Shoving a spoon full of chocolate froyo into my mouth, I listened to Kai and Zane talk about the clues.
"Lloyd? Are you listening?" Kai nundged my arm.
"Huh? Oh..y-yeah. Can you just repeat the last thing you said?" I stuck the plastic spoon in my ice cream.
"I said that while Misako looks in the backpack for possibly more clues and I will look at the scarf for maybe DNA clues. While you, Kai, Jay, Cole and Nya search the city for any hints of who Mr. C is." Zane replied. I nodded and ate more froyo.
I threw out the small, empty froyo container into the trash, I noticed two guys near the back looking at me. I looked at them and they turned their backs on me. I shrugged it off and walked back over to the booth Kai and Zane were at. As I walked over, a guy walked in and slammed into me, and walked to the back, keeping his head down, and his face was hidden by his coat. I glarred slightly and sat back down in the booth.
"What was that dudes problem?" Kai muttered.
"I dont know, but he seems kinda...suspicious." I growled under my breath.
"Well lets just ignore it. We have bigger issues to worry about right now." Zane redirected our attention back to thinking of a plan.
When I woke up from my slumber, I noticed I wasnt in my prison room anymore. I was actually locked up in a real jail cell. The floor was freezing cold and I had no blankets. Not even a pillow or a bed.
an evil chuckle came from beyond the cell bars. There was a man standing in the shadows. All I could see was his bright blood colored eyes.

"Who are you?!" I yelled at him and clentched my fists.
He sneered
"...Sensei Wu??"
"NO!! I am not that old timer tea lover beardo!"
"Well sorry but he goes by sensei wu and you did say i should call you sensei."
"Brat! What I mean is that im your teacher! Im going to teach you how to use your powers my way." He grinned, showing his daggered teeth.
"M-Mr. C?!" I yelped
"Thats right. Your first "training" starts tommorrow, brat." He gave a cold, heartless laugh and walked away.
"HEY!! MY BROTHER WILL FIND ME AND SAVE ME!! HE WILL KICK YOUR BUTT!!" I yelled, but Mr. C was already gone. I cant stay here! I have to escape! I turned into my shadow form and tried phasing through the bars.
Dang it! Venge stone bars!!
I jumped around the shadows in the cell, trying to find a way to escape, but no luck. I growled and kicked the bars. I kept kicking and punching, hoping the bars would break, but no luck. When I turned into my human form, my knuckles were bleeding from punching the jail cell bars.
After what I believe was hours of punching and kicking the bars, my hands were more bloody. I finally gave up and collapsed to my hands and knees.
"Someone help me!" I cried out as tears streamed down my face from the pain from my hands.
Lloyds pov:
"Got anything Zane?" I looked over his shoulder as he kept observing the scarf.
"Only Jades DNA so far..." Zane sighed. "Any clues about Mr. C?"
"Not yet. Jay, Cole, Kai, and Nya went back out to question some people." I looked at the purple scarf, and thought of Jade. I pictured him running right into my arms. We would hug and never let go, afraid that if we did let go, we would loose each other again. I sighed and sadly came back to reality from my fantasy.

"Hey Lloyd, how do you think Jade is doing?" Zane questioned me.
"Terrified. Hes only a kid, and Mr C has already got to him." I sighed again. Zane patted my shoulder.
"We will rescue him, Lloyd." He reasured me. I nodded and smiled a bit. My phone went off and I read the message.
"Lloyd, get to the froyo place now! You have to see this!" -Kai
"Hey Zane, Ill be back. Kai needs me down at the froyo place." I shouted as I ran out the door.
><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
I ran up to the froyo shop to see the three guys and Nya standing outside.
"Hey guys, whats going on?" I looked at everyone.
"Read the label on this cup." Kai handed me a froyo cup.
'Ryker Carsons Froyo. The power is within the froyo'
"I dont understand...why is this so important." I raised an eyebrow.
"Think about it, dude." Jay furrowed his brows. "His last name is Carson....Mr C....ring a bell?"
My eyes widen, relising that we just might have found our first lead!
*Next day*
Jades pov:
I was startled awake when Mr C. pounded on the bars.
He grinned evilly. I gulped and slowly crawled back.
"Oh please save me soon Lloyd." I thought to myself.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
