《Actions Speak Louder Than Fortune Cookies》18 - The Last Mission

Sebastian was surprised to see almost all the major MCU cast and crew when he arrived. He knew of a bunch coming but not almost everyone. He joined the clamor of the room, greeting everyone he walked by. It was so absurd to see so many people in one place. The last time this happened they had been filming the final scenes for End Game. After half an hour or so of mingling, everyone found their spots with their name cards at the tables, all laid out into a giant square, with all the seats facing into the middle so everyone could see each other.

A camera was set up in each corner of the room, recording for later, so all the people in the room slowly introduced themselves and their character, each person earning applause afterwards. Sebastian was sat next to Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell. He always loved hanging out with Hayley. She was hilarious and always played constant pranks on Chris during filming. He made small talk with Hayley when he first sat down, chatting about what's been going on in their lives since they haven't seen each other in a while.

Kevin stood up after everyone was introduced and said "Alright everyone, this is our first table read of "Captain America: The Last Mission." Everyone clapped, hooted, and hollered. This movie is supposed to be following Captain America as he returns the infinity stones. Sebastian had been surprised when his agent told him about this script coming to him in the mail. He was especially surprised with how much of the script he was actually in. They had heard whisperings that this might actually be made into a movie but now it was really happening and the idea sounded amazing.

Over the next four or so hours, the entire MCU team worked together to read through the script to get an idea of what was to come. It was around 8:00 when Chris said the last line of dialogue in a curious, relieved tone, "Peggy?" And the script came to a close. Everyone clapped once again, many wiping away stray tears, Marvel achieving yet another feat of greatness.

Kevin stood up again to talk with everyone in the room, beginning to cover details about the shooting schedules that would start the next day.

After he dismissed them all, most of the room stayed and continued to mingle. Word also quickly went around that the crew rented out a bar across the street where there would be dinner and an after party. The boisterous crowd slowly died down as everyone made their way across the street to meet right back up again at the bar.

Sebastian wanted to keep Rylee updated so she didn't worry, since he had said he would let her know where the night ends up. He took out his phone and saw he had a missed message.

Hey handsome

Hope you're having a good time ☺️

Hey beautiful

We just got done with our read, It went really well!

There's an after party at O'Henry's if you'd want to come join

Aw I would've loved to but I got suckered into a partial shift at work

I'm stuck here till midnight.

But have fun!

Aw that's a bummer

Chris says hi by the way

Did you tell them we're together yet?

No not yet

I was afraid Mackie would stand on a table and shout from the rooftops

I'll probably tell them after the nights over

Haha yeah we don't need all of the city knowing yet huh

Well have fun and drink one for me. 🍺

Will do

Have a good night

Sebastian put his phone back into his back pocket, but not before Chris swooped in, leaning on the bar next to him asking how Rylee was.

"She's good." Sebastian nodded at the bartender in thanks as he handed him his whiskey.

"Mhmmm. Andddd?"

"Andddd?"

"When were you going to tell me, your dearest, closest, most beloved friend, that you're dating?"

"I....what?" Sebastian almost choked on his drink," How'd you know that?"

"Hayley of all people told me on accident. She said you had mentioned you were dating someone after she had asked if your status had changed lately since you hadn't seen each other in a while. Listen...I'm not mad...I'm just disappointed. Why didn't you tell me?" Chris teased.

"Okay, well shit I was gonna tell you guys later today." He raked his fingers nervously through his short hair. "I was just afraid of what Mackie would do in front of all these people. We're still trying to keep this on the down low for a bit...we literally just started dating this morning." He chugged the rest of his drink on accident.

Reality set in for how bad he may have just fucked up. Rylee and him hadn't even talked about what they wanted to do yet publicly...He didn't think Hayley would have any reason to bring it up to anyone, so that's why he told her. He didn't even use her name. He needed to find her and tell her not-

"Dude chill." Chris said, putting his hand on Sebastian's shoulder, "I mentioned to her that she should keep it under wraps. She didn't know it wasn't common knowledge. Your secrets safe."

Sebastian let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding.

"Okay....alright." Sebastian put up two of his fingers to flag the bartender back down for a refill.

"Congrats though man. I'm guessing Alexa doesn't know, or I probably would've heard about it already," he laughed.

