《The Tale Of Lloyd Garmadon》15

"So, where are we?" Lloyd asked quietly as the Bounty flew through a storm.
"Zane said it's a storm called Dead Man's Squall." Kai answered. "Never ending storm that sits over a labyrinth-like forest."
"So, if we were to crash-"
"How about we don't suggest that sort of thing, it'll freak out Jay." Kai joked.
"Jay freaks me out." Lloyd grumbled.
Kai laughed. "Why?"
"He's just so, hyper, and loud, and he keeps trying to talk to me at dinner, but he talks really loudly, and right in my ear, and he doesn't seem to hear me when I try to ask him to quiet down."
"I could talk to him-"
"No, it's fine. It's not like dealing with him being loud'll kill me or anything." Before Kai could speak, a loud bang came from down the hall, and the Bounty started to fall. "What going on!?" Lloyd exclaimed as he latched onto the sill of a nearby window.
"Uh, we're falling?!" Kai replied as he latched onto a doorframe.
"I got that Kai!" Lloyd shouted. "But why?! And do not say gravity!"
A thump came from above them. "I'm guessing that's the reason." Kai muttered.
Another, smaller thump came from above. "I'm sure you know who I'm here for." An unfamiliar voice began to speak. "Hand him over, and we let you fix your ship before you all die." Panic shot into Lloyd's mind. This is it. They're gonna hand me over to save their own skins. He looked over at Kai. But that doesn't make sense. Why would they have tried to hard to help me if they didn't care? "Tick Tock ninja, what'll it be, your lives or the son of Lord Garmadon?" People pretend to care all the time what makes them any different? A bright green light flashed outside. "I know you're here Little Garmadon, come on out so we can chat." The sound of fighting came from above.

"Lloyd I'm gonna go help the others fi-"
"Please don't-" Lloyd's voice was barely audible. What're you doing?! His brain questioned as he continued "Please don't leave me alone." Stop letting him see how you feel! Stop showing him how fucking terrified you are! Green lightning continued to flash around the ship. He's just going to use it against you. He's just going to figure out that you're just a scared little kid who doesn't know what he's doing!
But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe Kai could be the one acceptation to me hiding from people.
Or he could abandon you, leave you behind to suffer just like the rest of the people you thought you could trust!
But what if he's different?
Why would he be any different than all the fakes who used you for your powers? The people who abandoned you and didn't care in the slightest?
Kai nodded. "I'll stay here, I won't leave you okay?" He spoke, distracting Lloyd from his internal battle for a moment. "I'll keep you safe. I promise." Kai held out his hand, the gravity from the ship falling still pushing the two upward. "But I need you to trust me."
I want to trust Kai.
Then have fun dealing with the inevitable.
Lloyd reached out and grabbed Kai's hand. "I trust you."
Kai pulled Lloyd over to him. "Okay, but I have a question."
"What?"
"Do you want to fight them, or hide?" Kai askedTell him you want to fight, at least then he won't think you're a coward. "Because it'll be safer for you if you hide and I stand a little ways down the hall from where you are, but if you'd rather fight that's fine."
"I want to fight." But not because I don't want him to think I'm a coward, or because I don't want to appear weak. Lloyd thought as Kai nodded. Because I want to help the one person I can trust.

"Let's get above deck and help then."
Yelling came from above, more footsteps echoed. "Find him!" The voice from before shouted. "And don't forget, we need him alive!"
Lloyd thought for a second. "They need me alive." He repeated.
"What's with the tone of realization?" Kai questioned.
"The Quiet One said she needed my help getting a mask, an, an Oni Mask. Some relic left over from when the First Spinjitzu Master fought the Oni!" Lloyd explained. "And if they need me, a descendent of the First Spinjitzu Master, alive to get it. There must be some sort of security left by the Oni to keep anyone from getting it that only someone with Oni blood can get through!"
"So if we get the Sons of Garmadon locked up before they get you-"
"They can't go through with their plan, but that's not what I was meaning-"
"Wh-"
"Obviously they need the person with Oni blood to be alive-"
"No, do not suggest what I think you're suggesting!"
"There's no other way to do this! Either we all somehow fight off those assholes, or I jump out a window and make it easier for all of us!"
"You are not jumping out a window!"
"Off the side of the upper deck then!"
"Not what I mean Lloyd!" Kai grabbed Lloyd's face. "Promise me you won't try to do that." He said gently. "Please."
"Fine."

Embers in the Ash
Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!
