《In Lockdown With Them》Chapter 2: Munchkin

"I didn't know they started coming back," Luke whispered, his arms still holding me, my head tucked under his chin.
"They didn't," I said, my voice was raspy and my throat was sore from screaming this early in the morning.
"Liv I know the anniversary is coming soon and that probably triggered the nightmares but I seriously think you should-"
"No" I interrupted, already knowing what he was about to say, "I'm not going to a therapist again Luke. I'm okay- actually, more than okay. I'm great. It's just one nightmare and I haven't been having them for a really long time. Please don't make me go there again... I swear I'm okay."
Luke sighed and rubbed my back, "I don't know liv, I'm actually re-thinking about leaving you all alone in this state. I'm thinking of applying to the community college nearby. I mean, I'm sure if NYU accepted me then the community college will probably accept me too."
Luke was eighteen years old turning nineteen in a couple of months, two years older than me, meaning this year would be the first year of university for him. He had applied to NYU, his dream university, a few months ago and got accepted. He was planning on leaving after tomorrow.
Honestly, I'm not even surprised he got accepted, because other than being able to take care of his younger sister for a whole year after our old legal guardian, aunt Becky, overdosed and was sent to rehab two months after Luke's eighteenth birthday, meaning he was able to switch places with her and have legal authority over me, working two jobs at the same time, going to school, and fitting some time in his schedule to spend time with me, the boy was really smart, great at football (last year's school team's QB), and charming as hell; any college would want him.

"No!" I exclaimed, pulling my face away from his chest to look at him properly. "If you think I'm letting you turn down an amazing opportunity like this just because of one silly nightmare of mine, then you're stupider than I thought."
"But-"
"No, Luke I already sent the apartment applications and got accepted by the best one. I'm going to continue both junior and senior year at Rosewood high and that's final. Plus, you already know that Mrs. and Mr. Martin are always there for emergencies."
Mrs. and Mr. Martin are my best friend Huda's parents, we have been best friends since third grade, the year she came from Canada. Her parents are two of the sweetest people in this stupid town. Mrs. Martin has always been like a second mother to Luke and me and was there for us in ways many adults weren't.
"But Liv- wait you found an apartment?"
"Yes, and it's perfect, based on the photos, it's enormous and extremely homey, and it has the perfect price. It's just a couple of blocks away from school, so I would be able to cycle or walk there every day. I'll be sharing the apartment with a senior in our school named Bella and I am supposed to be meeting her next Tuesday and checking out the apartment. And I know, I know, you leave after tomorrow and school starts next Monday, but I'll be staying at Huda's until I move into the apartment."
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Luke asked, his voice filled with worry.
I smiled at my older brother, "Yes, I'm sure Luke."
"I'm going to miss you Munchkin, so much" He ruffled my blonde hair playfully.
"I'm gonna miss you too, Luke," I whispered.
"Promise me you'll call every day Liv, every day. Because if you don't pick up after I call you multiple times in one day, I'm getting in my car and driving all the way to Rosewood to personally kick your ass," Luke playfully warned, a smile making its way on his face.

"I promise."
"Great, now get your ass outta bed, we're going out." He informed me before standing up and making his way to the door.
