Chapter 10 - Family Visits (Part 2)

Zara's POV

I gulped when I heard his name. The name that has been haunting me ever since he came into my life. The same name that continues to terrorizes my dreams and turns them into my worst nightmares. The name that belongs to the guy I was supposedly to be in love with. The name that covers all my past....

Zaviar.

Many of you are wondering who the hell is he. Well, believe me, when I tell you...you're gonna which you never knew. Zaviar was my everything back then. He was my best friend. My life. My lover. And at some point, I thought he was my mate, because of the strong attraction I had with him. But I thought wrong.

After we were together secretly for two years, we both found out that his mom was supposed to be marrying my dad in a matter of three weeks. That's when everything we had....became hell. He found out that his mom was only doing it to replace his dad and he got angry, claiming that no one could replace his dad. When I heard that, I thought it was so cute and loving that he thought of his dad that way. But then I found out about his plan. He thought that by killing my dad and revealing how weak he was, his mom would change her mind. But man was he wrong. His mom didn't want to replace her mate, she wanted the power. You see, my dad was the Alpha of the pack. In fact, he was one of the top five Alpha's in the world that had the most power. So when Zaviar found out about this, he was overwhelmed. Why....because his mom promised him power...lots of power. So they went along with that plan. But everything of that fell apart when my dad found his mate. Sure, my mom wasn't his mate so when she passed away, he didn't mourn long. But when he found his mate, Christina, the arrangements for the wedding was cancelled and long forgotten. He just went up to her and told her it was over because he found his mate and he's not planning on rejecting her. This caused Maria, Zaviar's mom, to become furious. He was supposed to be in love with her and no one else...in her mind that is, so she told her son that his former plan was still in process.

They were too crazed for the power to notice that in they're planning; I was standing right there, listening to their every word. I heard them planning out ways to kill my father, to kill Christina, and surprisingly, to kill me as well. When I heard Zaviar telling his mother that he would have a little 'fun' with me first, I gasped. Both turned to look my way and smiled deviously and me. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, so I did the best thing I could do in a situation like this.

I ran.

I ran all the way to the pack house, where my dad would be and told him about what Maria and Zaviar were planning to do to him, specifically leaving out the part about me. He was too worried about him and his mate; I didn't want to worry him anymore. At the time I thought it was an excellent idea, but now I'm not so sure. My dad ordered his men to capture Maria and Zaviar immediately and kill them. We were notified that Maria was killed in a matter of days and then she was brought back to the pack house, but they were still in search of Zaviar. Weeks passed. Then months, but still no luck in finding Zaviar.

Two months later, everything had settled down and my seventeenth birthday was in tow so no one was too worried about him. Everyone was focused on me. On the night on my birthday though, that's when everything went from peace to disaster. Zaviar came back and he was looking like he hadn't bathed, eaten, or showered at all. His clothes were trashed and torn and he had hair all over his face. His eyes only said one thing. Blood lust.He glanced at me and then back to my father. Before I knew what was happening, he lunged at him. I thought he was going to kill him, but he passed him and went for Christina. That's when everything froze. I saw it happen in front of my eyes. The way how Zaviar shifted to his grey wolf. The way how my father was trying to get up and protect his mate. The way how Zaviar sunk his teeth in her neck before slowly ripping it apart. The way how my dad crashed to his feet after he saw how Zaviar killed his lover...his mate...his everything. Dad was too focused on his mate that he didn't notice that Zaviar had shifted back and started to leave. But his words were not forgotten.

"Now you will suffer for killing my mother and her mate. No one will EVER try to replace my father. No one," he said then disappeared in the night air.

After that, no one had seen him. But I was more concerned about my father. All he did now was swallow himself in depression. So much, he cared for no one else; nothing else. Then one night, out of the blue, I saw someone sneaking through my window. Then I saw his green eyes. He was dressed in full black and his breath was ragged.

"I want you and I want you now," he said to me. And that was the first night I screamed for my dad to help me. But he never came. No one came. Because apparently, no one cared.

"Zara?" I faintly heard a voice call and then I saw I hand waving in front of my face. I blinked and shook my head out of my thoughts.

"Hello...earth to Zara?" I heard again.

"What? What happened?" I asked then looked at everything.

"I don't know...you spaced out and then I was trying to call you but you just seemed to be out of this world," Lilly said as she sat down. I took a seat beside her and tilted by head back so it hit the head rest on the couch.

