Love That Define Us {Completed}》Shimla

The temperature dropped to a minimum of -1 degrees Celsius, cold wind, breezing with snowflakes. In the month of December, it's snowing in Shimla almost every day, making the town a "winter wonderland" as the snow sat on the Himalayan foothills.

Everything was covered in snow except few mountains where the sun was rising high and melting the snow, from lush green pine trees.

I peeked out of my car window and admired the view of Shimla covered in snow...I mean I live in Canada, and there are only two months of summer and the rest is rain and snow.

But seeing snow in my birthplace is different, it reminds me of my life here which spent here with my best friend, Sivan Rana. When we used to play in the snow, while we would go to our school, walking by the foothill paths. And in summer days the bright sun rays spread over the lush green mountains of the towns and city of Shimla-Himachal Pradesh. It was nostalgic!

One month ago I received a wedding invitation from my best friend, for his younger sister.

And now I am on my way to his house.

The car stopped in front of Sivan's house. The house was half-decorated for wedding, and a half was in the process, my eyes traveled toward the main gate, where Sivan was coming in my direction with open arms. "Hey Anuraag, How are you buddy, long time no see." He hugged me, amusedly.

"I am good, how are you?"

"I am good too, How's your flight, Anuraag?" Sivan asked as he took my suitcase out of the car.

"It was good,—Shimla has changed so much in the past few years," I said.

"Yes, It has, let me grab your bags..meanwhile why don't you go inside and meet my family?" He said.

"Okay, Thank you," and with that, I made my way inside, as I was walking my phone rang in my pocket.

"Hello, Yes, yes, I reached here safely, mom." Suddenly the light went out and I barely could see anything inside.

Damn it.

"Mom I will Call you later?" I said rubbing my head as I bumped into something or....someone?

"Okay son, bye" the call ended.

"Are you blind?" I asked rubbing my forehead.

"I can ask the same, are you blind?" A female voice said with little sarcasm.

I turned on my flashlight. Then I saw her, her medium-long black hair cascading over her shoulder, round face, sun-kissed skin, softly arched eyebrows, perfect pair of plump lips and dark black eyes.

I noticed that she was not covering her eyes despite the harsh light of a flashlight beaming on her face. "Doesn't the flashlight bothers you?" I squinted my eyes in curiosity.

She didn't say anything instead smiled softly as she was enjoying some private joke.

"Hello I am asking you" I waved my hand at her, but she didn't react.

"Are you new, here?" She asked with a little hint of sarcasm.

"Umm Yes, why?"

"Ah, that's why...you don't know that I am blind since I was 3." She raised her brows.

I winced in guilt, realizing what I said before.

"I am so sorry, Miss—

"Diya, I am Diya." She interrupted.

"And don't be sorry, you didn't know." There was warmth in her voice the way she said.

"I am Anuraag Agnihotri, and it's nice meeting you." I extended my hand but pulled away quickly.

What are you doing, Anuraag, she can't see!! you stupid.

"By the way, you didn't tell me why are you here, did you come here to meet someone?" She asked staring down blankly.

"I was—

"What are you doing here, Anuraag?" Sivan interrupted, as he approached us.

"Oh, I see you have met my sister Diya." He continued.

"Yes, it was nice meeting her," I replied vaguely even though It was more than nice meeting her.

Her face is so perfect, she is perfect. god. Get a grip Anuraag! She is your best friend's dear sister.

"Wait She is the one who's getting married?!"I asked abruptly, and but in shock.

"Yes!" Sivan's eyes lit up.

No no no, why do I feel pain in my chest and a lump in my throat. What's happening to me?!

I shook my head, hitting the reality. ''Great'' I forced a smile.

Suddenly the light came out, "oh Thank god the light came out, or else how would have we continued the sangeet (music) ceremony. Let's go Diya, get ready for the ceremony." Sivan told his sister.

Diya nodded and left towards her room.

Sivan dragged me with him and introduce me to his family, I knew that his parents died 18 years ago but surprisingly I didn't know that he had a sister when I received the invitation I thought that it's his cousin's sister but now I know.

In the ceremony, no men were allowed, except the photographer, and videographer. But somehow I saw her, she was wearing a long baby pink skirt, matching top and veil. She looked beautiful, the color suited her, complimenting her light skin.

I went to my room and changed into something comfortable, I laid on the bed, tossing and turning and thinking about why do I feel something for her, or anything for a matter!

For god sake, she's getting married in two days. And what will I do when she will get married, what would have happened if I met her before this, like walking in the park, bumping into each other, and then fell in love.

"Love," I said out loud, in a mocking tone, slapping at the back of my head, that how my mind is running. Why can't I sleep like a normal person and forgot about her?

If she could see, would she have thought about me like I am thinking about her? With my last thought, a drifted in sleep...
