No POV:

Zane went to his locker to get his books for his next lesson when he felt someone tap his shoulder. He turned around and was happy to see Camille standing there.

"Hey Camille! You okay?" He asked

"Zane... look, your really sweet but... I think we should break up." She said.

Zane was taken aback by this. He and Camille has been dating for over a year and she never seemed unhappy around him. She always said she loved him and she asked HIM out first.

"I-I don't understand... did I do something wrong?" He asked. He could feel the tears grow in his eyes.

"Of course not! I just think that maybe.... we aren't too good together."

Zane felt as if he had been stabbed a million times in the heart. Hiding the pain was a difficult challenge but he managed it.

"You gonna be okay?" She asked. Zane didn't respond. He couldn't. He gave a small nod and Camille left. Zane collapsed to the ground in a crumpled mess. Heartbreak was something new to him but he never imagined it would ever be this painful.

The bell for his next lesson rang but he didn't get up. He felt paralysed. Eventually he managed to pick himself up as he stumbled to his next lesson.

~~~2 weeks later~~~

Zane's POV:

It's been two weeks since Camille broke up with me and I just can't get over her! I constantly think of her, constantly look at her and constantly worry about what I could have done wrong.

Heartbreak is a terrible thing and I hope to never experience it ever again. I probably won't though since Camille is the only girl in school who is comfortable with dating a droid like myself.

At lunch I sit by myself and just stare at Camille for a while. At least I now know why she broke up with me. She just wanted to date Cryptor who is way more popular than me. Now that I think about it, doesn't Cryptor have a girlfriend?

I asked my friend Kai about it but he told me that they had broken up so he could date Camille. Apparently it was a big thing in the school and I somehow didn't hear about it. Then again, I don't really talk to anyone.

Nya told me that her name is Pixal and that she is a droid like me. She is probably feeling as upset as I am so I will talk to her at lunchtime.

~~~Timeskip~~~

I walked into the lunchroom and after while, I found Pixal, sitting alone, in the far corner of the room. She really did look as upset as me. I took a deep breath and walked over to her.

"Hey." I said. She looked up unmoved.

"Hey." She responded

"Are you Cryptor's ex?" I asked

"Yes. But I would not consider it my identity." She said frustrated. "My actual name is Pixal."

"I'm Zane." I said. The sparked her attention.

"Wait. Zane as in... Zane Julien? The guy that Camille just broke up with?" She asked.

"Yep. That's me..." I said.

There was quite a long silence. In the end, it just resulted in the two of us staring at Camille and Cryptor.

"She's too good for him." Pixal finally said.

"Yeah... she's too good for me too."

"I'm sorry you two broke up."

"Thanks. Sorry about you and Cryptor too."

"I'd give anything to have him back."

"Yeah... me too."

Then, I had an idea. Pixal must have noticed how my eyes lit up when it came to me.

"What is it?" She asked

"Well.... if we both want to get back with our ex's... and they're dating eachother....."

"Then we can pretend that we're dating, and make them jealous!"

"Precisely! You in?"

"Most definitely."

"Okay. But if we're doing this, I think we need a few rules." I said

"Your right. How about... no kissing. I think that's just taking it too far." She said.

"Yes yes. How about... if one of us successfully gets with our ex, they still have to keep the charade up long enough for the other one." I suggested

"Right. Also, we must not tell anybody whatsoever about what we're doing. We need to convince everyone that we are a couple."

"Hmm... how about if one of us says that we see either Cryptor or Camille, we take their word for it. No matter what. If we take too long to look for them it's going to be suspicious." I said.

This suggestion made her think longer than the others. I was kinda beginning to regret saying it.

"S-sorry. Just forget I said anything..." I said.

"No. Your right. We need to trust eachother."

"Great. I think that's enough rules for now. We can always just add some more as we go along." I said

"Good. Oh, also, just as a bit of advise for both of us, let's... not, try to fall in love with eachother like they do in the movies." She said

I scoffed silently at the idea.

"I don't think we need to worry about that. Being Nindroids, it would be implausible for us to start feeling romantic obligations towards eachother." I said. She smiled at me.

"Great. Sooo..... what do we do now?"

"I don't know.... hold hands?"

"I guess that would work." She said, taking my hand.

I blushed slightly. Her hand was really warm and soft. Is that creepy? Wait. Am I seriously already going against the advice?? No, that's crazy!! I have a crush on Camille. Not Pixal.

No POV:

Whist Zane and Pixal had been talking, Cryptor and Camille has been watching them out of the corner of there eyes.

"Ha. Looks like our losers got together." Cryptor joked

"Hey! Call your own ex a loser but leave mine alone. He isn't popular but he wasn't a huge loser." Camille said

"Are you seriously still into him??"

"Of course not! I was just defending him."

"Update on the Pixal-Zane situation, they are now holding hands." Cryptor said

"What?!?"

"And now their hugging."

"Ugh. Whatever. Let's go eat lunch outside."

