《Taming Cameron (COMPLETE)》Chapter 15

After being told that the family dinner was at seven in the evening, Cameron pulled on a royal blue, tight fitted dress and her most comfortable heels. Her hair fell down her shoulders in soft curls, framing her face which had little makeup, but enough to make her look more beautiful.
She opened the door to join the others downstairs, when she almost bumped into Nate. She allowed his eyes to roam over her and when it finally landed on her face, he smiled.
"You look great".
Cameron sighed, attempting to step past him, but he blocked her.
She huffed out a breath. "Excuse me".
Nate licked his lips then rubbed the back of his neck. "Look, Cameron, I'm really sorry for how I reacted earlier. It was immature of me, and I....", he trailed off with a sigh. "Please forgive me".
Cameron swallowed visibly, staring blankly at the carpeted floor. "It's fine. Excuse me", she said, pushing past him.
Nate grabbed her by the arms and pulled her to him, their bodies pressing against each other. Cameron gasped when their bodies met, faces mere inches apart. He smelled purely male. Their eyes met, each searching the other, while Nate's hand tightened slightly around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
He lowered his head with the intention of a kiss, his breath fanning against her face. A trail of goosebumps suddenly ran along the length of Cameron's body, causing her to shiver, but she quickly cleared her throat to distract him from what had happened.
"I er- I better go down", she said, staring now at his chest.
Nate huffed out a breath and smiled, releasing his hold on her. "Yeah sure. I'll be there in some time", he said.
Cameron gave a brief smile and stepped away from him. She sighed then left the room. Nate watched as she walked away, sighing heavily when she was out of sight.

Cameron descended the stairs, pausing when she saw Danny coming up. She wanted to climb back up to avoid him, but she thought not. She didn't want Danny to think she was somewhat afraid of him.
They met in the middle of the stairs, Danny using his hand to lean against the walls so she couldn't pass.
Cameron rolled her eyes. "What do you want?", she asked in frustration.
"I need to talk to you", he smiled.
Cameron folded her arms. "I don't want to talk to you".
"It's important", he cocked a brow.
"We can't just-"
"Meet me in the garden right after the dinner", he cut in, walking past Cameron.
Cameron groaned then smoothened her dress, putting on her best smile before she went to join the others.
-----
Everyone seated themselves around a huge table, with utensils set out and servings in the middle. The children were at smaller tables in another corner of the room. There was loud chattering and laughter, no one seeming to notice Cameron's presence. She sighed and seated herself in the middle.
"OK everyone. Take your seats, we are ready to start!", Marjorie announced.
The few that was standing, took their seats, the chattering still ongoing. Nate entered suddenly, a smile smearing his face when he spotted Cameron. He had changed into a sweater like shirt, rolled up to the elbows and a pair of black pants. He looked fresh and sexy, Cameron thought.
He moved towards her and sat in a chair beside her. No one spoke, but the tension was thick in the air.
Danny and Katelyn joined shortly after, Emily behind. The three got seated side by side, directly in front of Nate, and Cameron, who resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
She eased back in her chair, her appetite suddenly at bay.

Dinner was served, forks clinked against ceramic plates, while light chattering floated across the room. Most ate in silence, relishing good food while Cameron's plate was untouched, which Marj noticed.

"Cameron honey, you haven't lifted your fork once. Are you OK?", she queried.
Cameron smiled reassuringly. "I'm fine. I guess I lost my appetite", she said glancing momentarily at Emily.
Marj nodded and winked. "I see", she said, dropping the subject.
Emily cleared her throat, wanting to make herself known, but no one managed to even take a glimpse at her.
Cameron almost jumped from the chair when she felt warm hands on her leg. Her eyes widened as she shot Nate a deadly glare. He leaned towards her, his lips inches from her ear.
"People are starting to see that there's a problem between us", he whispered. "So why don't you give me a smile every now and again", he exclaimed huskily.
Cameron turned and smiled then lowered her own head to his, her hand on the side of his neck. "Is this doing the job", she whispered as her other free hand trailed along the length of his leg. Nate was silent as her hands went further up, pausing right at his crotch.
His body suddenly became heated, the touch sending bolts if fire through his body.
He smiled, whispering, "You're good".
Cameron smiled.
"Hey, you two, get a room or something", one man exclaimed jokingly from across the table.
They both pulled apart, Nate clearing his throat while Cameron gave a one-sided smile. She glared ahead, noting the glares Emily and Danny shot her.
They continued with dinner, Cameron excusing herself minutes before so she could quickly meet Danny for whatever the reason might be. She knew the person Nate was, so instead of telling him she was going to the garden, because he might've asked to join, she told him she was going to the bathroom instead.
Luckily no one was outside so she felt more comfortable. The night was cold and a bit foggy, so she hugged her shoulders and carefully walked to the garden. She waited for a minute, allowing Danny to excuse himself and come join her. She wasn't going to wait for long so he'd better be quick. She seated herself on a small bench and inhaled a deep breath.
"Sorry I took so long", a voice came.
Cameron turned to see Danny moving towards her.
"Can you hurry and get this over with? What do you want?", she asked frustratingly.
"Hey hey chill. I won't be long", he sat beside her.
Cameron shifted uncomfortably. "Talk".
Danny laughed. "I see you don't waste any time. But my reason for asking you here is quite simple".
Cameron cocked a questionable brow, as a sign for him to continue.
"I want you back", he concluded firmly.
Cameron snorted, immediately rising from the chair, deciding to leave.
"Cameron wait!", he called.
She turned and glared at her. "I don't have time for this bull-"
"Just hear me out please", his voice became soft.
Cameron sighed.
Danny rose from his chair and moved towards her.
"Look seeing you here just bought back the memories of what we had, and-"
"Yes Danny. Had, past tense", she pointed out drily. "And don't think I forget what you said to me just days ago", she exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I was just...", he trailed off licking his lips.
"You're with Katelyn now and I'm with Nate. What we had is over... Was over a very long time ago".
His mouth crushed hers suddenly, taking Cameron by surprise. She squirmed, trying to push him away but his hold on her was so tight, her small strength didn't stand a chance.
"What's going on here?", a voice demanded in hysteria.
Danny literally jumped away from Cameron.
Cameron sighed, staring at Katelyn who stood there wide-eyed with disbelief.
