A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Even with the creature gone, (f/n) didn't open the door. She would wait. For all she knew, the creature could actually be standing completely still and nearby, and she wouldn't walk into another trap. Or, she would try to avoid doing so.

She adjusted her flashlight back to the lowest setting and started to look around the room. It was empty, save for the single wooden chair in the far left corner. That was unsettling, and she hoped that the place wasn't haunted, but it wouldn't surprise her if it was. (F/n) backed away from the chair some, but she kept her light on it.

There didn't seem to be any blood stains on it. It was only a simple chair. She heard tiny feet skitter across the floor, and she screamed. Swiftly, she threw her free hand over her mouth. The flashlight moved violently around the room, and it caught sight of a mouse scurrying away. (F/n) watched it disappear into a tiny mouse hole.

Not too much more time could be spent in the room. Having seen Laura like that and running from the creature immediately after put her on edge, and the lack of space was suffocating. Her thoughts were closing in on her too much. The fear of the chair somehow moving towards her filled her mind too. That thought might be ridiculous, but she couldn't help it. Her hands were beginning to shake again, and images of Laura's dead body kept flashing before her eyes.

(F/n) looked to the door and walked towards it. Hesitantly, she unlocked it. She opened it even slower before she peered out into the hall. Her light showed that the creature wasn't there. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, and she ventured into the hall after she shut the door behind her.

Making a turn, she began to head back towards the center. She didn't know if the path would lead her to dead end, but she wasn't going to try and catch up with Nick and Tara the other way. That would take too long, but she did have some time. The creature selected Brent, not her. It was a terrible thought to have, but her life was her priority, and Brent had just bought her some much needed time.

Being alone in the tunnels, though, was unnerving. Her mind would imagine the creature or something like a ghost popping out anywhere. When she searched rooms, she checked all angles before she entered them. That one encounter taught her to not blindly walk in. In none of the rooms did she find anything useful, however, and she was realizing that she probably should've taken some water from the kitchen.

Her throat was parched, and her stomach growled occasionally. She was also incredibly tired. When she saw a bed even one with a dirty mattress, she just wished to lie upon it and sleep. If she did give into that desire, she might never wake up. Hopefully, the creature had stored away some food that hadn't expired. At least, she could restore some of her energy that way.

Turning left, she paused in her steps. She could see the right turn up ahead, but before that, there were boxes stacked high to the left of her. Carefully, she removed one from the top. It felt empty. When she shook it, nothing moved inside. (F/n) placed it on the ground and steadily pulled back the flaps. There was nothing.

Carrying on, she performed the same with all of the other boxes. Occasionally, she would find a singular item in one. None of these items would do her any good, though, and some she avoided touching altogether. When she searched the last box, she almost thought that she was dreaming. Inside, there was an unopened bag of trail mix.

Snatching it, she inspected the packet to make sure that it hadn't been tampered with. There were a few blood spots on the outside, but it had never been opened, and there wasn't anything suspicious inside. Her fingers pulled apart the top, and she dug in. (F/n) kept walking since she didn't wish for the creature to catch up to her. The food tasted a little old, but she was hungry; she was just happy that it wasn't rotten.

Halfway through the packet, she rubbed her throat. The saltiness of the peanuts and almonds made her incredibly thirsty. She hadn't come across another bathroom, and she didn't know if she wanted to drink water from a bathroom sink. For the moment, her saliva would have to do. If she made it out alive, a warm shower sounded nice, and she would have her own personal feast.

After she checked another room, she finished her meal and stuffed the wrapper in one of her pockets. To her possible joy, she heard footsteps in the distance. They weren't soft like the creature's. Hope filled her. She quickened her pace and took another few turns. Her (e/c) eyes spotted Nick and Tara. They were talking to someone else, and she recognized the voice. Brent was soon in her field of vision.

How had he made it to them before her? There must've been a path that cut to the center quicker, but she couldn't remember seeing anything like that on the map. Perhaps, he had found one of the creature's modifications. About to step towards them, she stopped.

Directly in front of her, a door opened. Instantly, she covered her flashlight and pressed herself against the wall. She hid behind the door as soft footfalls sounded on the other side. Her heart beat wildly in her chest, and she tried to calm down. The creature could probably hear her.

Beams of light shone her way, but the door continued to block her from sight. The three all cursed in their own fashion before she heard them run off. Chuckles hit her ears as the door shut. She held in her breath and remained completely still. Before the door even shut the whole way, she heard, "I know that you're there." Giggling followed.

Every part of her mind attempted to convince her that the creature's voice was her imagination. He didn't know her location, and he would go onto the others. The door closed all the way, and he faced towards the direction of the others. His nails tapped against his chin. Steadily, he glanced back and down towards her. She stepped back some, prepared to dash off.

Noting the empty packet sticking out of her left, outer jacket pocket, he smirked. He took quick steps towards her, and she backed up swiftly. In the process, her left foot moved back too fast and tripped her. She fell back but managed to support herself up with her hands. A groan of pain left her while the creature looked on amused. The creature crouched in front of her. "You should've taken a bigger bite; you wouldn't have needed that."

His left fingers came at her quickly. Her arms flew up to her face while she curled herself up into the ball. A scream parted from her, but she didn't feel anything. Confused, she lowered her arms and saw that he was standing again. He had the trail mix wrapper. The creature examined it before he dragged his tongue across the spots of blood.

Disgusted and freaked out, she got back to her feet and increased the distance between them. His gaze didn't turn to her; he looked to be considering something. Using that to her advantage, she walked around him and made sure to avoid that left hand of his.

"Ah!" The creature's voice caused her to jump slightly. She peered up at him. "This was from that man I killed back in the summer. He was rather tasty, but ..." He locked his gaze onto her. A grin spread across his lips. "I wonder how you'll compare." Not watching his movement anymore, she bolted. Giggling erupted throughout the space, but she didn't look behind her. Even if Brent was with the others, she needed to catch up to them.

Throat crying for water, it begged her to slow down. She couldn't; she didn't know if the creature was following her. Since she was headed in the same direction as Brent, he probably was. Her ears caught onto the soft footfalls. Ahead, there were two paths. Which one had they taken? There was no time to pause and decide. (F/n) went left.

Footsteps followed behind her, and they were faster. Terror latched onto her tightly. Part of her wished to throw herself to the ground, hoping that the creature would run past. A hand grasped her left wrist and tugged her back. The force sent her flying back, and she skidded across the floor as she was released. Little chips of stone and dirt cut into her skin. Her whole body ached when she stopped.

Soft footsteps walked towards her. She looked up and saw the creature looking down at her. He reached down and lifted her up. (F/n) wrapped her hands around his fingers, trying to get him to let go. Her legs kicked, but they didn't hit him. Before she could do anything else, he slammed her against the nearby wall. In an instant, darkness consumed her.

More giggles came from the creature as her body hung limp in his arms. He tossed her over his right shoulder and walked down the left path. Far off, he could just hear the steps of the other three. They were getting closer, and he couldn't help but grin. His eyes looked to the girl, and he had to pause for a moment. Her scent was lovely.

Skimming his nose over her left cheek, he breathed her in. His mouth watered a little. When his nose got to her dried lips, however, he pulled back in repulsion. The scent of chocolate and peanuts coated them; her natural scent was barely there. A smirk tugged at his lips. That could be changed.
