I think the saying "you learn something new everyday" is a very true thing. Today, for example, I learned that Nico burns very easily, and hates going to the beach or spending any time at all out in the sun for that very reason. I told him to put sunscreen on before we went to the beach, but I'm pretty sure he skipped out on it. And most of the time I don't burn, but today was one of those rare occasions. Nico's back and shoulders had mostly burned, but he had an adorable burn across his nose, too. Of course, it probably hurt, but it was still cute. I'd gotten burned mostly in the same places, but also along the length of my arms.

Nico and I both had to lean forward in the seats of the car so we wouldn't have to bear the pain of our sunburnt backs rubbing against the seat. "I hope you have something to treat burns." Nico muttered as we ascended the stairs to our apartment.

"Yeah. It smells a bit weird though." I warned. Nico shrugged.

"As long as it gets rid of the burn, I don't care what it is." I smiled.

"You should've worn sunscreen." I replied. He looked over to me.

"You did, and you got burnt worse than me." I paused. That was true. But it didn't mean I would let him get away with it.

"That doesn't mean I'm going to let you not wear sunscreen every time we go to the beach." I replied, unlocking the door to our apartment. A blast of cool air hit me and I breathed it in. Nico seemed to absorb it as we stepped in and Nico followed me to the bathroom.

He watched as I squatted down and dug out the aloe gel from under the sink. "What the hell is that?" He asked confusedly.

"Aloe Vera gel. It's really good for burns and stuff." I replied, twisting the lid open and taking out a small scoop. "Turn around and take off your shirt." I told him, spinning my fingers gently. His brows furrowed together.

"Why?"

I rolled my eyes. "So I can put this stuff on your back." I said, gesturing for him to turn. Hesitantly, he turned and pulled his black shirt off. His pale back was flecked with small scars, some crossing, some standing out more than others. I put my hand to his back and he tensed.

"That's cold." In the mirror, I could see him frowning. "I know." I murmured, gently slathering it all over his back and shoulders.

"You're right, that stuff does stink." He muttered as I washed my hands off. He took the container and scooped out a few fingers worth of gel.

"Your turn." He told me, gesturing for me to turn around. I did so and tugged off my shirt. He paused before gently placing his hand on my back and smearing the cool substance over my skin.

"You have very nice skin." He said quietly, spreading it over my shoulders. I smiled and felt my face heat up.

"Thank you. You do too." In the mirror, his already burnt face was scarlet. I laughed.
