"Leo!" I whimpered, staring at the sandals on the floor in front of me.

"Amore? what is it?" he ran into the room, obviously on edge.

"I can't get my shoes on." I pouted.

His shoulders dropped in relief as he knelt down to put my shoes on for me.

The closer I get to full term pregnancy, the more stressed he gets. I'm now 30 weeks pregnant and ever since I reached the third trimester, he has flat-out refused to let me go anywhere on my own.

He's started working from home 3 out of 5 days a week, only really going in for things like interviews and meetings that he can't do online.

This is my third pregnancy, and every single time he's been even more loving and affectionate than the last, if that's possible.

"are you sure you want to wear these, amore?" He looked up at me once he had tied the laces on my converse trainers.

"Why? Do you think they look ugly?" I could already feel the tears threatening to fall.

Damn hormones.

"Oh no, amore mio, I just wanted to make sure they are comfortable for your feet, gorgeous. Nothing more." He wiped the tears from my eyes.

"You're so nice to me!" I whimpered again, kissing his lips.

"Of course, amore, you're carrying my sons in there, you will get only the best of everything."

Oh yeah, we're having twins.

Twin boys.

I already have two.

It's not that I don't love them, I'm just seriously outnumbered.

Christian is now seven, and Luca turned four a few months ago. I can't believe how big my babies have gotten, and I'm only in my thirties. I feel so old.

Both of my sons look exactly like their father, and I'm sure these boys will too. I mean, their father is gorgeous, so it's not that bad. Besides, they both got my green eyes, so at least I contributed in some way, apart from growing them.

But in all seriousness, it isn't how they look that's the problem, it's the fact that my sons have the exact same personality as my husband. Obviously they aren't as sadistic or dirty as my husband, but how they both have learnt how to glare exactly like their father is beyond me.

"Mumma, come on!" The sound of Chris' voice drifted from downstairs. We were all going to my 30-week appointment, as a family. Leo got the boys ready before coming up to help me. He carried me down the stairs and set me down gently once we were at the front door.

"Figlio, you have to be patient, your mama is carrying two of your brothers and it's very hard, capisce?"

"Capisce, papa."

We've raised our sons with three languages. English, Italian and French are all used in our house, normally english and italian mostly, but I still use french occasionally.

I grabbed Luca's hand while Leo picked up Christian and we all walked to the waiting car.

"Romano Family! Welcome!" Dr Terese grinned as we all walked in to her room.

Dr Terese has been my doctor for all three of my pregnancies and she has been amazing all three times.

"And how are you doing, Aria."

"Tired." I chuckled. "I just want to meet them now." I said, holding my stomach.

"Well, let's check on these little boys."

Because I was having twins, it's possible that they could come in as little as two weeks, so I'm having fortnightly checkups now.

"Both are really healthy, and look to be in a good position." She smiled after she took her gloves off and handed me a paper towel to wipe the gel off of my stomach.

"Any idea as to when they'll make an appearance?" Leo asked while both of our sons were climbing all over him.

"Not really, but I should expect them within the next 4-6 weeks." She replied.

"So we have six weeks to find names." I laughed.

- - - fast forward 6 weeks because I want her to have her babies - - -

"Here you go, baby." I handed Chris the cut up sandwich and he thanked me and took a bite.

I'm now 36 weeks pregnant, 37 weeks tomorrow, and I want these babies out.

I love them, but they are playing hell on my body.

Leonardo had to go to work this morning and I have no idea why, but I have a feeling that it wasn't the best timing for him to go. The sound of the front door opening followed by a greeting was heard and then I saw Enzo walk in, his son Max giving me slight nod before running off to find my boys.

"The gorgeous Mrs Romano, how are you doing?"

"I want these babies out of me."

"Oh, I get that, I felt the same when I had the girls." Bria walked in, holding the hands of Sabine and Charlotte. She ushered them off the play with the rest of the kids.

"Did you hear? Astrid's pregnant again?"

"yeah. Now Peter will have a little brother or sister." Their son Peter was the cutest kid I had ever met, and he has a heart of gold. How he was going to grow up to be ruthless mafia boss is beyond me. Astrid's pregnancy was quite tough on the both of them, but they had a happy and healthy baby boy, and she's just announced that she's pregnant again.

"It seems that we're all pregnant at the same time." I laughed. It was ironic, we all seemed to have kids the same age, because now my babies and Astrid's will only be a few months apart. It's good though, now they all have someone to play with.

"Does anyone want a coffee?" I turned towards my friends.

"I'd love one." Bria sighed in relief.

"So where has the hubby gone?"

"He had to go for some interrogation. He said 'meeting' but when he wears a black shirt to work, I know he'll be torturing someone so the blood doesn't stain as much."

"You are a very, very, smart woman, Ms Romano."

I nodded and did a little curtsey.

"Ow." I mumbled as I felt a contraction.

"What?"

"My water just broke." I practically whimpered.

"Oh god, where the hell is Leo when you need him? Useless man." Enzo muttered under his breath as he carried me towards his car.

"Are you okay watching the kids?" I look towards Bria, I felt bad leaving her with five children.