"Are you o.k.?" I heard a sexy voice ask. I looked up and noticed that Hayden was inches away from my face. I blushed and looked down. That's the second time I blushed since I was around him. What the hell is happening to me?

You're starting to fall for him, my wolf said proudly. I tsked and her.

No I am not, I responded to her.

Yes, you are. You're just too cocky and stubborn to admit it, she responded. I rolled my eyes.

I am not...nor will I ever....fall for this dude. I don't go well with Alphas, remember, I said to her then I sighed inwardly. And I never will...

"So what were you thinking so hard about?" Lilly asked. I shook my head.

"Nothing much, just the usual," I said to her.

"Oh, I see... you were thinking about a guy," she said knowingly. I raised my eyebrow and her but she cocked her head to the side, glancing at Hayden who was talking to James while looking at us. I flushed crimson red.

"What...how...no I wasn't thinking...I..." I stuttered and then looked down. Oh great, blushing and now stuttering? I'm starting to think that the liquid that the pack nurse gave me is starting to affect my head.

"Oh my gosh, you so were! I can't believe you! You guys are so cute together," she started squealing and grinning, which- unfortunately - caught the guys’ attention.

"Who's cute together?" Hayden asked her with his eyebrow raised. Man, he does that a lot. Then again...I'm not complaining, it's kind of sexy and----Zara, stop it! Before Lilly could respond to his question, I put my palm over her mouth.

"Umm...umm...nobody, she was just...messing around," I said. James chuckled and shook his head out of amusement.

"How about we watch a movie?" a girl asked as she sat with the dude named Conner.

"Who are you?" I asked but as soon as I asked it, I remembered that I basically knew no one else here except Hayden, James, Conner and Lilly by names. I have seen a lot of faces but I just don't know the names.

"Oh, I just remembered you don’t know anyone here," the girl said then hopped off the couch, much to Conner's dismay. He growled which caused the girl to roll her eyes and stick her hand out to me.

"I'm Abigale, but some call me Abi, Conner's mate," she said but then I heard her mutter, "Unfortunately." I chuckled and shook her hand.

"Hey, I heard that!" Conner said with a frown. I laughed at his face and then turned back to Abigale. She pointed to a dude I recognized from the day I was carried here.

"He's Jonah, typical flirt, man-whore and has no expectations of finding his mate," Abi introduced. He smiled and winked at me. I rolled my eyes at his but went to shake his hand.

"Pleasure meeting you m'lady," he said then raised my hand to kiss it. I rolled my eyes once again.

"Wish I could say the same for you, sorry," I said with an innocent smile on my face. I heard laughter behind me.

"Ouch man, you got burned," James announced while laughing. We all laughed and then Jonah replied.

"Don't worry, I'm gonna get her back someday," he said with a shrug. I rolled my eyes and him and then Abi pointed at someone else.

"This is Logan, also a flirt, a player and sleeps with anything with legs and a vagina," she said. I laughed at her bluntness and then looked at him. Well, his appearance definitely screamed PLAYER but other than that he seems pretty alright. I held out my hand to shake but when he took it, he spinned me around.

"Pardon me if I'm wrong but did you happen to fall from heaven?" he asked with a smile. I shook my head.

"Nah, I came from hell...the Devil's Angel," I said. He smirked at me and came closer to wrap his arm around my waist.

"I see, well let's see if you know any tricks that he taught you," he said.

"Tricks?" I asked.

"Yeah, tricks that include you, me and my bed upstairs," he said cheekily. Before I could respond, I heard Hayden growl from behind me.

"Logan that's enough," he said then I felt a hand go around my waist. From the sparks, I knew it was him. He pulled me to his chest and I gasped when I hit it. His chest was rock hard. I wonder what it would feel like if I would run my hand down his--- there I go again with those thoughts.

"Relax man, I was just joking around. It's not like she's your mate or--wait a second. She's your mate?" he asked. The place went silent after that. Maybe they were having a mind conversation. The only thing that broke the silence was a knock on the front door.

"I'll go get it," Logan said and then rushed to the door. I sighed and then looked at Abigale.

"Want to meet any other people?" she asked. I eagerly nodded and then attempted to move but Hayden still held on to me.

"Guys, can I have a second with her?" he asked. There were only five people in the room now: Conner, James, Abigale, Lilly and Jonah. They all nodded and went out back. Hayden carried me upstairs and entered the room that I was staying in before. Then I noticed probably it was his room. Well, that explains why the sheets smelt like heaven...

