Kagome didn't think that her life would end like this. After everything she had survived in the Feudal Era and defeating Naraku, the last thing she thought would happen was that she would get hit by a drunk driver in her era. As she lay in intensive care listening to her heart slowly fade away on the heart monitor, Kagome couldn't help but think that it was ironic that she would die the same way her father did.

Kagome took one final breath, and her heart stopped. She began to feel herself drift off into the void and was greeted by nothing but a warm, comforting feeling. In that darkness, Kagome felt safe and loved. She wondered if this was what death was supposed to feel like.

You are not dead, Dear One. A voice rang out.

Kagome looked around, searching for the source of the voice until she finally spotted something in the distance. Slowly the figure became more apparent, and Kagome gasped when she saw that it was the Priestess Midoriko.

"Midoriko, what are you doing here?" Kagome asked the older Priestess.

Midoriko smiled at Kagome, the Kamis sent me, Kagome. They thought it would be better for you to see a familiar face at this moment. I am sure you know that you have passed away in your world, yes?

Kagome nodded, "Am I in the afterlife?"

Midoriko shook her head; no, Dear One. The Kamis have decided that you are to be reborn but will be reborn in another world and into a family that desperately needs your help.

Kagome furrowed her brow, "What happens to this family, Midoriko, that they need my help?"

This family is destroyed by the actions of a woman's cruelty, negligence, and stupidity, who chooses to believe someone that only wanted the destruction of her husband's family. Her thoughtless actions led to a bloody and pointless war and countless lives lost.

Kagome was appalled; she was a Miko, even if she was dead, and it was her duty to ease the suffering of others. Kagome knew she couldn't let such a fate befall this family or land.

"What must I do, Midoriko?"

Guide them, Kagome, protect the Starks from others and from themselves. They are honorable people, perhaps too honorable for their own good. They cannot enter the Game of Thrones naive as babes, or they will not survive.

"Game of Thrones?" Kagome asked.

Midoriko sighed; you will understand in time. This will be a long and perilous journey for you, but I promise it will be worth it. And in the end, you will find love and happiness in the most unlikely place. I must go now; the time of your birth is at hand.

Catelyn Stark nee Tully was in agony. She was due to deliver her babe any moment, and she was frightened. Her mother Minisa had died shortly after giving birth to her younger brother Edmure and Cat was worried that the same fate would befall her or worse, that her baby would die. She prayed to the Mother to help her in her time of need and help her give birth to a healthy boy.

Catelyn had only been married a little over a year to Eddard Stark, a virtual stranger, since his brother, her betrothed Brandon, was murdered in the Capitol along with his father. But Catelyn did her duty; after all, those were the words of her house, Family, Duty, Honor. She married Eddard without complaint as her father demanded, but she hoped she would have a good marriage with this man, and giving birth to a son would start in the right direction.

Catelyn lay in her bed, straining to give birth to her child. Never in her life had she experienced such pain, but she knew it would be worth it when her baby was born. Maester Luwin, who had come down from Winterfell, urged her to push, and with all her might, Catelyn gave one final push, and she heard the most beautiful sound in the world; the sound of a newborn crying.

Catelyn smiled happily at hearing the sound, but her face fell slightly at the Maester's words, "My Lady, it is a girl."

Catelyn couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed that it wasn't a son until the babe was placed in her arms and she saw her daughter for the first time. Her daughter was the most beautiful baby she had ever seen, with a head full of dark hair, a petite nose, perfectly formed lips, and as white as snow. Catelyn instantly fell in love with her daughter and knew there was nothing she wouldn't do to protect her. Suddenly Catelyn gasped when the child opened her eyes; instead of having the nondescript blue eyes of a newborn, her child had silver eyes. At first, Catelyn was worried her daughter was blind but was relieved to see that her daughter tracked her movements with her eyes.

"Congratulations, My Lady. What will you name her?" Maester Luwin asked.

Catelyn stared at her daughter, that was pure Stark. She had thought to name her after her mother, but that name didn't suit her Northern daughter; Catelyn smiled, "Lyarra, Lyarra Stark."

Maester Luwin smiled and nodded, "A fine Northern name, My Lady."

Catelyn held her daughter for a while longer until she felt a contraction again. She nearly dropped Lyarra if it had not been for her maid. The maid quickly took Lyarra from her mother, and Catelyn went into labor again, birthing a son she named Robb. Unlike his twin, Robb was pure Tully, with red-brown hair and blue eyes. Once Catelyn was cleaned and dressed, her children were given to her. She held her children and stared at them in awe. The twins couldn't be more opposite, but they were perfect, and Catelyn couldn't be happier. Catelyn was so taken with her children that she refused to relinquish them to a wet nurse; she decided that she would breastfeed them herself. Her maid and Septa protested, saying it was unladylike, but Catelyn wouldn't hear of it. Maester Luwin told her that the Northern ladies did not use wetnurses unless it was necessary, and Catelyn was determined to fit in with her new people as much as possible. She knew it would be difficult and that the North would be suspicious of a Southern Lady, but she had to try for the sake of her children, Family, Duty, and Honor.

