I
____1st Person POV____
Sitting down in the living room of the small house, I felt frustrated as I tried to rock on the little rocking chair to calm my little baby girl. Her cries and screams just kept on echoing throughout the small house, sounding all throughout the halls. She kept screaming for her dad, wanting him to come home from work, but he was out and would be for a few days, so this was a joyful time.
She kept squirming around on my lap, trying to escape to run about, but it was naptime so I had to keep her. I kept my arms tightly around her, growing frustrated at her tantrum. Keeping my cool though, I just calmly held her in my arms as she kicked and screamed at me,
"I WANT DADDY!!" She repeated over and over again. I tried to tell her he'd be home soon, but after a bit of repeating myself I just let her cry it out.
I could tell she was getting tired as her movements were growing weaker, but she kept up her little fight. Although I should let her cry it out and be done with it, I was getting really angered. She's never thrown a fit like this, but since she's still in "terrible twos" phase although she's three now, it was bad.
Keeping her close, I let out a sigh, "I guess Dabi's not around, so it's fine... Right?"
Looking down at the little girl in my arms, I felt a pang hit me, but I kept going with it. Swallowing a lump in my throat, I took a breath,
"Where the northwind, meets the sea, there's a river- full of memory,"
She instantly looked up to me, confusion riding across her face as her cries died down,

"Sleep my darling safe and sound- for in this river, all is found," I sang out and she began to grow really tired.
Cuddling up to me, I could feel her instantly calming down and getting sleepy. I let out a small yawn myself and continued with the song,
"In her waters, deep and true, lies the answers, and a path for you. Dive down deep into her sound, but not too far or you'll be drowned," I could hear her little snores begin to sound throughout the room, replacing her cries from earlier, and instantly I felt peace. But I, for some reason, felt the need to sing a bit more- just as a precaution,
"Yes, she will sing to those who hear, and in her song, all magic flows. But can you brave what you most fear? Can you face what the river knows?" I let out, my eyebrow cocking up unknowingly to me as I felt the music flow,
"Where the northwind, meets the sea, there's a mother, full of memory. Come my darling homeward bound. When all is lost, then all is found," I finished and felt a smile creep onto my face as I looked down only to see my little girl sound asleep.
Letting out a relieved sigh, I stood from the rocking chair and as I did, I heard a voice speak up,
"D*mn, almost put me in a trance," looking up, I was shocked yet happy to see Dabi standing there in the doorframe. Raising an eyebrow at him, I began to walk towards the hallway, where the bedrooms were,
"You're back early- and how come I didn't hear you walk through the front door?" I asked and he followed me to our girl's bedroom.
As I walked over to the small bed, I set her down gently and stayed there, looking down and smiling at her. I felt Dabi's presence come next to me as he slung an arm around my shoulders. I could hear his head lean against my shoulder, to which I laid my head on top of his as we stood there,

"I was let off early. Said that they didn't need me," he answered and I gave a small nod. I could feel him shift under my head, so I stood back up, my eyes still looking down at the beautiful little girl before us. There was a few seconds of silence as the sound of her breathing was all to be heard before I felt a kiss being pressed against my temple, "So now, when are you going to sing to me like that?"
I shook my head, letting out a little laugh. Turning away from the baby bed, I followed Dabi out of the room with a small grin, "If I did, you wouldn't be able control yourself,"
I could hear him chuckle a bit, looking at me with a smirk as we made our way down the hall, back to the living room, "Is that so?"
I nodded as we both reached the couch. As I sat down, he came down with me, pushing me back into the couch, so he was hovering over me,
"Welp let's just see about that," he leaned down and we locked lips, but almost as so as we did, I could hear the cry echo through the house once more. Letting out a groan, Dabi pushed himself off of me and looked towards the sound. Just as I was about to stand up though, he held his arm out in front of me with a small smile on his patched face, "Don't worry, I got it,"
Smiling to him, he stood from his set and began to make his way towards the hallway, but not before turning back to look at me with a smirk,
"But this isn't over," he gestured to me and I rolled my eyes,
"Didn't plan on it to be,"
And just like that, sometimes villains make the best husbands.

After the Long Burn
After the longest exodus in human history, a terrible accident threatens to turn the salvation of humanity into its most desperate struggle for survival. From the ashes of calamity rises a new human story. A frustrated scientist dedicates her life to recreating the Earth in alien soil, while another is gunned down for his sin and sets off a chain of events culminating in a desperate escape across the void for an opportunity at redemption. Around a distant moon a deep space miner stumbles onto a secret, the key to which lies buried inside his own tortured mind. After the Long Burn is an anthology of short science fiction stories set in the distant Ionad System. Author's Note: I thought I might try something a little different with this story. Rather than one story, it is six stories of varying length, each taking a slightly different perspective to tell a larger story. Some are more actioney, others more cerebral but I hope there will be something for everyone. Stories over 7000 words, with the exception of the titular After the Long Burn, will be published in two parts. I anticipate an upload schedule of one part every other day.

Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
