《Sinister One-Shots》#4. Chris x Milo (Chrilo)

There was always this one mysterious boy that Milo wondered about. He always hung around in the darkest corner of the room that all of him and the other dead children were in. Milo had asked Stephanie and Ted about him, considering they had been around longer than him.

According to Stephanie, the mysterious boy was named Chris Miller. He was fifteen and the oldest out of all of them. Apparently, Bughuul chose him for his defensive skills and for his ability to wield a knife well enough.

According to Ted, Chris had always been quiet. He barely talked, and when he did, it was to inform them of something Bughuul had wanted them to do.

All of this just made Milo want to talk to this Chris character. But he never did. Until one day...

It was late at night in Springfield, Illinois. The crickets chipped outside and all of Bughuul's children decided to spend time in the church tonight. Ted, Peter, and Ethan were talking about some role-playing game while Cameron and Stephanie ran around the church like little maniacs. Danielle, Ashley, and Catherine talked about their own hobbies and Emma watched over them all like a big sister. But as always, Chris was in the corner. He sat in a corner by where the large cross. He hugged his legs to his chest with one arm and used his other arm to pet a bloody rat that Milo had used for his film.

Milo stared at Chris from afar and slowly began to walk up to him. He stared down at him, searching for the right words to say. But Chris managed to start off a conversation before he had the time to think up anything.

"Rats are quite the interesting creature, huh? Did you know they have a magnificent memory?" The teenager spoke, his dead eyes locked onto the rat.

Milo didn't know what to say, so he just shook his head.

Chris smiled slightly, glancing up at Milo. "Learned that in biology class."

"Why don't you ever come hang out with us?" Milo spat out. He didn't mean to ask that just yet. It just came out like word-vomit.

Chris's smile faded. He looked back down at the rat, both of his arms hugging his legs now. "I'm not like any of you..."

Milo rose a brow, confused. What did he mean by that? Surely they were like him. He killed his family just like them. He belonged to Bughuul. He made a kill film. He wasn't the only teenager now since him and Emma joined. So what did he mean?

"Chris...what are you--"

He looked out to the other ghost kids, cutting Milo off. "You guys all hated your family, right? Well I didn't. I mean, my dad was a dick. But my mom...my brother..." He moved his gaze down to the wooden floor. "I loved them. I never wanted them to die."

Milo looked down himself. He never really hated his entire family either. He hated the both of his parents, but he loved his sisters.

He sat down next to Chris, his legs crossed Indian-style. "I didn't hate my entire family either. I loved my sisters. Especially the oldest one, Sarah. She was the one who mainly cheered me up and gave me hope when mom and dad were being assholes. The other two would look up to me." He sighed softly. "Sometimes I wish I could bring them back. Have them be His children as well."

Chris turned his head to look at Milo. "Really? You really wish that?"

"Yeah...To tell you the truth, I didn't even realize how much I missed them. I didn't think I would. I thought that they'd just vanish from my memory. Like they never existed. But they didn't."

Chris nodded, understanding what Milo meant. "That's what I thought, too. Guess we were both wrong."

"Yeah..." Milo spoke softly, closing his eyes for a moment. The thought of his sisters actually made him feel...sad.

"Can I ask you something?" Chris asked, suddenly. Milo nodded. "Why did you come up to me?"

"To talk to you." He answered simply, shrugging slightly.

"But why?"

"Because you seemed interesting. I mean, wouldn't you kinda want to talk to someone that was always quiet and stayed in a corner by themself?"

Chris shrugged. "Maybe." He sighed quietly. "You know...you're not so bad, Milo." He spoke, glancing over at the other ghost.

Milo smirked slightly. "Thanks. You're not bad yourself."

"Milo!"

The two boys looked over towards the voice, spotting Ted waving over to Milo.

Milo looked at Chris and stood up, dusting himself off. "I'm going to go see what Ted wants."

"All right." Chris nodded, looking up at him.

"You should come with."

"Huh?" The eldest ghost blinked.

"Come on. It'll be fun. You'll see." Milo smiled, lending a hand down to Chris.

"I..." Chris sighed. "All right." He took Milo's hand and stood up with his help.

Milo smirked slightly and, to Chris's surprise, gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Let's go." He squeezed the boy's hand and began to walk them over to Ted.
