《My Brothers Best Friend》Chapter 11 // Fast and Furious

Carter's POV:
"You just missed him honey", she spoke sweetly, unaware of my cruel intentions. I placed my hands in my pockets trying to hide the fact that my fists were turning white from me clenching them. "Do you know where he might be?" I asked kindly masking my anger. She looked at me for a second before her face resumed its ear to ear grin, "actually I believe he said he was going to the Walters". At this I felt my heart physically stop. Without a thank you or goodbye I sprinted towards my car and within 5 seconds I had the key in the ignition and was racing down the street towards the Walters home - Annabelle's home.
I took as many shortcuts as I could remember and felt my hands tightening around the wheel. I turned around the corner to get stuck at a set of lights. I smacked the wheel for the second time, frustrated that anything could be happening and I was sitting here. As soon as the cars began to move I was moving as fast as I could without crashing. I hadn't showered yet, brushed my teeth yet or changed my clothes but I had other things on my mind. In that moment I felt angry at Danny also, it was his sister so why was I having to protect her. If anything had happened to her I would feel personally responsible. I let out a growl as I realised I shouldn't have left her alone.
I felt like the world was slowing down and everything was stopping me from reaching her. How had I got to this stage? I thought to myself, how had I become so involved? I was still unsure of what I felt for Annabelle, I had only ever loved her as a sister even a best friend and i'm sure it wasn't anything other than that. Lately I had felt so protective which reminded me of a sister but so happy which reminded me of a friend. She was in between, what were people in between? I felt so confused that I almost didn't see the lights ahead of me and had to brake heavily.

I pulled up the road and left my car in the middle of the road, for all I knew there was no time to waste. I ran to the front door and lifted up the only flower pot by the door. It stood on a brown piece of paving which hid he front door key underneath. Many times Danny and I had snuck in and out of the house using this key. Thinking about it now, being that it was the only flower pot near the house it looked suspicious but I didn't have time to think about it too much. I turned the key quickly and ran up the stairs two by two. I reached her door and just before I was about to go in I heard Annabelle's quiet voice speak out, "Rhydian" and I burst in. She was wrapped in his arms with a look of shock and without a single thought I ripped them apart and punched Rhydian straight in the stomach.
He fell backwards into her desk knocking over a few items but at this point I didn't care. I'd have preferred her items as collateral damage then her. Annabelle grabbed my arm but I flung her onto the bed and headed over towards Rhydian again. "Don't...you...touch...her", with each word I flung my leg into his stomach with a groan response from him each time. I heard Annabelle shriek but I didn't stop, as I brought my leg to him once again he grabbed my leg pulling me down with him. I shot an elbow into his face and watched his face almost instantly light up a bruised colour. His tongue rolled up to his bruised cheek as he brought a fist down on my face. He hit me hard on the side smacking my head against the desk leg and then I heard footsteps come from next to us. "Stop!" the voice shouted sadly but we didn't stop.

Rhydian spun my body around and wrapped his arm around my neck but I wasn't going to lose to this prick. I sent my elbow into his guts many times and as I felt his grip loosen I stood with him attached and threw us at the wall. His body being behind mine cushioned the blow and the grunt that came from him showed me at that moment that he was winded. He tried to throw a punch but his reflexes were now slow and I had been waiting for this moment. I threw him to the floor near the bed and began punching him repeatedly. I was punching anywhere I could see and Rhydian was slowly and surely losing; then I felt an arm try with all its might to pull me back. I shot a look at Annabelle and saw the fear in her eyes. For a moment I just looked at her and then my body flew sideways. Rhydian had regained his strength and had landed a blow on the side of my head. I stood up ready to make my next move as she got in the way with tears now spilling down her cheeks as she screamed, "Enough!".
