《Ice Cold ~ Toshiro x Reader》16- The password knock

You walked inside your home, and found yourself boiling hot. A groan escaped from your mouth, and you ran at full speed towards the AC. You found the cool air refreshing as it blew on your soaking wet clothes, but you didn't like the feeling of gross, wet cloth sticking to your skin, so you stepped into your bedroom. You groaned once again as you remembered that your baskets of clothing and food were dumped somewhere in a street.
"That kimono was really nice," you murmured to yourself wistfully. A knock on the door snapped you back into reality, and you put your hand over the doorknob, but stopped yourself. You opened the curtain, trying to be sneaky, but your eyes immediately met with Renjis. You huffed grumpily.
"What brings you here?" you shouted, without opening the door.
"Life."
"That's deep."
"No, I actually just followed you."
"Oh. Okay, go home."
"Let me in. I told you I was gonna steal your food while you... read, or whatever."
"You must knock the password knock," you said dramatically.
"Password knock? Since when was that a thing?"
"Since now."
"I don't know it, dumbass."
"Aw, c'mon..."
To your surprise, he began to jiggle the doorknob loudly and annoyingly.
"In the words of Elsa... let it go!" you exclaimed, pouting.
"LET ME IN!"
"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"
"What?"
"Sorry, I forgot you don't know any of these references."
"I don't give a shit. Let me in."
"I take that sorry back."
"You can't do that."
"Says who?"
"Says everyone."
"Well, everyone can go to hell."
You opened the door reluctantly, and stomped on his foot. He cursed, hopping up and down as a string of threats came out of his mouth.

"No, really, why are you here? Is this another shining example of how much you care about me?"
Renji shot you a grin.
"If I say yes, will you believe me?"
"No."
"Then no."
You laughed, shaking your head.
"You bring any food? I'm starving..."
Renji threw a bag at you, and you jumped to catch it.
"Oi! Don't throw things at me!"
He shrugged, a smirk on his face. You longed to wipe it right off, but for now, just opened the bag. It had some clothing inside, as well as a bunch of different foods.
"Icecream!" you squealed, pulling out the three cartons of it.
"Want some?" you asked Renji, grabbing two spoons.
"It's my icecream, doofus. Of course I do. Which flavour you want?"
"You can't seriously expect me to choose just one, Renji. I thought you knew me better than that," you chided him, opening all three containers. You readied your spoon, and alternated eating from each one.
"Oi! Stop that! You're tainting the vanilla with strawberry!"
"No."
"Stop it, (Y/N). Seriously, otherwise I might-"
"-grow a pair."
"Don't do that, I'm going to-"
"-bow down to (Y/N)."
"If you do that one more time I'll-"
"-kick your ass."
"Well, you're not wrong..."
You shook your head and laughed, and he just frowned at the vanilla which now had bits of pink in it.
"Hey, Renji... why can you do it, but not me?"
"Because."
You stretched, and looked out the window. It was still pouring with rain.
"Hey, Renji..."
"Hm?"
"Why do you have so many tattoos?"
"I just do."
"Ehh? That's not a reason..."
He groaned.
"Hey, Renji..."
"What the hell do you want now?!"

"Why is your hair red?"
"Stop talking so much."
"No."
You didn't say anything else, though, and went and changed your clothes.
"Wanna watch a movie?" you asked him, walking back into the room.
"A moo-viee?"
You shook your head with a pained expression on your face.
"I really pity you. I'll have to take you to the world of the living some time, yeah?"
Renji shrugged, and you got off your chair. To your dismay, you immediately tripped over, banging your chin on the floor.
"You alright, squirt?"
"Shut up, and stop calling me squirt. You're just tall."
You stood up and brushed yourself off, then grabbed the back of snacks.
"Hmm..."
You grabbed a peach out, then tripped over again. The bag of snacks emptied out onto Renji, and the peach was squashed under your hand. Renji raised an eyebrow, and you glared at the snacks.
"I swear, I'm not clumsy at all usually..."
"Whatever you say..."
You sat on the couch, reluctantly munching into some crackers. You stood up abruptly.
"That's it! I'm going outside."
"You're- What? Outside? What's wr-"
"This silence is killing me, and there's nothing to do here. I'm gonna go take a walk for a few minutes, alright? I'll be back in a bit. Stay put, pineapple head."
"Why you...!"
You stepped out the door, relieved to get out, and jumped onto the side of the path. It was slightly raised. You stretched your arms out, not that you even needed to stretch them out to balance on such a wide platform, and closed your eyes as you walked in front of you, smiling. The raindrops only landed on you every once and a while. It was only 'spitting'. It would definitely start raining again, but you would be in the house by then.
"(L/N), you're about to walk into a tree."
You opened your eyes abruptly and froze. There was only one person that called you (L/N).
You jumped off the side of the path, and speed walked back to your home.
"(L/N), I-"
In your rush to get away, you didn't realise you were speed-walking back over to the side of the path, where the jutted-up stone was. Before you knew it, you were falling.
"Holy crap, not agai-"
You stopped yourself as you felt two hands grab your shoulders. You were gently lifted up, and you mentally thanked whoever it was for preventing your face from coming into contact with the mud.
You took a deep breath, then turned around to view your saviour.
"Oh. Hitsugaya Taichou."
For a split second, his eyes met yours, before hastily looking away. In that brief moment, you thought you saw something flash in those bright blue eyes, but it was gone so quickly that you assumed that you made it up. Toshiro tried not to stare at you too much, in case it put you off, but he couldn't help it.
"You need to pay more attention," he scolded you. "What are you doing out here in the rain?"
You opened and closed your mouth for a few minutes.
"W-Well, I... I don't know..." you stuttered grumpily, trying desperately not to sound too happy.
Toshiro cocked his head to one side.
She doesn't know? What?
The rain began to pelt down on the pair of you. You made a move to run home, but a firm hand was gripping your wrist which made you freeze on the spot.
