《Jam Fest Book Club》~How This Bish Works~

We know this page contains a lot of information but please bear with us. Everything here is important to keeping this madhouse organized.
👮♀️Rules:
We don't tolerate bullies here. It's just that simple. Cross the line and you'll get tossed off festival grounds.
You have to be able to handle constructive criticism. Not everyone is going to like your book, but as long as they aren't being a jerk, there shouldn't be any complaints.
to your library and public reading list. You Don't want to miss updates, and spreading the word always helps.
- , , and .
We're sorry to you youngers, but we accept mature content and are not comfortable putting those stories in underaged hands. No, we do not make exceptions.
Though our founders are moms, they're not your mom. You need to be responsible for yourself. Don't wait for your partner to read your book before you read theirs. Make sure you read all announcements posted in each round, important changes and info are placed there. If you don't read it and miss something, that's on you. If you change your username/book title/whatever, let us know. If your partner can't find your book because you didn't update us, that's on you too.
8. We no longer require members to join our Discord server in order to join the club.
We can't stress this one enough. You don't want your book taken down, trust us!
Prologues will only count as a chapter if it has 1000 words.
The only exception to this rule is if you make it to Shadow Royalty status but that also means twice the work, so think hard about that.
If you're uncomfortable reading those then this is probably not the place for you.
⚠️New Procedures concerning new members⚠️
We've decided to change the way we do things a little bit when accepting new members. While we will still glance over new member applicants' books before accepting them for a trial membership, we will not be including those new trial members in regular reading groups. Instead, there is a two-step process.
Step one: They will be required to comment on a founder book that is assigned to them.
Step two: They will be placed in trial groups with two of our founders. The group will conduct the same as all the others, with the same amount of chapters read as well as comments, but at the end of the two-week trial if the trial member was not able to complete their assignments to the degree we expect of our members, misses an assignment, or if their book turns out to need more help than our club can offer, the trial member can be turned down and removed. In some cases, a new trial member may be turned down after the first week if it is obvious the book needs more help than we can provide or if they fail to complete their first week.
THE BENEFIT OF THIS is that if someone is turned down at the end of their trial they can take the feedback they received from our founders to edit their book and reapply. The minimum waiting period to reapply is one month.

Is the trial member does pass their two-week trial, they will be added to one of our regular reading groups and gain access to everything our club has to offer. It is also at this point that the new member will be given the link to our Discord, which is mandatory to join if they wish to continue with us.
Read ALL of this. We will answer PMs with questions that are not answered here but if you ask us something that is mentioned here, it'll be really obvious you didn't read everything and may not be responsible enough to handle this.
⚫️
This club works in reading groups. Everyone is divided into groups of 3 members. Groups will not be decided by genre but instead will be determined by the number of chapters(normally, sometimes crap just happens though). Each group will be assigned a name and a group manager(admin) or founder.
Each week you will read and comment on one chapter from each person in your group(except your own of course) as well as one chapter from the BOTW(book of the week.) This will have you reading/commenting on 3 chapters each week.
Yes, besides the BOTW, you will be reading the same books each week, but we believe this gives everyone a better chance at having their entire story reviewed rather than just the first few chapters. When the time comes that you have read the entirety of your group, or they you, we then look into switching the groups around. Sometimes smaller changes are made for different reasons, it happens.
We would really love it if you didn't jump and read the entirety of your partner's stories. It would be better if everyone in the group was moving along at the same pace. If not, then we have to move you to another group which means your story was not completely reviewed and you now have a new batch of people reading those first few chapters your last group just did. So this is merely our suggestion if you want to get everything you possibly can from this club.
Do not edit your book, or at least the chapters your partners are reviewing, during an active round. Doing this can result in a loss of inline comments which will make things extremely hard for our admins.
All members are listed in their reading group every round. If the words break/extension/skip is next to someone's name, you don't read their book that week!
🔵
All comments must begin with. If your comment does not contain the tag, it will not count toward your assignment. This not only makes it easier for us to find your comments but also helps to spread the word. The more members we have, the better it is for all of us.
As mentioned before, you will be commenting on one chapter from each member in your group and one chapter of BOTW. Each chapter must contain a . Doing more than 2 is not mandatory but looks good if you want to become Jam Idols.
You must also leave per chapter. End of chapter comments can be no shorter than .
These commenting guidelines are the same for the Book of the Week.

