《Mianite: Unitended》Part 1-Unwritten

She hasn't told many people the story. I guess because it lead up to such a big catastrophe in her life. It wasn't fair. Then again much wasn't fair after that.
She was sleeping that night, in the priest house where she stayed even though she wanted to live by herself so much. She was only 8 and it still brakes my heart to know that.
There was what the mundane call it the strike of the unintended. Really isn't that creative when you think about it. She calls it the strike of hell. I thought it was funny that she swore that much at the time, not knowing her very well.
The stike of the unintended woke her up. She ran downstairs to see what was going on. Nights like these weren't to rare since Tucker and Tom had come to Mianite.
She got up and went downstairs. She looked on the counter to see a note from the priest.
Dear Hope, Tucker and Tom got upset again. The gods Are not happy this time. Stay inside and stay safe. Dinners also in the fridge
Yea right, she thought to herself.
Hope usually doesn't take no for a answer.
She went to the door and slipped her boots under her pajama pants. She grabbed her bow and arrows that were for practice only and headed outside.
She knew, by this time, Tom and Tucker very well. They wouldn't just stop fighting. They needed to be told to stop. The gods would not be enough.
She got outside. It was storming. The priest was right, the gods were mad. Red and blue lightning strikes came from Tucker's house, which only meant one thing. The gods were fighting.
"This is ridiculous", she said as she put her hand over her face to make sure her face didn't get drenched.
The priests house was inside a mountain sorta like hobbits behind some gates. The gate was opened by a lock in key and in emergencies a hand crank.
The problem was she didn't have the key and the crank was to heavy. I'll just have to climb I guess. She thought.
She put her rain boot in the first hole of the gate. That was the only one she could reach. She put her hands in the fourth row of holes. The rust between her fingers. She hoisted herself up. She put her right foot in the second row and so on and so fourth until she got to the top.

She stood on the cobblestone wall, hearing a loud lightning strike and some banging and crashing. She jumped off the cobblestone wall and ran to the cliff side that Tucker put his cabin on.
She looked to the right side of Tucker's staircase. The priest horse was laying there dead. I'm not sure if that's a bad sign or not.
She started to run up the walkway where sure enough Tucker and Tom were dangling from the top window fighting over Tucker's god sword.
"STOP PLEASE", Hope screamed. They didn't hear her.
She drew out her bow. Around them started to appear what the world calls the Wriders. They are long smoky figure, with a transparent body. The only way you can stop them is to hit the stone inside where their heart would be if they had one. The world of Mianite uses these as a source of power so there very expensive.
No no no, she thought to herself panicking, drawing out her bow and hit all three of them only missing once. There is no denial that hope is excellent with the bow.
She started running back up until she heard a clink to her right. Hope looked over, it was Tucker's god sword. Glimmering in the rain.
Both of the boys weren't saying anything, frozen. She didn't know why they wanted it so bad.
She picked it up and looked back at the boys. Tucker knocked Tom off of him and they both raced down stairs.
Hope started backwards and held the sword over the cliff edge. The boys stopped halfway down the stairs.
Tucker edged towards her,"Hope-"
"Don't move", she yelled at him.
She backed up a little more. "I'll drop it, you know I will!" The thunder got loader.
"Hope stop it, the gods Are getting mad",Tom reached to grab her.
She backed up mo, balancing herself on a tree branch. She dangled the sword over the river that was right below the cliff.
"Hope this is-"
Tom got cut off by a strike of lightning. It wasn't red or blue, it was purple.
Hope felt all of the hair on her arms stand up. She watched mianite and dianite fight. Screaming something in there ancient language at each other. I guess it was true to brothers could hate each other.
Tom pounced at her,"Give me the sword"
She backed up more dodging him, standing on the edge of the tree branch. Tucker pushed Tom into the side of the cliff.

He held out his hand. "Hope give me the sword".
She backed up more. The branch started to snap. She tried to balance herself. Her hand accidentally slipping of the end of the sword and dropping it into the raging river.
She looked down at the river terrified. With a scream she fell off the branch. It snapped In half landing into the river just like the sword.
Tom caught her hand. She tried to prop her feet on the side of the cliff. It was to muddy and her feet couldn't hold on to the stones that were barley holding on them self. Her breath thickening and the running pace that she keeping trying to climb up quickened as well.
"It's ok Hope I got you-"
A lightning strike hit Tucker's house basically moving the whole mountain. Tom got knocked over onto his back, Tucker not capable to move either, Hope fell into the raging river screaming.
I was taking a cab to my sister's house when the car crash happened. She wanted to talk to me about my life. She had a family and I had a stable job at the business office.
I wasn't doing fine and when I look back at the moment I realize what my sister was talking about. I miss her.
I was home when I got the note from her. I hadn't seen her since her wedding. Said that she checked in with mom and mom hadn't got any news from me either. She was also looking for money
I was always the successful one in the family. I decided to be a decent person for once and go check on Natalie.
I got into the cab and told him my sister's address. He started up the taxi hitting a pot hole as soon as he started to drive. The cab driver turned on the radio and skimmed through the channels, but all he was getting was static. I just rolled my eyes and ignored him. He got to a channel. I couldn't here what it was.
"There we go", he said.
He turned up the music to blasting country music. I hate country music.
He turned around and looked at me," You don't mind do you".
I nodded my head no even though I did mind a lot.
We started to get on the bridge and today the traffic was bad.
The cab driver cursed out. The connection to the country music was getting worse. We headed on the bridge. "Here I'll try to fix the music", he said.
He leaned over to the radio and was steering with one hand. I started to get worried when he barely dodged a guy in a minny van.
"Uh can you keep your eyes on the road please", I asked. He looked up at me like he was a mugger about to take my wallet. I sat back down in my seat.
He kept on swearing and trying to change the station not looking at the road.
Suddenly with jolt force, the cab went to a lurching stop. Hitting my back on the seat, then the car got pushed up again hitting my head off the drivers seat.
After that my vision got hazy. I do remember being thrown around in the cab and then suddenly it stopped and I felt like I was on a roller coaster. I was falling.
I couldn't believe what was happening. I was a new York boy. The only time this ever happened was In my video games. To my surprise the car fell smoothly on the water. The sinking is the awful part.
The water started bubbling through the car door from the back. I climbed up to the front. I shook the cab driver," Wake up!"
I checked his pulse. He was still breathing, but was knocked out cold.
I looked down, the water was to my knees quickly growing above the seat.
I looked over to the shattered window and realized I could easily get out from there. I looked back at the cab driver and felt bad to have to leave him.
I shook him again. He wasn't waking up.
I went over to the back seat and started kicking out the glass.
The water started pouring in more and got to my chin. I held my breath and went under. I tried to kick in the glass more but the last few shards wouldn't budge. The cab started to get hazy. I couldn't breath. My body wanted to gasp for air but I knew it was useless. My lungs started to hurt. I started to get drowsy, and I fell into a pitch black sleep.
But ironically the cab driver made it.

Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.
