《My Princess》Chapter 1: Isabella

August 24, Monday

I rise frantically from my bed. Sweat drenches the bed sheets and rolls down my cheek. My lungs feel dry from me heaving.

I sit up in my bed to regain myself. That was until my alarm clock goes off scaring the crap out of me. I slam my hand on the demonic device and lay back down.

The past weekend I've had these crazy dreams. I was running through a forest. It always started with me running.

Someone or something was following right behind me. I'd run what felt like forever until I would reach a pond. It was beautiful and almost crystal clear somehow.

That's when I would turn around. The thing would slowly appear from the trees with a growl. Even in my dreams I could feel the chills travel down my body.

The thing would then run towards me with it's sharp teeth bared. Although that was when I woke up every time. What is wrong with me?

I had just moved here this weekend for a new start. I had just graduated college a couple months ago. I went for a nursing degree but now I'm not sure what I want to do. I've always liked art but I don't think I could get anywhere with that.

My mother, who I moved away from always told me go for nursing. She's a doctor so she knew I should be a nurse. My mother always told me art would get me no where in life and it hasn't.

My mother and I don't have a normal relationship. We were so close until my father died of lung cancer. Since then she has become a shell of herself. I can't blame her, I felt numb till I graduated high school. Then I realized that my dad wouldn't want me to mope around. He'd want me to succeed.

So I did.

My mother didn't care I was moving. With some money she gave me and my savings since I was 10, I've got a good apartment right now. I could pay more than a couple months with the money I have.

Realizing I start my first day at work today, I jump out of bed and run to the shower. I had already went in Friday to learn the ropes but today I would actually start.

After the shower, I dried my hair till it was in its wavy form. I brush my hair and add some light makeup. Your girl gotta look good for her first day.

The manager, Rebecca, told me to dress casually so I did. I wore a long sleeve gray shirt with black pants. I paired that with my converse and my purse.

I grab my things and move to the kitchen. I was mostly done with moving things in accept for some things. I had very heavy furniture that I had to move but didn't feel like doing it right now.

I grab a water bottle from the fridge deciding that's my breakfast. I didn't usually have time to make myself food in the morning.

I lock my door and leave the room walking down the long hallway. I lived in a smaller apartment building but it was still nice. I hadn't met any of my neighbors yet but that's ok.

I jump into my car and turn on the radio station. My shift started at 8am so I had to be quick. I'm usually never late to anything so I should be good. I drive like a maniac anyways.

As I arrive to the job I can't help but stare. The building was a bright purple with a large sign saying 'Sally's Sweets'. Flowers littered the walls, the entrance, also including the porch. There was a outdoor eating area for anyone who wanted to enjoy the weather.

I enter the building like I did last Friday still amazed. The scenery is just so happy looking. How could you be upset when stepping foot in here?

"Morning Isabella." Rebecca says from behind the counter. She was counting the money for the Monday morning rush.

"Morning." I say giving her a sweet smile. I walk to the back entering the kitchen. That's where I would be working. I absolutely hated cooking. But baking was a different story. I could bake any desert.

I put on the pink apron and tie it tightly around my body. I stare at the kitchen before I start my first day. I was very excited.
