Once Martina graduated from high school she attended Perdue University where she majored in Criminal Law.
Over the course of her career, she became a well-known, very successful lawyer specializing in the prosecution of those who committed sex crimes involving minors.
In her first six years as a lawyer, she put 18 child sex offenders behind bars, 6 of those being minors themselves, just like Barry.
Four months after her 32nd birthday, Martina was appointed to the position of State District Attorney where, two years later with the help of the FBI, she successfully prosecuted the men and women involved in the largest child sex trafficking ring ever ran in the U.S. to date, resulting in the rescue of 37 kidnapped children, ranging in age from six to sixteen.
Nine months later, on her 35th birthday, Martina walked down the aisle and became the wife of the man who had led the FBI's investigation of that trafficking ring.
Martina's husband went on to form a new child sex trafficking task force in the FBI.
Martina eventually became the task force's special prosecutor and together they put hundreds of sex offenders behind bars and rescued more than a thousand kidnapped children, over the course of their careers.
Martina and her husband raised two adopted baby girls. Both of them following in their mother's footsteps to became lawyers specializing in child sex crimes.
Their older daughter ended up a national daytime talk show host, and was instrumental in helping increase public awareness of child sex crimes and spurred several campaigns, resulting in the laws in a dozen states being changed to increase the punishment for perpetrators of sex crimes against minors.
Their younger daughter eventually filled the same position in the FBI her mom had once held.
And that's how a street festival turned a wallflower into a hero.

Checkpoint
as an anomaly sweeps the world, many gain strange abilities. as for Mal, the power makes it so they cannot die, or more accurately, they get sent back in time to the last place they were safe at. A power that seems like a blessing until you’re crushed under rubble, drowned in sewage, shot, stabbed, all while having the royalties to feel all the pain from such fates. And to put the icing on the cake, a strange message appeared before everyone’s eyes stating that unless someone breaks down the gate within 17 years, everyone will die”. now Mal needs to find a way to “break down the gate” (whatever the hell that means) or they will be forced to die and revive, only to die again for the rest of time. Which would suck, probably. /————————————————— this is technically a time loop novel. the MC is chaotic neutral with a worryingly lack of care about how their actions affect people. i want to interact with my readers so give critique and suggestions. I will sometimes host polls for the personality for new characters, story decisions, and the ability to cancel annoying characters, besides Mal, if they get enough complaints. I am also impatient and will end decision polls when I want to write more. If no one votes, I choose, so don’t let that happen. if you’re want world building check out hitchhikers guide to checkpoint (an encyclopedia of what I made up with lots more explanation)