To recap, 2 inline comments and 1 end of chapter comment. That's a total of per chapter, per book, even for BOTW.
Now for quality, we feel this really shouldn't need to be said but...a lot of the time it does. This is where our high standards come into play.
- Inline comments don't need to be over the top. These are great for pointing out grammar mistakes, rewording a sentence that may seem poorly phrased to you, and giving your opinion on a specific sentence or paragraph.
- End of chapter comments is where you need to shine. This is where you should be reviewing the whole chapter. Sum up previously mentioned advice. Maybe you felt a certain way about a character or scene, let the author know what that is. Everything about this comment is in the details. The more details, the better for both you and the author.
-Again, no crying if someone's comment wasn't all butterflies and rainbows.
-Also keep in mind your tone when commenting. We aren't trying to tear each other apart!
After completing your assignments leave a comment next to your name in the current round. Your "Done" comment must contain which chapter of your partners' books you've completed as well as your group's admin/lord.
@admin Done chapter 1 of blank, chapter 1 of blank, chapter 2 of blank, and chapter 1 of blank.
All "Done" comments must be in by (U.S. Central Time) every .
Those who can't hold up to club standards will be warned. If it happens again you will either be placed on a trial period to get your act together or kicked out.
🔴
Rounds will last (7 days) and end each week on
The new rounds will be posted on .
In order to be included in the next round, assignments must be completed with your "Done" comment posted, by (U.S. Central time). If you're not sure what that is your time, google time zone differences. Failure to have your comment in and assignments finished by this time will result in you being left out of the current week as well as other consequences(mentioned below).
🟡🟡
We do accept breaks and extensions, to a point.
must be requested to either the club profile or one of our three founders. These requests will not be accepted last minute, we ask for at least a before the cut-off time for that round.
can be requested at any time as long as you have completed the current round. When requesting a break, please include for how long and the exact day you plan to return. Breaks are only allowed for a . After 4 weeks we will count you as a dropout. We may check in with you at the end of your break but it is ultimately your responsibility to get in touch with us when it is time for you to return. If you wish to return after being removed you will be added back as a trial member and will have to redo your two-week trial period.
⚪️⚪️
If you miss an assignment during your two-week trial period, you are .
If you miss an assignment as a full-fledged member you will get , to get your crap together and finish the missed round. If it still isn't done by the start of the following round, you are .
If you do not have your assignments done by the deadline or do not have your "Done" comment in by the deadline, or if you fail to follow the comment guidelines, you will be PMed with a strike.
If you get a strike and then finish your missed assignment, because you're a dedicated member and wish to stick around, your strike will be removed.
Password=your favorite music artist(can be band/solo doesn't matter.)
After cashing in your first 10 notes for Idol status, every not you earn after can be collected and cashed in for prizes.
. For each round your reviews are lacking, you lose a music note until you lose your title. You can also lose notes for being late. This doesn't mean you have to go above and beyond all the time, but if you're clearly not putting in much effort, we will be able to tell, and we will take away a note.
Every round we post a "Question of the Week" aka QOTW. This question is not required but is another way to earn music notes and have some fun. These questions are to be answered at the end of each chapter in your partners' books and the BOTW. They also must be easily identifiable with the . The QOTW doesn't have to be answered in its own comment but must include the hashtag in order for your admin to find it.
By answering the QOTW you get:
- 1 music note for answering in BOTH partners' books
- 1 music note for answering in the BOTW
🟢Book of the Week🟢
Book of the week or BOTW, is when a member's book is chosen to be showcased for a specific round. and part of your weekly assignments, though you only have to read one chapter. When adding BOTW to your group assignments, this will bring you to a total of three chapters for the week. Not a lot, right?
Comment guidelines for BOTW are the same as regular comment guidelines used when reading a chapter from one of your group members.
Those with the BOTW in their group must read two chapters of the BOTW. One chapter as their regular assignment and one for BOTW.
So, how do you get BOTW?
You earn it. Plain and simple. Being showcased as BOTW and having the entire club read your book is a privilege given to our Jam Idols. If you want that privilege, we suggest doing your best each week and gaining Jam Idol status. Once you do that, your name will be put into our Idol/BOTW lottery. To keep things fair, the Idol showcased will be selected at random with an online number generator.
The time BOTW will not be chosen through the generator is if an Idol has earned enough music notes through hard work and cashes them in to be the next BOTW. But even with that, we have restrictions in the name of fairness. This prize can't be chosen if the person has been BOTW within the last three months, giving others a chance to be showcased as well.

Taverns edge - A mercenary's guide to Ley Line traveling
The taverns edge is a fiction that centers around a pair of unusual friends. A mercenary that happens to be a princess of fae, but prefers to stay in a well-known établissement instead of staying in the Sidhe. Moira. Being half a dragon doesn't really help getting along with snobbish elitists at her mother's court. Like all sidhe she likes to strike a good deal... Which has led into many a disaster... Though she always tends to get by, especially when she gets home to the Tavern on the edge. The mentioned établissement is run by the formidable Barkeeper and jack of all trades Tora, who happens to have a very interesting past. Which involves more than one sinister secret... Now add to the mix a totally clueless elven girl - a mortal, not a fae- on the run. Lunara. She has unknowingly struck a deal with the devil - quite literally. Now unable to handle the consequences on her own she enters the tavern on the edge. An epicenter for magic and the only place where she might find help. She talks Moira into helping her out. A race against time begins as the deal's symbols appear on Lunara's skin. The journey leads to the dwarven empire, the sidhe and wherever the crossing leylines under the tavern may lead. This fiction belongs to the same universe as Ancient Blood. English is not my native language, so please don't be harsh. This story is an adaption of an idea, that we, a friend of mine and me, have developed over a few months while taking a break from learning. Some parts were written by Emberspark. Thank you for allowing me to work with your ideas and letting me publish this as a whole. Updates... I will try to frequently update both of my fictions... Well in case you are interested I post it on Scribble hub, too. I really don't steal from myself 😂
