《postponing forever》chapter 22

Finn rushed down the hallway of his apartment complex praying that Rachel would be at home. He felt as though he had hardly seen her over the past month, she had been so busy with school and in between his work schedule and his own classes they had barely had any time together.

He needed to talk to her, worse yet he needed to see her. He had done something very stupid and he knew he needed to tell her, and he would if he could find five minutes when they were in the same room at the same time.

There was a party tonight over at the Alpha house and he planned on convincing her to go with him. They needed a night out together desperately and the party served as a fun night out.

He rushed into the apartment making his way from room to room looking for her until he found her packing a bag with books in her bedroom.

“Your home” He smiled.

“Not for long” she replied looking up from her bag to him.

Finn's smile quickly fell. “It’s Friday night where could you possibly be going?” he asked her.

“I have a study group for Biology” she explained.

Finn walked into the room and sunk down on her bed with a sigh “Again?” he asked.

She had been attending some type of extra classes or study groups a couple of times a week for the past month now.

“Yeah, well I’ve got some big exams coming up over the next three months” she replied.

Taking hold of her hand Finn pulled her down next to him. He felt like a stranger to her lately she was so closed off all of her focus on school, he couldn’t work out the last time she had even initiated any physical contact with him.

“I need to talk to you, I need to spend some time with you” he told her.

Rachel smiled; he looked so pathetic when he whined. They had both been busy lately and she felt bad that she was continually putting him off but school was important.

“Lets have breakfast tomorrow,” she suggested causing Finn to frown.

Breakfast he thought bitterly, that was the only time he saw her anymore, over a piece of toast and an O.J.

“There’s a party on tonight at the alpha house, blow off you study group and come with me,” he suggested.

“Finn” she sighed, “You know I cant do that,” she told him.

“Why not?” Finn cried out in frustration.

“Because I have to study” she defended “This is important, Finn” she said.

“And spending some time with your best friend who you haven’t spent time with in a month isn’t?” he asked angrily.

Rachel was a little shocked at how angry Finn had gotten normally he was so understanding.

“Your right, I’m sorry but I cant tonight. How about tomorrow night?” she suggested.

“I work Saturdays at the bar, Rachel” he told her.

Of course Rachel cursed at forgetting that. “What about Sunday?” she said.

“Working” he answered.

“Oh” she sighed her eyes drifting to the clock. She needed to leave soon or she would be late.

“It’s one night, Rachel please,” he begged “I miss you and I just need to be with you” he told her desperately. “We don’t even have to go to the party we can just stay here talk and eat ice cream” he suggested.

Finn watched the war on Rachel's face and knew she was beginning to cave.

Sighing, “Okay how does this sound. I go to my study group now and promise to be back by 8.30 and then rest of the night is yours” she said.

“Yes” Finn cried out he was willing to take whatever she would give him at the moment. He had to talk to her desperately and they needed this time together badly.

Leaning in Rachel gave him a quick kiss on the lips “I’ll meet you back here at 8.30” she promised.

“I’ll be waiting” he smiled.

He watched her leave and once she was gone he went and grabbed a shower and got himself a snack surprised that there was even food in the fridge since they hadn’t even managed to find an hour to go grocery shopping together in a month.

He knew he being a little unfair to Rachel, it wasn’t just her that was busy but he was trying to find time to be with her and she just didn’t seem to care.

He had dated a girl named Serena a few times over the past month but had found out that she was one of the girls in Rachel's lab so had decided to not call her again. Apparently she didn’t take no for an answer though and had been calling him non-stop for four days now.

She was a nice girl, or what he knew of her anyway. She seemed fun, maybe a little pushy but when he had found out who she was and how much Rachel hated her he knew he wouldn’t see her again. Now he just had to come clean with Rachel.

Before Finn knew it. it is was 8.45 and there was still not sign of Rachel. He turned on the TV and tried to find something to watch while watching the door every five minutes. By 9.30 he realised she wasn’t coming and he was pissed. It was the first Friday night he had off in 3 months and he had wanted to spend it with her but apparently she didn’t feel the same way. Grabbing a jacket he stormed out of the apartment on his way to the alpha party where he hoped a few beers would drown his sorrow.

A half an hour later Rachel unlocked the apartment and ran in. “I’m so sorry, Finn” she called out. She had totally lost track of time and when she realised that she was already late the study group moved on to one of the topics she had been having trouble with and she couldn’t leave then.

Silence was the only thing that welcomed her.

“Finn” she called out again as she searched the apartment but she found it empty. Walking into the kitchen she went to the fridge expecting to find a note, there was nothing. She waited to midnight for him to return but when he still hadn’t come home she knew that he must have gone to the party and allowed sleep to overtake her.

At the party Finn had just downed his sixth beer when he started to feel a little drunk. He was still pissed as hell at Rachel for standing him up but he knew getting drunk wasn’t going to help.

He took a seat down and closed his eyes and when he opened them he thought he saw Rachel in front of him but when he shook his head he realised it wasn’t Rachel at all, of course not he thought bitterly that would mean that she would have to leave her study group to come here.

“Hi” Serena grinned at him before taking a seat next to him.

“Hi” She said back.

“I’ve been looking for you everywhere” she told him.

“Yeah? How come?” he asked?

“I wanted to see you, is that ok?” she replied.

“I can’t see you anymore, Serena,” he told her.

Shifting closer to him “Why not?” she asked.

“Because” he shrugged.

He let her trail a hand over his jean covered thigh “Well you’re here by yourself and I’m here by myself so why don’t we just enjoy each others company tonight?” she suggested.

Before Finn knew what he was doing he was nodding. He didn’t want to be alone and best of all Serena wanted to be with him unlike someone else who had stood him up.

The bile rose quickly from his stomach and before he knew it he had vomited all over her shoes.

“Finn” she squealed annoyed.

Oh god, he thought as he pulled the condom of his cock and pulled his jeans and boxers back up over his hips, what the fuck have I done. He knew he shouldn’t have had that last beer even though it was hardly an excuse for what he had just done.

“That was great” Serena told him as she attempted to plaster herself against him.

Somehow he had ended up in the basement of the Alpha house fucking the feisty brunette and now that reality had sunk in he wanted to run and hide.

This wasn’t supposed to be how his night turned out he thought bitterly. He was supposed to spend the night with Rachel, being Finn and Rachel instead he had ended up dong something he knew she would never forgive him for.

“I’ve gotta go” he jumped up in a panic. He knew he was being a prick running out on Serena and truthfully it wasn’t her fault but he could face her right now.

“Call Me,” she said reaching up and kissing him.

“Yeah” he answered vaguely before turning and rushing out.

Once he reached the apartment he walked in quietly. Sure enough Rachel was fast asleep in his bed and he stopped and watched her for a while. He felt the tears well in his eyes as he thought of telling her what he had done but then a thought popped into his head ‘Would she even care, anymore?

Getting up quietly he made his way to the bathroom where he shed his clothes and showered before falling into bed.

By the time he got up the next morning Rachel was already long gone. He crushed the note bitterly in his hand and tossed it in the trash.

At the library.
