《Mine Again ~Book 2~》Chapter 10: My Son

"How did you like that ride?" I asked the young boy who had his hands in his pockets and didn't seem to give a care.
"Hn." Was all Sora responded with. I put a hand on his head and ruffled his hair.
"Well I definitely know your my son and Hinata didn't cheat." I murmured. I noticed Sora's face go into a mixture of sad and anger. He pushed my hand of his head.
"I know, because she isn't a cheat like someone I know." He grumbled. My heart ripped a bit.
"I know, I know." I whispered.
"But here is the point, I'm making it up to the both of you." I added. Sora scratched his chin.
"I could care less, my mom was the one who had the connection with you, not me. Bonds are harder to fix if already been broken." Sora explained. I couldn't understand how this kid looked his age but had the wise brain of a 70 year old. He is my son, that would explain a lot.
"I guess that's true, but, I need to make up the time I didn't get to spend helping you you grow up. Hinata may have a big heart but she shouldn't have so much on her shoulders." I stated. Sora had his thinking face on. Secretly I knew it did effect him. I use to do the same thing when my dad wasn't there, pretend it didn't matter to me just so it made my mother happy. Sora was just like me, but I hope he never make the same mistakes I did.
"Wanna get out of here and go watch a movie or something?" I questioned as we headed to the gates of the amusement park.
"Ya it's better than this boring place." He mumbled. I chuckled as I got out my phone.

"Better call your mom first so she doesn't think I kidnapped her angel." I said as I watched Sora's face turn red.
"You love your momma don't you? Never mind, I know you do. I'm glad you protected her." I murmured. My heart aching in the process.
"I really do." He whispered. I smiled. I dialed the beautiful indigo haired woman's number. Her voice ringing in my head.
"Well then?" I said in a questioning voice.
"Eh, better than the amusement park." He responded. My face darkened.
"But I did have fun hanging out with you." I heard him whisper as he turned away. I felt a little bit better.
"How about we go get your mom and we can go out to eat where ever you guys want to?" I asked as I watched his face turn into a questioning notion. He nodded.
"Ya sounds good." He replied.

Ortus (Old Version)
This is an old version of the heavily edited and rewritten Ortus This is the story of a woman named Riza. Riza is a woman who wakes up in a forest with nothing, remembering nothing, and on the cusp of death. The only thing she has is a weapon stuck in her side and, after a tangle with a wild boar, something called 'life aspect'. Little does she know that life magic is considered a dead-end branch and is largely outlawed across the world. None of this matters to her, of course. For one, even if someone tried to tell her, she doesn't know the language. Number two, have you heard about the sunk cost fallacy? Riza is not some chosen one, nor is given any boon she doesn't deserve. Instead, she's smart and methodical, and experiements on how to maximise every opportunity, every ability, presented to her. She doesn't just take things at face-value but instead explores just what limitations there are. This often involves maths.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
