"This is not going to be good" Cassandra said after a beat of silence .

Jasmine had disappeared with what seemed to be her twin sister to join the war and I had no doubt Chaos would be furious , if I had done that , I'm sure Kavos would have probably killed Darkness for letting it happen .

"Okay , so I've bought the lights . Watch how hot I look in- Please , please , please tell me Jasmine has gone to use the bathroom" Came the desperate tone of Darkness as he noticed Jasmine's absence .

The silence he was met with was defeating .

"She couldn't have escaped ! How the hell-"

"I think her sister took her , they've gone to fight in the war" Ebony replied wryly .

"Okay , well that's just great. Today's clearly my last day alive. I've spent my last day on this stupid Godforsaken planet babysitting ungrateful girlfriends!" Darkness yelled , running his hands through his hair in frustration .

"Hey! We didn't ask to come here !" Snapped Ebony , hand on her hips .

Darkness gave her dirty look before turning to me and saying " Chaos is basically your step father , I expect you to speak to him in my favour and let him know that it wasn't my fault . In fact , if he asks then the story is that I was in the room and then her sister came with backup and as I was heroically fighting them all off by myself , as all you three as useless humans , her sister snatched her before I could react . Got it ?"

"When in reality you were off getting better lights so we could see how hot you really were" Added Cassandra, with a quirk of an eyebrow .

"Now. Is. Not. The. Time. To . Fuss. Over. Small. Details" Darkness gritted out.

Him and Aztec were really more alike than I thought and I was so tempted to ask him why they didn't talk , they were basically the same person .

"I'll try to cover for you as much as I can , you're family" I said giving him a small smile .

"You two are related ?" Cassandra asked in confusion .

"No but he's Aztec's brother and Aztec is family to me so-"

"Don't mention that degenerate's name around me. Now follow me , I'll take you all down to the bunkers before someone else disappears" Darkness interrupted with a scowl.

"This stress is really getting to me and it can't be good for the baby" Murmured Cassandra as we followed Darkness.

"We're here for you , don't worry" I said , grabbing her hand worriedly .

I could imagine just how much this was all getting to her and I hoped to God it didn't induce her into an early labour .

Darkness came to a sudden halt as we got to the door , making all of us girls stumble as we tried to avoid falling into him .

"What's going on?" Ebony demanded .

"What's going on is that Darkness is completely inept at doing a simple task" Came a dark voice .

The dark voice was accompanied by a sudden icy atmosphere, the house suddenly got very chilly and the lights above rattled almost eerily.

Kavos.

Worried in case he flipped out and hurt Darkness, I let go of Cassandras hand and pushed to the front of them as if I could shield them from his wrath .

Kavos's violet eyes bore into mine , his eyes were flamboyant, dark, daring and dominate as they ensnared me into their trap while swirling with power. He was furious , his anger was electric as it crackled around him but instead of being scared, it almost comforted it me because I know he'd never hurt me .

"Kavos, it wasn't Darkness's fault" I said firmly , not breaking eye contact.

"This hasn't got anything to do with you , go into the next room" Came the frosty tone of my mate, daring me to defy him .

The old me would have done what he had said immediately but I was his mate and his equal , I wouldn't stand down for what I believed in and I most certainly wouldn't let him order me around . It was the year 3000 , if women couldn't be equal now then when could they ?

"No"

"This is why I don't like you hanging out with Aztec and the twins, you're far too disobedient" and with a snap of a finger , I was no longer in Darkness's hallway but in my own bedroom.

"Thank you for not hurting him" I said after a moment of silent .

"What do I care? Chaos will kill him anyway , now come with me" was his reply before walking out my room.

Sometimes I really couldn't believe Kavos. After the restaurant fiasco I had no doubt about what type of person he was and how easily he could kill but it still felt weird with how free and unconcerned he was with things like that . I had been taught what right and wrong were but it was almost as if Kavos had no moral compass .