"You alright?" he asked as he sat on the edge of the bed facing me. I looked at him and nodded. I stood there staring and him...well checking him out. He must have noticed because he suddenly smirked at me. I blushed and then looked away from him, exploring his room. Typical boy room; some clothes on the floor, dark colored walls, even some pictures of naked women on the wall. I turned to him with my eyebrow raised and pointed at the picture. It was a picture of Jennifer Lopez in her bikini. He chuckled nervously and got up to tear it down.

"The guys put it up as a joke for my seventeen birthday," he muttered. I shook my head and continued to snoop around his room. When I walked to the drawer, I saw a picture of Hayden and James doing a fist-bump.

"You guys seem really close," I said.

"Yeah, we've been best friends since diaper days," he said coming up behind me. I turned around to look at his expression but then looked at his hand as it slid around my waist. I looked up and again noticed that we were only inches away from each other.

"I never got to introduce myself," he said. I smiled at him.

"Oh really?" I asked as I smiled. He smiled back.

"Yeah, the name's Hayden. Hayden Pierce," he introduced in a bad-boy type of way. I rolled my eyes.

"And my name is Zara. Zara Ferrari, and yes before you ask, it's like the car," I said rolling my eyes. I had to say that, because when guys hear my name, it's like they have to ask 'oh, like the car?' He laughed when I said this but stopped to look at me, as if he was thinking about something. Then he looked into my eyes.

Instead of blushing and looking away as I expected me to do, I held his gaze. He seemed to be analyzing my face, but when his gaze landed on my lips, he leaned in. His lips molded mine so perfectly. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his wrapped tighter around my waist. I moaned as I felt his fingers graze under my blouse. He bit my lip but I denied him access, which caused him to growl. He bit my lip again, but only harder and I gave into him this time. His tongue came in contact with mine and we started fighting for dominance. Unfortunately, he won and he lifted me up off my feet and I instantly wrapped them around his torso.

He started walking and then I felt my back hit the bed. I pulled away for breathe and he started trailing kisses down my neck. He was about to mark me when I pushed him away.

"No, not...not yet," I said and I breathed out ragged breathe. Hurt flashed through his eyes and I leaned up to kiss up.

"It's not that I don't want to but..." I trailed off remembering the day when he was so furious with me that I was his mate. Basically, he was telling me that he didn't want me.

You don't know if that's what he meant, my wolf reassured.

I thought we were over this, I said to her.

No, you ignore what I said to you, she snapped at me. I rolled my eyes at her, already used to her attitude.

What attitude? I do not have an attitude!She responded at me. I chuckled and switched her off, as she argued with me. I sighed and looked up to see Hayden looking at me expectantly.

"I just remember the day back when I ran on your lands. You were basically telling me that you didn't want me. You rejected me," I explained.

"No...it...uhh...I didn't mean to back then...I was...you....uhh," he stuttered and I giggled at him. He rolled his eyes and nuzzled in my neck (probably just to hide his blushing face).

"I didn’t mean to. I just...I had planned out everything for my life already and..." he started explaining but I cut him off.

"And I ruined your plans," I said and looked down. He brought my chin up to look at him.

"No, you didn't. If anything, you made them better, alright. Don't misunderstand what I said," he said then pecked my lips.

"But you said that you had your plans already. That's the only explanation there would be," I said looking in his eyes.

"But that's not the only..." he said but was interrupted when the door flew open.

"Bro, we got a problem," the same guy from earlier said. Hayden growled.

"Could this problem wait for just a few more seconds, Alex," he growled at him. Alex smirked and then looked between us.

"Nah, it can't. It's requires the Alpha," Alex responded and then left the room. Hayden growled and got up off me (very unhappy I might add). He looked at me.

"Come on," he said gently to me. I looked at him as I raised my eyebrow but got up anyway. While I was about to pass him, he slipped his hand into mine. I looked down at our intertwined hands and then back up, only to be welcomed by a grinning Hayden. I rolled my eyes at him and dragged him out the door. Stupid boy...

When we got downstairs, we saw a crowd at the door.

"Now what the hell is going on?" Hayden growled at all of them. All of them turned to look at him, but none answered.

"Guys, what the..." he said but trailed off when he saw who was at the door. I turned to see the same two guys that carried me here the first time, along with a surprise. What the hell was he doing here?

Hmmm...I wonder who's at the door. Please comment. I really want to know your thoughts. Personally, I'm loving Hayden and Zara's elationship, but just a head's up...there will be some surprizes in store.
