《Brother of Wind (ninjago au)》chapter 16

Digging in the middle of the flipping desert, Pythor and Skales were looking for the lost city of Ouroboros.
"We're wasting our time, Pythor. There's nothing here but sand and dust." Skales sighed.
"Keep digging! The losy city of Ouroboros under us. I know it!" Pythor shouts.
"Oh, face it, your first attempt to unite the tribes failed, and now that you have lost your flock, you've become desperate." Skales retorts.
"I am desperate, my disloyal number two, but only to bring our kind together so that we can unleash the great devourer!" Pythor snaps.
"You put too much faith in legends. Besides, all the Serpentine know is to be at war with one another." Skales insulted. Pythor dug regardless. Soon, he heard a clank and found a beige coloured dial.
"Skales, I believe we've found it."
Pythor tuned the dial. Building rose out of the sand. They looked ancient and resembled old architecture.
"I present to you the city formerly known as the Lost City of Ouroboros."
The bounty rose from the clouds flying forwards in the air. Behind, a mail man was trying to catch up on a bike.
(But dude, how is that possible???)
"First, I'll stomp on his tail!" Lloyd was telling Kai, Cole, Zane and Jay how he would defeat a serpentine.
"Then when he turns, a thunderclap to his ears! Then when he's stunned, I'll disarm him!"
"Too late! He's already hypnotized you and now you're under his control!" Cole intercepted with alternative routes.
"Or he's already put you in a squeeze." Zane added.
"Or spit on you with his hallucinatory venom!" Kai turned to Lloyd.
"Trust me. Bad stuff."
"Ah, uncle, what's the best way to stun a serpentine if you don't know what kind they are?" Lloyd turned to his uncle. Sensei Wu sighed.
"Sadly, it was the sacred flu--"
"AAAAHH!" Jay interrupted his speech because Morro walked in the room.
Everyone knows that he blames himself for losing it, and they didn't want to put any guilt on his shoulders.
"We may have prevented the serpentine from uniting in the past, but they will try again, and one day, they will be stronger." Sensei said.
"Don't worry. I've almost unlocked my full potential!" Cole said.
"Yeah, you have been working hard." Morro backed up Cole's claim.
"Uhun, and when I become the green ninja, we're not gonna need any magic flute!" Cole slashed his arm around.
"You're gonna be the green ninja?"
Kai raised an eyebrow.
"Haha, don't make me laugh." Kai pointed at Cole.
"I thought it was decided that I was destined to be the green ninja." Zane said.
"Oh, the only thing decided about you Zane, is that your weird!" Jay put a hand on Zane. The four started to fight with each other.
"Uh, is this normal?" Lloyd asked Morro.
"They've been doing this a lot." Morro replied.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, what's in the box?" Lloyd walked up to Sensei Wu.
"Your new uniforms." Sensei said opening it. It caught the attention of everyone and stopped the argument.
They all gasped. Each one swiped it from the box to take a new look.
"Woah! They've got like armor!" Jay exclaimed.

"I love the gold highlights!" Kai said.
"Battle claws!" Cole strait up yelled.
"The material is really light and breathable." Zane said.
"It does looks pretty sweet!" Morro said.
"Nothing for me?" Lloyd asked.
"Oh, you get uh, the box." Sensei said sliding it over to Lloyd. An alarm went off. The boys rushed to the bridge.
"Sorry to break up the moment, boys, but a small fraction of our slithering friends are stirring up trouble at Mega Monster Amusement Park." Cole said.
"Amusement Park? Can I go? Can I go with you, please? Let me make things up! I can help!" Lloyd pleaded.
"I'm sorry, nephew. You will stay here, where it's safe." Sensei said.
"Aww, ninja get all the fun." Lloyd pouted.
"Won't be long kid." Morro ruffled Lloyd's hair.
"What do you say guys? Time to try out the new merchandise!" Jay held up his new suit.
The ninja were fully dressed in their new suits. Jumping off the bounty and landing at the amusement park. There they were met with a group of people cheering.
"Ladies! Ladies, calm down!" Jay said trying to impress them.
"The heroes have arrived-- uh..." The crowd in front of them cleared and the ninja were face with a group of serpentine all tied up.
"What happened here?" Kai asked.
"Oh, you totally just missed it!" One girl said.
"Yeah, there were these snake guys attacking us, then this super handsome samurai came down and captured them all!" Another girl said.
"The same one from before?" Morro suggested.
"You saw his face?" Cole asked.
"Well, no but he was totally awesome!" The girls replied.
All of the sudden Nya walked up to the ninja holding some treats.
"Oh, hey! Yeah, you guys just missed it!" Nya said handing over the sweets to the girls from before.
"He just flew in and took care of things!" Nya walked off.
The boys looked at her, however only one person seemed to think her sudden presence was unusual: Morro.
Again, he kept this information to himself.
All around them, the ninja would hear pedestrians talking trash about the ninja and idolizing this new mysterious samurai hero.
"Arg! Who is this guy?!" Kai asked annoyed.
"Whoever he is, he's steeling out thunder." Cole said.
"And we just got these cool new ninja suits!" Jay complained.
"Ah! I'm gonna say it, I hate samurai!" Jay crosses his arms.
"Do I hear a hint of jealousy?" Sensei Wu walked up to the ninja.
"Maybe this can be a lesson for you." He waved around some cotton candy he had.
"Aww, not another lesson-- wait how did you get here so fast?" Jay questioned.
The others have learned not to question their sensei by now.
"The lesson is: iron sharpens iron." Sensei ignored Jay.
"I do not follow sensei." Zane said.
"Healthy competition can help you reach your full potential. Do not be jealous of that samurai, let it inspire you." Sensei said walking past the boys. He then sped off excitedly towards the Ferris wheel.
"Inspire?" Jay repeated.
"He means we shouldn't compare how much better he is. We should take that and improve." Morro said clarifying it.

