《Ninjago Perfect Match Boyfriend Scenarios--Jay》Christmas

"Good morning, sunshine," you yawn when Cole stumbles down the stairs.
The black ninja rubs his eyes and collapses onto the couch. "Don't talk to me, please. I don't even know where Lloyd gets all these noisemakers."
"Does he do this every year?"
Cole nods. "He did it last year, too, and the year before that."
A loud honk comes from upstairs, followed by angry yelling. You and Cole share a look. "Kai's up."
Zane comes downstairs next, looking surprisingly awake for five in the morning. Kai staggers after him, half-asleep and with his pajamas buttoned incorrectly. Then Nya comes in, looking decently awake, followed by an excited y/b and o/b, who's trying to be grumpy but is obviously just as impatient to open presents as everyone else.
"Okay," Cole groans, sitting up. "Let's get started so we can go eat breakfast."
"Hang on," you protest. "What about Jay?"
"Uh, he said to start without him," Lloyd volunteers a little too quickly. "He's, uh, working on a surprise, and it's not quite done yet. R-right, Kai?" He elbows Kai, who's asleep on the couch next to him.
Kai jerks awake. "Huh? What? Uh, yeah, yeah, what he said."
Lloyd sighs. "Never mind. Let's just open presents! Y/n, you go first!"
"Uh, okay..." you say suspiciously. Anyone with half an ounce of sense can tell that Lloyd's up to something. Even Kai seems to be making an effort to stay awake and focus on what's going on while you circle a large box that's been conspicuously placed in the middle of the floor. A large label on the wrapping reads FOR Y/N. OPEN ME FIRST! A smaller label underneath the first one says face this side.
You aren't sure about this at all. This whole situation is screaming "prank." But you suppose the only way to find out is to open the box. You carefully untie the huge ribbon wrapped around the box, then tear away the wrapping paper. The top of the box is taped shut, and everyone else in the room leans forward in anticipation while you cut the tape, making sure to stand at arm's length.

As soon as you finish cutting through the tape, the sides of the box flop outward. You yelp and jump backward as the whole box collapses to reveal Jay dressed in his ninja gi. He's down on one knee and as soon as he sees you, he holds up a small box.
"Merry Christmas, y/n," he says nervously. "So, um, will you marry me?"

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here. Cover: original work done by me, the author, caerulex.
