"I'm trying to find a way around this, y/n. If you could just give me a little time." Your boyfriend cried from the bar. It seemed like all he ever did was drink. He always said he needed more time, but nothing ever changed. He was still the way he's always been, but now you could see it from an outsiders point of view. It was a dangerous relationship.

He had three empty glasses behind him and another partial one in his hand. His hair was a greasy mess and his five o'clock shadow looked rougher and raggeder than normal. He looked like a villain. With the way he was acting, it was like he became one.

"I'm sick of this John. I've had enough." You closed the door to the dump and speeded home.

You packed your things quickly and were able to leave before John could stumble his way into the front door. Deep down, you hated to do it, but seized the opportunity.

You continued driving down Sunset Boulevard to your good friend Montgomery Clift's house. He lived up on the hill in a nice secluded area, away from the somewhat reckless city.

You parked your car in his large driveway and grabbed a suitcase. You took your time walking through his courtyard. It was ethereal. A fountain was all the way in the back corner by the picket fence. From where you stood it looked like it needed cleaning.

You rang the doorbell and continued to look around as if you've never been there before.

"Hello? Oh y/n!" Monty quickly engulfed you in a hug. He took a look at you with a tinge of worry in his eyes.

"Is it John again?" He welcomed you into his home. Immediately you felt better, the home had nice vibes. Calmness, it instantly felt like home.

"Yeah. I think it's over for good now. I found him five drinks deep at the bar."

"Let me guess, he said 'just give me a little time?'"

"Yes. I moved my things out. He's still most likely downing whatever he was drinking."

"Well you're welcome to stay here as long as need be. You know your way around by now." He chuckled while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Thank you Monty, as long as I'm not in your way."

"Never." He grabbed your suitcase and walked you up the stairs to the guest bedroom.

He helped you get situated in the room before leaving. It gave you time to think while you were putting your belongings around the room. Your relationship was really over. In that moment you couldn't decide if it was a good or bad thing.

You changed for bed and looked up at the ceiling. Your pillows had smelled like Montgomery, and it gave you some peace and your mind a break. Your mind was clear when you fell asleep that night.