"Of course, of course! I'll call mama, she can help me. Now go, have your babies! I get extra snuggles." She winked, kissing my cheek as a goodbye.

Enzo placed me in the passenger seat as he went to grab my hospital bag. I picked up my mobile to call Leo.

It rang a few times before I heard a faint scream and then my Husband.

Great thing for a woman in labour to hear.

"Amore mio? Everything okay?"

"yeah, just gone into labour though."

"What? How are you saying that so casually?"

"Well, one of us needs to not panic." I giggled. "Enzo is driving me to the hospital, I'll see you there?"

"Of course amore, I'll be there as soon as I physically can."

"Yay! See you soon, je t'adore."

"Ti amo, Bambina."

"You're lucky right now, because I have to go."

"bastard." The man spat at my shoe.

"Yeah, I got what I needed from you and now I'm bored. Bye." I muttered, shooting his forehead with my pistol before walking out of the cell.

"Clean it up." I said to one of my men, my face stoic but my heart doing leaps in my chest.

"Aria's gone into labour." I turned my head over my shoulder to inform Killian, who was with me. "Enzo's taken her in."

"Go have a shower first, Leo. You're covered in blood, and I don't think you want to meet your children covered in the blood of a rapist." He said, slight disgust lacing his tone.

I agreed, driving home and showering and changing as quick as I could into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I thanked Bria for watching the children with a kiss on the forehead and ran out to my car. Killian stayed with Bria to look after everyone.

I ran into the hospital, only needing to look at the receptionist for her to tell me the room number.

Because these are the Mafia Don's children as well as a birth of multiples, Dr Terese has a whole team of doctors to support Aria through this.

I walked in, Aria had a cup of ice chips and was munching away happily, with Enzo right next to her, talking quietly.

"Leo! You're not covered in blood!"

"Of course not bambina, I went and showered."

"I'm glad. Otherwise i wouldn't have let you in."

"Well, now that Leo's here, I'll take my leave, Bug. I'll see you in a bit." Enzo ruffled her hair and slapped my shoulder before leaving.

"How are you feeling baby?"

"Okay, I'm just a bit scared. What if they get hurt?"

"I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine, amore." I kissed her hair.

Only a few hours later, Aria was wheeled into the room in order to have a c-section. We were advised to go down this route and we were willing to do the safest option.

A screen was put up so that Aria couldn't see them performing the procedure.

At 5:17 pm, our eldest twin was born at 4 lbs, 4 oz, and 12 minutes later, his brother was born, only a few ounces heavier. It was normal for them to be a little smaller and we knew they might have to stay in the hospital for a bit.

"You did it, amore mio." I smiled down at Aria who was looking at our baby boys.

"Wait, there's something else" Dr Terese interrupted and my panic rose. Aria couldn't feel anything because of the anaesthetic but she looked as worried as me.

Very slowly, Dr Terese walked around to us, another small body in her arms.

"We have a surprise." she chuckled. "Two boys and a girl."

I looked stunned towards the tiny girl in Terese's arms. She was making noise and she was breathing but I couldn't believe it.

A daughter.

I'm now a father of five.

- - -

"I've never needed a burger more in my life." Aria mumbled with her mouth full.

It's been a few hours and Aria has rested and is now sitting in bed, a fast food bag on her lap and a burger in her hands.

A knock on the door grabs our attention and I call them in.

Dr Terese poked her head around the door.

"Hiya, how are you doing, Aria?"

My baby took a wipe from my hands and cleaned her mouth before answering the doctor. "I'm okay, but how are my babies?"

We were able to see them in the delivery room, but then they were taken for a little, obviously my little girl was a shock to everyone so she needed a little more care.

"Everything is absolutely fine, your two boys are doing wonderfully, super strong and healthy and no complications."

"What about my daughter?" I cut in, getting anxious.

"Well, she was a shock to all of us, for sure." Terese was still smiling so I'm hoping it's all good. "Obviously, she was quite a bit smaller than her brothers, she weighed about 3 and a half pounds, so we're going to keep her in a little just to make sure she's the healthiest she can be, but I'm positive she'll be absolutely fine."

We both breathed sigh of relief at her words and thanked her greatly. She told us we could go and visit our babies whenever we wanted in the NICU.

- - -

"She's so small" Aria whispered, her finger being held my our daughter.

I held my youngest sons in each arm, looking at my two girls.

"have you thought of any names, amore?"

She looked up at me "I like the name Arlo, I think baby boy 2 is my Arlo." She whispered, looking at the youngest of our sons.

"That suits him. What about the name Orson for his brother?" Aria never seemed to like my name suggestions so it was a real shock when she smiled and nodded.

"Orson and Arlo my two youngest baby boys." She grinned.

"Oh! What about our super secret baby girl?"

"I really like the name Essilie, and I want to give her your mother's name as well, Essilie Rose."

"I do too, actually. since when did you get so good at naming babies?" Aria looked up at me with a cheeky grin.

"Well, I've had to do it five times." I reply.

Orson, Arlo and Essilie Romano.

The three little people that have completed my family.

"Leo?"

"Sì bambina?"

"i want chicken nuggets."
