"I love you," my mother said to me as she held me against her hip. Neither I nor my mother knew it back then, but she had just been injected with a deadly snake venom.
"I love you," my father said to me as we sat on a bench overlooking the harbor. Back then I didn't know what was happening with my father.
"I love you," my mother said weakly as she laid on her bed. I didn't know it then, but in a week she was to pass.
"I love you," my brother said as he comforted me in the cemetery, handing me an orange lily to lay on my mother's grave.
"I love you," my father said as he made one last deal with the devil, ultimately trading his life and starting the long process of losing himself.
"I love you," my brother said as I held his head in my lap, tears streaming down my face as he took his final breath.
"I love you," I said as I stood in front of my family's graves, placing a single orange lily on each one.
"I love you," Lloyd told me before he took his finals steps to becoming who he was meant to be.
"I love you," I say, right before my body crashes to the ground.
-
Someone's careful hand on my shoulder jerks me awake. I gasp.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
I open my eyes slowly as the adjust to the light.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"My name is Garmadon."
I look up at the man who had killed so many. The man who was possessed by the Overlord, the man who caused so much pain.
I look up at the pure and innocent man. The man who wasn't in the right mind. The man whose son I love. Everyone deserves a second chance.

"Oh, I'm El. I believe we've met," I say, grinning.
He chuckles. "I believe we have."
He lends me a hand and brings me to my feet. I begin to walk and he begins to follow, but he stumbles.
"Here," I say. This time I offer him a hand. He thanks me and takes it, and together we walk out of the debris.
In the distance, I could see the ninja with Wu, Zane's father, and Misako.
"Lloyd!" Garmadon says. Lloyd looks up.
"Dad? El? You're- you're both alive! And, you've met?"
I laugh as he envelops me in a hug.
"I thought you-"
"It's gonna take more than me plummeting eighty feet to kill me," I say, grinning.
Garmadon chuckles. I had forgotten he was there.
"Dad! You're alive too!" Lloyd says, hugging his father. I smile and walk away, letting them have their moment.
"Is it really you?" Misako says, staring at her husband.
"I-I feel good," Garmadon says.
"It's good to have you back, brother," Wu says.
"Wu! Good to be back."
I smile at their family reunion.
"El!" Kai exclaims. Then he hits me in the shoulder.
"OW!"
"Don't ever scare me like that again!"
The boys laugh as he wraps his arms around me. I look over his shoulder to see Nya alive and well.
"Nya!" I shout. She looks up and we meet in a hug.
Lloyd and his parents walk away, talking together.
"Aw, they're all back together again," Jay says.
"Let's leave them alone," Kai suggests.
"Do you think there'll be others?" Zane asks.
"I hope so," Cole says. "I like being a ninja."
"Me too. Though I was a bit late to the party," I say.
"Who knows? The balance between good and evil may be right today, but there's always tomorrow," Kai says.
"And we'll be ready."