"Nah, I think she's telling her soon though." The bartender refilled both his and Chris drinks while they were there. They both tapped their glasses together and then drank.

--------------------

It was a little after midnight and Rylee was just leaving work. She had lived here for half a decade but New York still surprised her. If you walked out of a bar in any other city on a Tuesday at midnight, the streets would overall be pretty dead. But not here. Here the street was still as bustling as ever. People coming and going. Some in suits, some in short skirts and crop tops. She had seen it all.

She decided tonight that instead of heading straight home, she would take a quick walk down to Brighton Beach. She always loved the area because it was very well lit and was a good bit safer to take a late night stroll down there than anywhere else she'd gone. She walked down toward Coney Island and back, when her phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket and saw Sebastian's face filling up the screen.

would like to FaceTime...

(Decline) (Accept)

Rylee smiled to herself as she hit accept, fiddling with her hair quickly before the call connected.

"Hey you!" Sebastian said a bit loudly, face rather close to the screen.

"Hi there. Watcha up to?" Rylee asked. She noticed in the background that he was still at the bar. She could also barely hear him over the rambling of the crowd around him.

"Still at O'Henry's. Missin you. And so is Chris. Say hiiiiii chris!" Sebastian said quickly and quite slurred together. He turned the phone abruptly in Chris' direction, "Ayyy Rylayyyy. Listen, listen listen." Chris plucked the phone from Sebastians grasp and walked away with it, "You need to meet the others. They're. They're great. By the way. Congratulations! Oh sorry." He then started loudly whispering, "Lil Sebberdoo told me you two are together! That's so great. But it's still a secret so shush." Chris put a finger in front of his lips as Sebastian took his phone back.

"So that's what you missed tonight..where are you by the way," Sebastian seemed to lean closer to his phone trying to figure out the dimly lit area she was walking.

"I'm down on the beach. About to head to the subway..but now I'm trying to decide where I should be stopping. At home, or O'Henrys to drive you home." She laughed.

"Come here! You can meet everyone and it will be a good time! Everyone here is so used to DNAs...they won't tell people we're dating...pretty please? I'd love for you to meet Hayley," he gasped loudly looking away from his phone, "Where's Hayley...she needs to meet Rylee."

Rylee laughed, "I think you mean NDAs. And sure why not. I just got to the terminal. I'll be there in like 15-20 minutes, okay?"

"YES. Rylee Summers you're the best. Chrissss Rylee is comi-!"

Sebastian accidentally disconnected the call but Rylee just laughed about it. She knew his job could be stressful and she was happy to see that he's still able to have a good time.

She got onto her usual train and skipped her stop, riding for a few extra minutes until she reached her new destination.

As she hopped off the train she remembered what she was wearing and a blush grew across her cheeks. She was wearing her black Ruby's tank top, green lace push up bra poking out underneath and jean shorts with her Converse. She was mainly caught up on her bra situation. It's not what she would normally wear on a night out and she didn't want this big room of people to judge her and her job. She tried pulling her tank top up, but it always slid right back down. It must've retained a memory overtime of being worn in the same fashion every other night. She raked her fingers through her hair, trying not to stress about it as she walked up to O'Henry's.

There was a rather intimidating security guard standing at the door of the bar. She guessed he had to be a minimum of 6'4", arms covered in tattoos from shoulder to wrist. If he was supposed to look scary, it worked.

"Name?" He asked sternly, holding a clipboard holding a few pages of names of those permitted to enter. Rylee really hoped Sebastian remember to tell this guy she was coming. She didn't want to deal with getting kicked to the curb over a misunderstanding.

"Rylee...Rylee Summers..." she gulped, picking at her nails as she waited for him to flip through his list. He flipped through it twice before breaking out a highlighter and crossing off her name. He then pulled out another paper from the back of his board and handed it to her. "Sign please."

She took the paper from him and he held a small flashlight overtop of it for her to see, shining the light over the page. She began to read it, but he quickly chimed in saying "It's an NDA. Any discussion of future productions in this building do not leave this building." Rylee's mouth formed an oh shape as she scratched her name at the bottom of the page. He took it back and stuck it into a folder behind his clipboard. He gave her a quick pat down and then opened the door for her and without looking at her, keeping his eyes on the busy sidewalks said "have a good night."

