《Taming the Rogue》Shy

The next morning was quiet. She seemed overly awkward and shy. A little distant too even though she was in the same house as I was.
"Harlow, what's wrong?" I asked her as I drove us to school.
All I got was a shrug, so I pulled over on the side of the road.
"Harlow, I will ask one more time and only one more time. What is wrong?" I growled lowly.
"What you said last night, did you mean it or are you fucking with me?" She whispered in a submissive tone.
"I'm not fucking with you Harlow. I really do care about you. I care about you more than I should as a teacher if that says anything." I gave her a serious look.
She hesitantly nodded her head.
"I'll make sure I prove that to you." I patted her knee, but when as soon as I put the car in drive she grabbed my hand and played with my fingers in her lap after putting her feet on her seat.
"Thank you," Harlow whispered and I could see a small smile growing on her face out of the corner of my eye.
I simply smiled. I'd tell her not to thank me for something out of my control, but that would be taking it way too far and that would definitely make me lose my job, which is definitely something I can't afford. So as of right now, I will continue to deny that I have feelings for the wolf-like girl who is holding my hand.
I can only wonder what she thinks of me, or what goes on in her mind to begin with.
"How do you have the natural ability to calm me? You tell me to do something and I have the need to do it." Harlow asked just above a whisper.
"It's a teacher thing I guess." I shrugged my shoulders, but on the inside I was panicking.
"You have more control than a teacher." Harlow pointed out.
Fuck it. I might as well say it now. "I'm a dominant." I sighed.
"Oh, makes sense." She shrugged as if it didn't effect her, which means she doesn't care for a relationship with me.
"I hope that doesn't scare you." I mumbled as I stopped at a red light.
"Not even a little." She smiled over at me.
"Are you sure? It scares a lot of people away when they know I have so much natural control over them." I furrowed my eyebrows together.
"It doesn't scare me away. It gives me a sense of security to be honest. Something I know will be there no matter what happens." Harlow shrugged and looked back out the window.

Hearing that made me smile.
"Alright, today we are playing volleyball. To change things up a little, it's boys versus girls." I smiled as half of the class whined and groaned and the other half seemed confident.
"I'm going to kick your ass Jackson." Harlow smirked at her older brother from the other side of the net.
"Ladies get the ball first. Serve whenever you're ready." I nodded my head at Harlow as she set up for a spike serve.
I watched as she tossed it up and spiked it right at her brother who quickly set it for the guy beside him.
The first week of class is learning the rules of all of the sports we will play, so they all know what's going on and what are the do's and don't's of each sport.
"Got it!" Harlow called off the other girl who was going for the ball. "Setting!" She yelled.
The other girl, Dannie, stepped back a little and got ready for a spike.
Sure enough the play was made perfectly and scored the point.
All of the guys groaned, and even the stuck up prissy girls cheered a little as the stood in the back. I'd tell them to try to participate more, but they'd just get in the way.
Come to find out, the guys came through and won once they tied up because some girl called for the ball before Harlow did and when she went to set it, it bounced right off of her face before going out of bounds.
"Jackson and Dannie are team captains for the next activity. Since the girls got the ball first in volleyball, Jackson gets first pick." I smiled at him.
No sooner did I say that, Jackson picked his first one.
"Harlow." He smirked at Dannie.
"No!" She whined. "Carlos," she sighed.
"Okay, so we're going to do some rugby today. You all said that you'd be okay with it as well as your parents, so with that being said, Dannie, you receive the punt." I nodded at Dannie and she let out a sigh of relief.
"Harlow, you punt and we'll follow your lead. Guys, try to get the ball to Harlow. You can only pass behind you or to the sides, so keep that in mind. You have to run with it to advance. With that being said, Harlow here is the ball." Jackson tossed Harlow the ball and they all trotted out on the field.
I blew my whistle and they Harlow punted the ball all the way to the other side of the field before bolting at the girl who caught the ball. When she saw Harlow charging at her she passed it to Carlos who gave his best attempt to outrun Harlow, but she tackled him before he even made it a quarter of a ways up the field. She tackled him so hard that they slid on the grass.

