Chris checked his watch for probably the 10th time that evening. It was 7:20. He was starting to think Livie had stood him up. He had thought maybe he had the wrong address but no he was exactly where she had said to meet him. Just as Chris was about to give up and leave, a town car came flying up 42nd street and came to an abrupt stop.

"I'm here! I'm here!" The door flew open and Livie stepped out hobbling as she slipped a high heel onto one foot than the other.

Chris walked over towards the town car. Pictures did this girl no justice. In a bright red pencil skirt and a brown and red sleeveless blouse she looked like she just walked out a magazine.

"I'm sorry!" She apologized. "I got stuck at work late and then traffic from the bridge." She waved it off. "Sorry. Hi." She grinned.

"Hi." He echoed. "You look stunning."

"Thank you." She reached up and pulled the pin from her hair letting it fall into soft waves hitting her shoulders. "You look pretty delicious yourself."

"Thanks." He chuckled.

"Shall we?" She linked her arm through his and they made the short walk over to Bryant Park Grill.

"Hi reservation for Hart." Livie smiled at the hostess.

"Oh I'm sorry Ms. Hart. You've missed your reservation unfortunately. We are so busy this evening we had to give your spot to someone else."

"No way." Livie frowned. "You've got to be kidding me. We're only." She pulled her phone out and looked at it, "25 minutes late." Her shoulders slumped in defeat.

"Again, I do apologize Ms. Hart. If you care to wait, I can put you on the list."

Livie looked at Chris who just shrugged.

"No that's ok. Thank you though."

"Ok so now what?" Chris wondered out loud.

"You ever just walk around Bryant Park?" Livie asked.

"No actually I don't think I have."

Livie smiled and led the way.

They walked through Bryant Park stopping at a food vendor for hotdogs and drinks.

"So tell me, what was with all the mystery on Saturday at Seb's party?" Chris asked as they walked along.

"Ummm.....I was trying to avoid this." She admitted with a duck of her head.

"Avoid a date with me?" Chris raised an eyebrow. "Am I that bad?"

"No." Livie shook her head, "I'm just not in a place right now to date."

"But you're here."

Livie nodded. "I'm here."

"Why?"

"I don't know...you're intriguing." She grinned.

"Ok, ok." Chris laughed, "You need to come up with your own lines."

"Why, when yours are so good." She giggled.

"How long have you lived in the states?" Chris changed the subject.

"About 10 years."

"Wow, do you go back home to visit often?"

"No." Livie replied.

"Do your parents still live there?" Chris asked.

"They do. I don't speak to them often."

"Oh." Chris fell silent. "I'm sorry to pry."

Livie shrugged. "No worries. We just aren't close. I have Dex here and Sebastian of course who is like my brother."

Chris nodded, "Again, he's not very loyal to you." He playfully bumped his shoulder into hers.

Livie rolled her eyes. "I know I'm going to have to have a talk with him."

Chris laughed.

Livie's phone buzzed in her bag and she dug it out to see who was calling.

CHACE flashed across the screen. Livie hit decline and slipped it back in her bag.

"Did you need to get that?" Chris asked casually.

Livie shook her head. "Nah."

They walked through Bryant Park until after 10.

"I should get home." Livie stifled a yawn.

"Where do you live? Let me give you a lift, or call you a car." Chris offered.

"Upper East Side. And thank you but I'll be ok."

"I don't feel right just sending you off into the night."

Livie laughed, "I'm fine, I promise you. Thank you, Chris, for a nice evening."

"Just nice? I need to step up my game." He rubbed the back of his neck with a smile.

"No you're doing just fine." Livie said softly.

"Can I see you again? I'm here until Sunday." Chris hoped he didn't sound desperate.

"You have my number." She called as she raised her hand hailing a cab. She smiled at him before disappearing into the back of the cab.

Livie pounded on Sebs door not caring that it was passed 11.

"Livie?" Seb squinted his eyes as he pulled the door open. "Whats wrong?"

"Are you asleep right already?" She pushed her way past him and into his apartment.

"Trying." He shot her a dirty look as she made herself at home.

"Tell me something bad about Chris. Anything."

"What?" Sebastian rubbed his eyes. "What are you talking about?"

"I went on a date with Chris, and he's perfect. Tell me something bad about him."

"I don't know anything bad about him." Sebastian said honestly.

"That cannot be true." Livie frowned. "Everyone has flaws."

"Flaws yeah, but something bad? The guy doesn't have a bad bone in his body. He's as genuine as he seems."

"You're not helping."

"What's wrong with going out on a few dates Liv?" Sebastian opened his fridge and pulled out a Gatorade.

"You know I don't do that." Livie mumbled.

"But you sleep with Chace? That's different?"

"It is different. And that's none of your business."

"Yeah it kinda is Liv. Chace is my best friend. And he has feelings for you. Real feelings. I know you think it's just sex and yeah maybe he says that but I know he doesn't feel that. And if you're going to start seeing Chris you need to act like a grown up. Don't play around with their emotions."

Livie didn't say anything. "I didn't want to like Chris." She finally said.

"It's ok if you do." Sebastian sat down on the couch next to Livie. "All I'm saying is figure out what you want before you go out with Chris again or see Chace."

Livie nodded.

"Ok now get the hell out. I'm tired."

"Thanks." Livie rolled her eyes but stood up. Seb walked her to the door.

"No but seriously thank you." Livie said sincerely.

"Anytime kid. Anytime." He gave her a quick hug before she turned to climb on the elevator.

The next day was Friday and Livie was hoping to get done early so she could sneak out before 6 pm. She had dinner plans with Jade and she wanted to go home to change first.

"Working through lunch?"

Livie looked up from her desk and smiled at Chace. He was standing in the doorway with a takeout bag in his hand.

"I was. Trying to get done early today. What'd you bring me?" She asked.

"Mexican. But before I share my lunch with you I need to know why your avoiding me."

"I'm not avoiding you." Livie lied as she shuffled some papers on her desk.

"And now you're lying? Come on Liv."

"Ok, maybe I was avoiding you."

"Why?" Chace looked confused as he sat down in the chair opposite hers on the other side of her desk.

Livie stood up and shut the door. Chace leaned back with a grin, "Wow in the work place? Livie you wild girl."

"Ha Ha." She rolled her eyes. "That's kind of what this is about."

"Having sex in the work place?"

"No. Just the sex. I think we should...stop."

"Stop?"

"Chace, I don't want to hurt you-"

"Liv, I know it's just sex. I'm a big boy."

Livie sighed. "But I don't want to lose your friendship. And while the sex is amazing, I care way more about you."

"Is there someone else?" Chace wanted to know.

"No." Livie replied quickly. Another lie, although this time Chace didn't seem to notice. Or if he did he didn't say anything.

"OK Liv." He opened up the take out bag and pulled out some containers.

"This smells incredible." Livie gave Chace a small smile. "Thank you."

"Anything for you Livie." He forced himself to smile back.