When the war ended, Lyarra and Robb were already a year old. Catelyn had received word that her husband had survived and was on his way to Riverrun, and from there, they would travel North to Winterfell. Catelyn waited impatiently for her husband's return, and the day the guards saw the banners bearing the Direwolf sigil, Riverrun became a flurry of activity. Catelyn had her children bathed and dressed in their finest clothes to look their best when they met their father.

For their part, the babies didn't understand the fuss; well, one of them didn't. Kagome, or Lyarra as she was now called, had been bored and frustrated these past few months. She hated that she had no control of her limbs or bowels and that all she did was eat, sleep and soil herself. As the months went by and Kagome started getting stronger, she decided that she was tired of pretending and started to advance faster than her brother. Kagome began crawling. First,t then walking, then soon after talking. Kagome made sure that she didn't speak as an adult but as a baby so as not to freak out her new mother and her family.

When Eddard and his retinue finally arrived at Riverrun, he was greeted by his wife, good father, and good brother. He smiled when his wife stepped forward and greeted him, "My Lord, I am happy you have returned safely, and I offer my deepest condolences on your sister's death," Catelyn told Ned.

Ned sighed sadly, "Thank you, My Lady; I appreciate the sentiment."

"Rooms and baths have been prepared for you and your men, but first, I thought you would like to meet your children."

There was a spark of excitement in Ned's eyes at the thought of meeting his children. He nodded, and Catelyn motioned for the nursemaids to come forward with her children. She took Robb from the nursemaid and presented him to her husband.

"This is your son and heir, Robb. I named him after King Robert."

Ned reached for his son, but the baby shied away from the stranger, hiding his face in his mother's neck. After a few encouraging words from his mother, Robb looked at his father and smiled, though he still refused to be held by him. Ned understood that his son didn't know him, but it still hurt. Ned noticed that his son was pure Tully; there wasn't a single resemblance of Stark in him. When Robb began to fuss, Catelyn handed him back to the nursemaid and Lyarra into her arms.

"And this is your firstborn, Lyarra. I named her after your mother," Catelyn informed her husband.

Lyarra, unlike her brother, stared at her father and smiled brightly at him. She reached out for him, wanting to be held by Ned. Ned tentatively took his daughter and studied her face as she studied his. Ned was in awe of the baby's beauty and marveled at how much she resembled his mother, though instead of having the typical grey Stark eyes, Lyarra's eyes were a bright silver that shone with intelligence. Lyarra stared at her father, then squealed and slapped both of her hands on the side of Ned's face, "Dada!" She shouted, startling Ned.

Ned looked up at his wife, who was also shocked by her daughter's outcry, and at that moment, Eddard Stark fell in love with his daughter and knew that he would do anything to ensure her safety and happiness. She would be the light in his dismal life.

"She's beautiful, My Lady. Lyarra will grow up to be a great beauty of the North, and Robb is a fine-looking lad," Ned said pridefully as he tried to hand Lyarra back to her mother.

But Lyarra protested and refused to let go of Ned. Ned chuckled, "You want to stay with me, Sweetling?"

Lyarra nodded in response, surprising Ned. He looked at his wife.

"Lyarra understands more than Robb does, and her speech is getting better. Maester Luwin says she is a prodigy."

At that moment, the sound of a baby's cry was heard, and Catelyn looked at the man who she recognized as Howland Reed. Ned signaled for Howland to come forward, and when he did, Ned shifted Lyarra to his other arm and took the bundle from Howland. He walked toward Catelyn and presented Jon to her, "Lady Catelyn, this is my bastard, Jon Snow; he will be coming with us to Winterfell."

Catelyn peered down at the bundle in her husband's arms and felt her temper and shame rising. Sure she knew that men sometimes fathered bastards, but Catelyn never thought that the honorable Ned Stark would betray his marriage vows so soon after they were married, even if it wasn't a marriage of love.

Catelyn didn't say anything at first; she only stared at the baby with contempt. Then she looked at her husband, "As you wish, Lord Husband," Catelyn answered coldly.

Catelyn tried to take Lyarra from Ned, but his daughter protested and clung to him tighter. Not wanting to cause a scene, Catelyn let her daughter stay with her husband, and with a swish of her skirts, she turned, took Robb into her arms, and headed inside the castle.

Ned sighed, he knew that bringing Jon would cause tension with his new wife, but there was nothing he could do about it. As he held Jon in one arm, Lyarra leaned over and peered at the infant; she smiled and looked at her father, "Baby!" Lyarra squealed in excitement.

Ned chuckled, "Aye, Lyarra, this is your new baby brother."

Lyarra looked at h,er father, confused for a moment, "Bubba?" She asked.

"Aye, your brother, Jon."

Lyarra squealed, then leaned down and gently kissed the baby's head, "Jon," Lyarra said.

'Well, at least someone in his family was excited about Jon,' Ned thought.

Ned heaved a tired sigh and handed Jon back to his wet nurse. He and his bannermen made their way into Riverrun, where a bath and a hot meal awaited them.