She thanked him with a nod and went through the door. She finally took a breath and relaxed, but not for more than a second as she remembered her attire when she saw everyone else's. Most of the women were wearing beautiful, fashionable tops, expensive pants and jeans and high heels. The men were also wearing the male equivalent. She felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb, feeling embarrassed. As she looked around the sea of unknown faces, she caught sight of Chris standing by the bar, patiently waiting for the bartender. He was wearing gray chinos, and a tight red Henley with the sleeves pushed to his elbows.

He was turning to take in everything around him and his eye caught Rylee's and to her great relief he waved her over. When she got within arms length he pulled her into a big bear hug. "How are you Ry! I'm so glad you made it!"

"I'm good! And I'm glad I made it too, though the security outside was a bit intense." She spoke over his shoulder as he hadn't let go yet.

"Oh, Hank, pfffffft. He's a big ol teddy bear at heart. Sweet as can be." Chris replied letting her out of his grip. "Can I get ya a drink?" She was surprised how much his voice oozed his Boston accent when he was comfortable.

"Uh sure, rum and Coke?"

"Yes ma'am!" He waved the bartender back over and requested her drink along with his Sam Adams. He came back quickly with both and Chris raised his in thanks to the bartender as he turned around and handed Rylee her drink.

"Now let's go find your man!" Rylee laughed as Chris grabbed her hand and slowly drug her throw the crowd. As they went some people stared. She guessed because she was a new face but she couldn't be sure. Sooner than expected she heard Chris go "Ah ha!" and there he was, looking as hot as ever. Sebastian was still wearing the green button down and dark slacks he wore earlier when they were together. But now his sleeves were unbuttoned and pushed up to his elbows. Man, he was fine.

As they got closer she was surprised to see him talking to someone...a beautiful, petite brunette. She was wearing nude heels, black slacks, and a long sleeved ruffled pink shirt with a rounded collar. She laughed enthusiastically at whatever he had said and placed her hand on his arm. His smile lighting up the room.

No. You're not about to get jealous over your boyfriend of like 12 hours Rylee. She had to be a coworker...either way..he's allowed to have girl friends....plus...she looked familiar...why...

Chris closed the distance and clapped his hand on Sebastian's shoulder, causing him to turn from his current conversation.

"Look who I found!" Chris laughed.

Sebastian's face lit up even brighter than she had just seen when he found her behind Chris. He stuck out his hand for her and she took it with ease, coming to stand beside him. He gave her a quick kiss when she got close enough and put his arm around her waist.

"Hayley, this is Rylee Summers, my girlfriend; Ryles this is Hayley Atwell."

"I knew you looked familiar...I just watched Captain America for the first time this afternoon. You're great!" Rylee stated, quickly feeling embarrassed.

"Well thank you!" She humorously tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Sebastian's been talking about you all night."

"Oh has he now?" Rylee giggled, curling into his side.

"Maybe once or twice...but hey, let me introduce you to everyone!" Sebastian stated enthusiastically grabbing her hand and cutting through the crowd.

"It was nice to meet you Hayley!" Rylee laughed loudly as she let Sebastian drag her away.

Rylee stopped him for a moment by placing another hand on his. "Hey..."

"Whats up babe?" He stopped and turned to look at her. The word sent a shiver down her spine in the best way possible. She loved hearing that fall from his lips. She almost begged him to say it again.

"Do you have a jacket or something I could borrow? I'm not sure I want to meet a bunch of people wearing this." She slowly pointed to her attire.

"Hmm, well I personally love it," he said as his eyes combed up and down her frame, hovering at her pushed up breasts, soaking her in, "but I understand. My bags over here..hang on." He took a few steps towards the front door and found his backpack there, pulling out his plain black hoodie, handing it to her.

She slid it on, thanking him with a smile. She was drowning in it but she was much more comfortable now than before with everything hanging out.

"How are you still so gorgeous even when your drowning in my clothes." Sebastian said as he wrapped his arms around Rylee, kissing her deeply. She melted into him and kissed him back just as deeply, blushing at the compliment.

"Now. Let's go meet a million people!" Sebastian said as he continued pulling her through the crowd.