She tackled him before grabbing the ball, and running it to her team's goal area.
I blew my whistle again and Harlow and her brother quickly hugged before giving her teammates high fives.
"How are you feeling?" I asked Harlow as soon as she got in my car after football practice. She has practice Monday through Thursday, and Fridays are free. I mean, who wouldn't need a break after practicing football for five hours everyday? It pays off though since our school is the number one for football in the state.
"Tired as fuck- I mean very tired." Harlow always slightly panics whenever she cusses in front of me.
"Harlow, you can cuss in front of me. It's okay. I have the mouth of a sailor." I chuckled as I pulled out of the parking lot.
All I got was a nod. I saw her hesitantly reach for my hand, that was sitting on the center console, out of the corner of my eye.
I went ahead and just gave her my hand, opening up my balled fist so she could lace her fingers with mine.
Apparently holding my hand makes her more at ease.
"Can I sleep in your bed with you tonight?" Harlow asked just above a whisper.
"Yeah, whatever you want I'll do or make happen." I smiled over at her.
For the first time I saw her give me a bright, genuine smile. Her teeth are white as fuck. Like, how? "How was football?" I changed the subject before I started to drown in myself falling for her.
"Same as always. I just get to play catch and tackle people for about five hours which I find fun. Coach just has Jackson and me run plays while everyone else guards us. We did a mini scrimmage and of course our team won. Jackson passes the ball to other people if he is just looking to push through, but if he wants to go long or wants me to jump over them he makes sure I get the ball, and since I do track jumping hurdles is quite easy for me. Even if they are five feet high, I can do it if I dive." Harlow spoke with a smile, and hearing her talk about something she loves makes me happy.
"Have you ever dropped a ball?" I looked at her a little before facing the road again. The roads home are usually just me on the road and a few cars here and there, so I'm not too worried.
"I did last year. It was pouring down rain and the ball was wet as hell, so I slipped right through my hands. It was then that the referees decided it was raining too hard to play. When I can't catch a ball because it's raining no one can is the way they see it." A proud smile appeared on her face as she held her chin high.
"You love playing sports, don't you?" I smiled.
"Yeah, more than anything." A small chuckle followed her answer.
Damnit, please stop falling before I can't stop myself.
Who am I kidding? I still can't stop myself no matter how early I notice it.
"Are you okay Miss Lovato?" Harlow snapped me out of my thoughts.
Apparently I had gotten us home and parked in my driveway while zoned out.
"Miss Lovato?" Harlow whispered in a worried tone.
Hearing her call me that made me let out an involuntary animalistic growl, but I took a deep breath before speaking. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. I'm just tired is all." I gave her a fake reassuring smile.
She tried to make it seem like she believed me, but she didn't pull it off very well.
I quickly unbuckled and got out of the car without further questioning from Harlow.
"Is there something I can do? I physically cannot not worry about you right now." Harlow gave me a knowing look.
Right, she's got wolf blood in her. Wait... that means she's grown attached to me. Maybe not a whole hell of a lot, but still attached. "No, I'm alright Sweetheart."
Harlow blushed at the nickname.
As soon as I opened the front door and let Harlow in as well I locked the door and went to the kitchen. Maybe the weird ass feelings that are going on is just because I'm hungry.
"May I go take a shower?" Harlow looked at her hands.
"You don't need to ask Harlow. Just go take a shower." I smiled.
Without notice she pulled me into a hug and took in a deep breath.
I hesitantly wrapped my arms around her, but when I did I knew I didn't want to let go.
"I like hugging you." Harlow smiled against the top of my head.
I just smiled against her shoulder and rubbed her back a little. Did she smell a little after practicing for five or so hours? Yes, but I couldn't care less if I'm being honest.
"I'll leave you be now." Harlow kissed the top of my head before walking to the bathroom.
Holy shit. She just. Did she just? What?

Braza the Architect - Magical Crafter, Builder, and Adventurer!
This is the story of an older man who lived a hard but full life, being reincarnated into a fantasy world as a human-lizard hybrid. The new world is violent, magic is real, a game-like development system crushes physics and natural law under its ambivalent thumb, and myth and legend don't just meet, they chase you down to eat you.Follow Braza as he tries to make a very different life for himself in a familiar but ultimately alien world. In this story the protaginist will not just be a muscle bound monster. He is not a proper hero, willing to sacrifice himself for the good of a stranger, but neither is he a maniacal villain. He is trying to survive, and he is trying to give himself and those he deems himself responsible for a seat at the table of the"goodly", the "civilized" races. He is trying to create a secure home for his people, to arrange beneficial trade agreements, explore ancient ruins, decipher ancient runes, push the boundaries of magic to create a better life for everyone around him, to learn about the history of the world and the multiverse, and ultimately attempt to become powerful enough to take on a being that even the gods themselves fear. This is my first story and it blends many different elements and styles. It's a bit darker than most of what I have read on Royal Road, but even with that, I hope you give it a try, and I hope you like it!

World Labyrinth
Meet our hero: an average young man with an average life, who ended up dying while working an average job. However, he's a given a chance to see another world at the final crossroads of his old life. The catch... well... he knows there's one. There always is. But, hey, when you're about to die, you take whatever opportunity's provided to you. This is the young man's story in the new world as he learns he can't afford to be average anymore. AUTHOR'S NOTE: I've decided to put this note up due to some comments and ratings left for this ORIGINAL FICTION complaining its boring. This story starts slow and it takes time for things to pick up. Also the MC doesn't start off as superman or become superman magically in two chapters. He also is AVERAGE... so it takes time to build up his character. Starting chapter 14 or so things pick up, but this isn't a pure hack and slash and skills level up story like most of the FF on this site. Just giving you a warning, so you don't end up disappointed and end up having to post large paragraphs complaining about the story... I also post on average every TWO OR THREE DAYS, so you'll get more to read.