"Sounds good to me." Cryptor said.

~~~a few weeks later~~~

Zane's POV:

Honestly, Camille breaking up with me is the best thing that's ever happened to me. It's so entertaining to watch her and Cryptor get really annoyed every time me and Pixal make fake 'goo-goo eyes' at eachother.

Speaking of Pixal, she is actually really sweet and... kinda cute I guess....

I thought I had a crush on her but I'm pretty sure I was just being paranoid. Although one thing that is making the whole plan go really slowly is the no kissing rule. NOT BECAUSE I WANT TO KISS HER but because I think it would really make Camille and Cryptor jealous. But I obviously won't tell Pixal about it! Mostly because I'm too scared.... but we can only get so far with just hugs and hand-holding.

I went into the dinning hall like I usually did and was surprised when Camille walked over to me and said that 'we need to talk.'

She led me over to the left side of the cafeteria.

"Look Zane, I know about your plan." She said

"W-wha? P-plan? W-what plan?"

"I know that you don't actually like Pixal, I know that you two are just faking it, I know that you are just trying to make me jealous. And do you know what?"

"W-What?" I asked

"It's working. So I want you to knock it off." She said

"I'm sorry, 'knock it off'?" I asked

"I want you to 'break up' with Pixal." She said.

"Uhhh...."

"I can't believe I'm saying this.. I want you to take me back." She said.

"Wait, really?"

"Breaking up with you was a mistake. And I'm really sorry for what I did..."

I was speechless. I couldn't think of one reason why Camille would suddenly want to get back with me. My first instinct would be to say yes but I caught a glimpse over her shoulders and saw Pixal. She was smiling at me and giving me a big thumbs up. I smiled back and blushed slightly. Did she always look that attractive?

"Zane?" I heard. I was snapped out of my day dream.

"Huh?"

"Will you take me back?" She repeated

"I... I... I'm sorry. I guess I'm just... not into you anymore." I said with a small smile.

"Oh. I see." She said. But the way she said it was almost evil.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked. She smirked at me.

"Looks like your rebound backfired." She smirked

"Reabound? What do you mean??" I asked

But she already walked off. I sighed and went over to mine and Pixal's table.

"Heyy Zane!" She said with a hopeful smile.

"Hi Pix." I sighed

"Oh no, did I not interpret the situation wrong??"

"N-no... it's fine."

"What happened? I saw you taking with Camille... did she not ask you out?"

"No... she did... but... I turned her down for some reason."

"You don't know why you said no?"

"Maybe I just thought that she wasn't trustworthy or something?" I suggested.

This was a lie of course. I know exactly why I said no. The only thing is, I'm now mad at myself for actually having a dumb, stupid crush!!

"B-but don't worry... I'll still help you get back with Cryptor."

"You wouldn't really have a choice. We made a deal remember?"

"Y-yeah. I know." I said.

~~~one week later~~~

Zane's POV:

I still can't believe that I turned down Camille! And what's worse is that I now have an impossible crush on an impossible girl!! It's really hard to pretend not to like-like her whilst I need to help her get back with her ex. Every day is like a dream and a nightmare at the same time. I'm constantly worrying that Cryptor would talk to her and they'd get back together.

The only one who I trust to tell my crush to is Jay who wasn't much help. He said that I should just tell her but I don't want to make things awkward with her!!

Then again.... I don't want to wait so long that she ends up dating Cryptor and I'll never get the chance to tell her... I can't believe I'm about to do this.

"H-heya... Pixal? Can I ask you something?" I asked

"Sure thing."

"Umm... I was wondering if... maybe you'd be interested in... going to the docks of ninjago with me tonight?"

"Oh cool. Sounds nice." She said

"Really? You wanna go?"

"Of course I do!"

"O-ohKay. Umm... see you at.. 8?"

"See you then." She smiled.

I blushed and went to find Jay.

"I did it!! I did it I did it I did it!!!"

"No way! You got a date?" He asked

"I got a date!!"

"Cool, cool, cool. Did you specifically tell her that it was a date?"

"I- uhhhh.... was a meant to?" I asked awkwardly.

"Oh Zane Zane Zane...."

"Oh come on! I'll tell her on the date. I swear."

"Right. Suuuure you will." Jay said

"I will! I swear on my falcons life."

"Your falcon doesn't have a life its a robot." Jay pointed out.

"You know what I mean!!"

"Fine. Fine. Whatever. I'll take your word for it. Aww man you guys are gonna be the cutest couple ever!!!!"

"You said that about me and Camille."

"That was to make you feel more confident."

"You also said the same thing to Kai when he asked out Skylor." I said

"Same thing. This time I mean it."

"But I recall you saying that you and Nya would make a cute couple."

"Wha-wha?!? H-how do you know abou- I mean, who is this... 'Nya'?" He asked nervously

"Nya Smith. Kai's little sister. You've had a crush on her since she joined the school." I said

"Y-you don't think Kai knows does he?" Jay asked

"Don't worry. The only ones who know is everyone except for Nya." I said

"Ugghh!!!!! Tell you what, if you and Pixal start dating, I'll ask Nya on a date."

"You can ask Nya in a date if you want. I'm still going on my date with Pixal." I said

"Whatever!!" He shouted as he walked away quickly.

I chuckled at the thought of Jay actually asking a girl out. Every time he tried to ask a girl out, something went terribly wrong. Like he would accidentally knock them over. Or he might get bullied before he asks a girl. Hopefully when he asks Nya, things will go better.