"So what was the point of me even going to Darkness if I was only going to come back home anyway ?"

"I thought I could trust him to care for you and the others , I thought you'd be safe but evidently not so it looks like you're back being babysat by Aztec and the twins for extra protection . Although , they're not very happy about being pulled out the fight so good luck with that" Kavos smirked as we entered the basement .

"Damn right we're not ! Not that im surprised my stupid brother fucked up a simple job , how hard is it to make sure some half witch doesn't go missing ?" Grumbled Aztec with a pout .

"Don't call-" started Zara.

"- her that" finished Celina , elbowing Aztec in the ribs .

"Oh yeah I forgot she's like heir of your realm . Well , I said what I said and that's on period. I don't see what's so great about her anyway, I could take her in a fight" Smirked Aztec .

"And we could-"

"- Take you . So watch your-"

"Mouth" Hissed Zara.

"If it wasn't for the fact that Blue would never forgive me , I would kill all of you and especially you Aztec. Being around you makes me feel like I'm losing brain cells . Now , look after her or everyone will be getting tortured"

And then Kavos was gone .

"You'd honestly not think we've been best friends for thousands of years and the worst part is , this is him being nice to me" Complained Aztec .

"You provoke him sometimes , that's why" I giggled before looking around " Where's Thunder?"

The twins looked at each other and Aztec suddenly found his nails incredibly interesting .

"Where is Thunder?" I replied again , my tone firm.

"Your mate-"

"Swore us to secrecy" Celina confesses wryly .

"If he's touched her then I'll kill him myself ! I'll , I'll , err..."

"Chop off his fingers?" Suggested Celina.

"Yes!" I examined .

"Cut off his balls?" Added Zara .

"Yes!"

"Spank him with a paddle ?"

"What?" I asked , looking at Aztec in confusion .

"Aztec likes being spanked with one when he's been naughty" Smirked Celina.

"Aztec is very bad boy" Zara almost purred.

"Do you really ?" I asked in disbelief.

"I was spanked ONE time and I accidentally moaned , sue me! Zara likes getting her faced fuc-"

"Okay , I think that's enough story telling for now . Let's get some snacks" Zara nervously laughed .

After a few hours of the girls and Aztec trying to distract me , I started feeling incredibly restless and my mind was running a million miles per minute as I tried to figure out exactly what was going on . I had limited information about this war and nobody would dare to let slip anything vital to me in fear of Kavos and on top of that , I was worried about Thunder .

I was sure Kavos wouldn't have done something completely stupid like hurt her because I would never forgive him, I loved Thunder as if she was my own child. But that didn't mean he hadn't hid her somewhere cold and alone , I wanted her back and I wanted her back now . Which why I decided to have a snoop around his office .

His office was nice and like every other room in the house, it was spotless and very elegant with a simple black theme. It had a few fancy exotic looking ornaments but was relatively plain. I combed around and looked in his draws to try and find something interesting or some sort of information that I could stumble on and just as I had almost given up hope, I found a very old and tattered looking parchment.

We have managed to get the Fairies onside but the Vampires are siding with the Gods. Some Demons have also broken our alliance, they cannot side with us as long as Aztec is with you . They won't forgive him for his crimes. If you want them back , GET RID OF HIM .

I read the parchment over and over as I tried to make sense of it , what did Aztec do that was so bad and did they want Kavos to kill him ?

Despite how much Kavos acted like Aztec was a nuisance, I knew he loved him very dearly so I knew he would never but this piqued my curiosity even more .

" You shouldn't be in here Blue , Kavos wouldn't be impressed" Aztec said startling me as he came through the door .

"What did you do to the Demon realm ?" I blurted our , unable to hold it in.

For the first time ever , I saw Aztec look extremely serious , this wasn't the playful goof I was used to - this was the soul collector .

