Evelyn's POV:

I look outside the window of the cab to see the mountains pass by like flashes and I start to think what Haven will be like. As I almost get lost in thought the cab pulls to a stop just next to a beautiful bridge covered in fresh flowers. I pay the driver and get out, I'm so transfixed by the beauty I didn't hear the cab pull away. Ready to start my new life I make my way across the bridge and start heading to my new apartment, curtesy of my friend, my suitcase rolls gently behind me. Walking through the town was like walking through a dream.

I make it to my apartment and see all of the boxes and the responsible side if me is telling me to unpack them but the curiosity tells me to do it later and look around the town in further detail. I walk out onto the sidewalk and make my way to a building with a sign that says "The Black Lantern" Might as-well get this out of the way. Open the door and see what could be my new job. I look around and find the person who could be the owner and I go up to them. "Are you Jed?" I asked the man behind the bar. "That's me, and you must be Evelyn we spoke on the phone." Good he knows who I am and saves me introducing myself. "Well, it's pretty quiet at the moment so if you want to sit and watch for now that's fine." The door opens behind me but I don't check to see who walks in. I then hear something behind me and see someone coming down the stairs with his cheeks red with blood. Then another set of feet make an appearance, this guy has a red mark on his face but not as bad as the first guy. Then a few moments later one more set of shoes come down but they're much lighter, and I can start to feel sorrow or something like it. A girl slightly younger than me walks down with a sad and guilty look n her face, no way she did that. Jed has just finished looking at the first guy and now moved onto the second guy. "All right got Mac all packed up now let's take a look at you." Jed then touches the mans side and he flinches away. The person who walked in earlier then spoke up "Dad, I'm taking Gabe to the station. We need a first aid kit that doesn't outdate the discovery of bacteria." I turn around to see a very good looking man sat at the bar looking through the first aid kit and I wish I had turned around when he first entered so I wouldn't have the shock of his looks. "I have a first aid kit in my bag if you need one." I grab my bag from the floor and pull out a little pouch with first aid supplies and give it to him. "Thanks." They go upstairs to sort Gabe out and patch him up.

Jed then sighs and says "Well there goes my bartender and my backup bartender, hey Alex Gabe tells me you've worked in a restaurant before, couple of years as a waiter?" He asks Alex. She then calls out Gabe's shit and comes clean but she complies to the work and starts. "I can help out if necessary, I can clean up some of the dishes and check on some people." I speak up to Jed. "Yes, that would be great, thank you Evelyn."

Then I put my bag behind the bar, with Jed's permission, and get to work, I first go to the back and pick up some empty bottles and throw them away, I then get a cloth and spray to wipe down some tables. Jed calls me over to go give some food to a table, he points me in the direction of two people at a table opposite the bar. I grab the food and walk over, "One pie special with fries?" And the woman tells me it's hers so I give it to her and automatically hand the burger to the man. "Can I get you anything else?" The man asks me "Do you have an update on my drink" What drink is he on about? I'm sure Alex is looking for it. " I'm sure Alex will have it soon just wait."

There's not much else to do as Alex is dealing with the girl by the window as I talk to Jed he tells me I can relax a bit. Alex tells Jed she is all finished and Jed tells her the same thing he tells me and adds "They boys should be down in a minute." Just as he finished saying that we can hear footsteps coming down the wooden stairs "Speak of the Devil." Ryan walks up to me and hand me my first aid kit back and thanks me with smile, a gorgeous one at that. Jed tells Gabe about Alex's work and Gabe tells Alex something then leaves. Ryan starts talking to me so I turn my attention to him.

"I've never seen you in town before, are you new?" He asks, and wow his voice is amazing. "Yeah I moved here today, I used to live in California with my friend but she met someone and he practically kicked me out so my friend suggested I move here and well as you can see I took her advice." We talked for a little bit until his face dropped slightly, I ask him what's wrong but he doesn't reply and just goes upstairs, out of instinct I start to follow him and when I get to the top of the stairs he is stood there. Was he waiting for me to catch up? Anyway we go up to the roof and we see Gabe and Alex sat at a little garden table looking at the mountains.

"Hey Ryan. What's up?" Gabe asks. "Have you guys seen Ethan around?" Ryan replies with concern in his voice. Gabe mentions that Ethan, whoever that was, going home. With an instinct I could tell he wasn't at home. Gabe stands up ready to go looking when Alex mentions something about a mine and Ethan going exploring. Oh shit.