"I sometimes question how you decipher him." Cole told Morro.
"Wait a minute. Maybe the old man's right!" Kai said thinking over it.
"You want us to compete with the samurai?!" Cole exclaimed.
"He has all the cool gadgets; we don't stand a chance!"
"Did you not hear what I just said?!" Morro asked.
"No not with him! With us!" Kai said.
"I say we turn this into our own competition! Whichever of us is skilled enough to catch this mysterious samurai is probably the best of the bunch!" Kai drew his golden sword and spun it around.
"So, whoever learns the identity of the samurai, is the one who will become the green ninja!" Jay said. Morro face palmed.
"Ahh, you guys won't learn." He muttered.
"Oh, come on Morro, don't you want to know who in Ninjago gassed you?!" Zane asked. Morro was surprised. He wasn't really temped by revenge but, he kinda wanted pay back.
"Fine." Morro admitted.
"Then it's a bet. May the green ninja win! Well except Morro, we all know it's not him." Cole said. Morro walked away in annoyance.
"Ninja-GO!!" The remaining four shouted.
The alarm went off again.
"Multiple snake sightings! They're everywhere!" Nya said furiously pushing buttons. The ninja were forced to split up.
Zane raced off to a snowy area his bike to a small village being attacked by a group of hypnobrai. However, as soon as he got there, the hypnobrai were all tied up. The samurai stood there laughing at Zane then flew off.
"Metal menace!" Zane threw snow in the air.
(Look who's talking.)
In a forest Kai was surrounded by constictai. A group of girls were cheering g for him.
"Go ninja go!!" They shouted.
Just as Kai was about to attack, a net surrounded the group of serpentine and was picked up and trapped but the samurai!
"Go samurai! Oh...!" The girls switched their cheer. Kai sighed.
"Ninja-Go!!" Kai activated his spinjitzu hoping to do something. The samurai raised out his hand and shot a net at Kai as well.
"Hey! What's going on?!!!" Kai yelled in confusion.
In a cave, the samurai was fighting a mixture of serpentine and knocked them all away just before Cole got there.
"Oh, now I got you!" Cole yelled as he swung his scythe. He landed on the hand of the red mech. Cole laughed in victory. The hand of the mechanical suit shot out and launched Cole into a wall.
A train was nearing Jay. Jay had a pink dress on and looked around for anyone. He was alone. Jay slipped on a blonde girl's wig and lay on the track.
(Top tier cosplay Jay.)
"Oh, Samurai, help!" Jay yelled in a high-pitched voice. The giant metal suit dropped down from the sky.
But instead of picking Jay up and giving him the opportunity to reveal his identity, the samurai place train tracks around Jay so the train wouldn't hit him.
"GAH! STUPID SAMURAI!!" Jay screamed so loud as the samurai flew off.
Morro ran to a village near the big city. There were sightings of serpentine attacking there. As soon as he arrived, he saw a group of serpentine tied up with the samurai standing beside them. The whole village was praising and thanking the samurai. Morro sighed.
"You beat me." He said as he saluted the mech that then flew off.
Kai rode his elemental bike in the Ninjago city with Lloyd sitting behind him stopping at an arcade.
"Okay, I know it's my turn to look after you, but just play a few games and stay put while I look around." Kai handed Lloyd a few coins.
"I have the feeling the samurai may show up."
"Well, let me help!" Lloyd offered.
"No! Both your uncle and cousin don't want you in this stuff." Kai denied.
"Come ooonn! At least drop me off at a decent arcade!" Lloyd whined.
"Sorry shorty." Kai sped off.
"Kai, wait!!" Lloyd called out wanting to join in this mess. Kai didn't stop, he soon was out of sight.
Lloyd turned to enter the arcade. He just about opened the door when he over herd a conversation. He went to check it out.
"I hear he found it, and everyone is gathering again." It was a few serpentine having a conversation.
"Impossible the lost city does not exist." Another serpentine said.
"Well, it isn't lost anymore, haha, and I hear there's going to be a fight." The first moved towards a bus.
Lloyd carefully approached the group, remaining hidden. He saw the serpentine getting in line for a bus that was going to an "Ouroboros".
Lloyd walked out of the alley when he saw a convenient serpentine disguise. In a shop. He looked at the coins he had in his hands.
Later, Lloyd came out of the said shop with the disguise on. He rushed towards the bus if serpentine and got in line. He was the last one on and the driver called him out.
"You!" The serpentine painted at Lloyd.
Uh-oh, did they find out?
"Last one in closes the door." The serpentine said.
"Oh, uh, yeah okay." Lloyd said nervously.
The bus approached the lost city in the desert. Lloyd looked around and gasped at all the architecture. There was loud cheering. Serpentine of all kinds were in the stands around the center of the city.
-time skip cause I don't wanna write pythor's dumb speech. -
Pythor had challenged each of the serpentine generals to a fight for their staffs. Just as he was in a corner, Pythor took out the sacred flute that he stole from the ninja. He played it but it had no effect because he put ear plugs in before. The rest of generals threw down their staffs.
Lloyd gasped.
"He's using the sacred flute against his own!"
"Bow to your master." Pythor commanded. The serpentine generals bowed. The rest in the stand bowed as well. Lloyd dropped the shakers he was holding, and they hit the ground.
Shoot! His cover was blown! Lloyd tried to run but a serpentine beside him caught him and pulled off his disguise.
"Where do you think you're going?" The serpentine threatened.
"Lloyd??!!!!!" Pythor exclaimed.
Dangit! Lloyd got caught! He was in the captivity of all the serpentine tribes united.

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