" I don't remember much from my upbringing, all I remember is me and darkness trying to fend for ourselves but we've been around for as long as the earth has existed .We are both powerful creatures but we're not exactly sure what we are but I noticed that more people I killed, the more powerful I became. I did something that is unforgivable, so unforgivable that I earned the name soul collector. The Demons were becoming incredibly powerful, too powerful, and I took a contact from someone very high up and hunted a particular groupf of demons down to extension and when my brother tried to stop me I almost killed him. Darkness then got the old gods involved and I was banished until Kavos found me and took me under his wings, it's not something I'm proud of and that's why the Demons will never side with me. Not many people do trust me because of , apart from the witches for some weird reason as apparently I'll be some type of important role" Aztec explained , his time remorseful and said .

His expression made my heart break , he looked fearful as if he thought I'd cast him aside due to his confession. I wasn't naive, I knew he must have done some awful things in life to be the right hand man of Kavos but it was still weird to hear him be so open about it . However , Aztec was family and family never judged family .

Which is exactly what I told him.

"Despite the fact that you're a dork with this weird obsession with cooking like some 1950's housewife and a 7 out of 10 in the right lighting , I really am glad I met you" Aztec confessed, squeezing my arm warmly .

"Uh, thanks ?" I replied back slowly .

"No problem, now let's join the girls" He smiled.

However, to our surprise it wasn't just the girls in the kitchen , they were joined with a girl who looked exactly like Jasmine but she had an aura about her that told me she wasn't . It must have been her twin sister . She had golden brown skin, Chestnut eyes, long curly dark brown hair with natural light brown streaks and was dressed head to toe in battle gear.

"This is Sapphire , future Queen of the witch realm , she has come baring a message from Kavos" Celina explained as we stepped in.

I turned to Aztec , expecting him to make some crude joke as Sapphire was incredibly good looking , but he just stood there as if he was in some state of shock and his eyes were turning an alarming shade of deep red; they were almost fully black .

"Is he okay ?" Sapphire asked worriedly as Aztec's fist began to clench .

"No!" Shouted Zara as I reached out to touch him but it was too late , as I touched him it was as if electric zapped through my body and I was sent flying back and into the wall which completely winded me .

"Get her out of here!" Yelled Celina thrusting her hands out and creating some sort of forcefield as Aztec let out an animalistic snarl and took a step towards me.

What was happening ?

Zara touched me and grabbed Sapphires hand and then quickly transported us to somewhere else that I didn't recognise.

"What happened to Aztec? I don't understand?!" I questioned.

It was like he was another person and the look in his eyes were almost murderous.

"His soul recognised Sapphire as his mate and as you're the only person who wasn't part witch , in his trace he found you as a threat to his mate" Zara explained looking around worriedly.

"Excuse me ?!" Shrieked Sapphire , her eyes wide and in disbelief .

"I can't explain right now, I need to help my sister . Take Blue and put her somewhere safe" Zara rushed out before teleporting away .

My mind tried to process exactly what Zara said , Sapphire was Aztec's mate ? He thought I was threat ? He was going to kill me ?

"This is just great , I'm mated to some absolute psychopath" Groaned Sapphire as she grabbed my hand and began pulling me out the room .

"He's not usually like that , I don't know what that was. As I'm not sure exactly what species he is , I can't tell you if that's even normal behaviour or not " I replied back to her .

"I know why he's called the Soul collector , I wasn't calling him a psychopath due to that little out burst and I can tell you for free , I have no desire to be with someone like that . You and Jasmine may be fine to shack up with murderous beasts but I'm not and I see how Chaos treats Jasmine . Like she's fragile and can't make a decision for herself , I won't have that life for myself. I don't care , I'll run away if I have to" Sapphire ground out , her voice disgusted .

"You have to give him a Chan-"

"I dont have to give him anything and I won't , I'd sooner kill myself than be mated to that beast!"

My heart broke at her words and I hoped to God she would change her mind because a rejection of mate was a death setenece .
