"Do you think he was really the cupid?" I asked, throwing the stick of my now eaten candy floss at the garbage can.

Tyrone only gave me a blank stare in return.

"Oh come on! He looked like a cupid and let's acknowledge the fact that he disappeared!" I argued, waving my hands in the air.

Tyrone pinched the bridge of his nose,"What do you want to ride next?" He drawled out, swiftly changing the topic.

After our encounter with David earlier, we sat on one of the bench, quietly eating our candy floss and occasionally talking about random stuff.

I huffed at his ignorance of my words,"Hmm, do you want to try the bumper car? I haven't tried it before," I suggested, giving him a sideway glance.

He shrugged,"Why not?" He said, before standing up.

I managed to not let my mouth drop open when he turned to me and offered his hand to mine.

Despite that I knew he was only keeping his promises, I couldn't help but blush at the fact that we were holding hands.

We were passing by on one of the stalls that held carnival games when I spotted the long ranges of cute teddy bears and animals that were displayed at the top.

I was really fascinated that I didn't notice that I let go of Tyrone's hand and went to one of the stalls, and eyed one of the cute stuffed animal.

It was small, furry, and had long ears that fell to its side of the head cutely. It's stuffed hinged leg and short fluffly tail confirmed my guess-a rabbit.

But that wasn't what caught my attention, it was the stuffed carrot that it held between its arms that completely drawed me in.

I let out a surprised yelp when a hand rested lightly at my lower back. I looked up, my eyes meeting Tyrone's side profile.

He was looking at the stuffed toy that I was eyeing a few moments ago, he cleared his throat before turning to me.

A gorgeous shade of brown eyes met my hazel-gray ones.

The moment my eyes met his, I couldn't help but be hypnotized. It was abit dark, but I could make out his eyes that were staring at me with deep intense.

The hand on my back suddenly felt warm, a rush of electrifying tingles graced my skin, goosebumps forming at the back of my neck.

Before I knew it, one of us were starting to lean in but before our lips could touch, Tyrone suddenly stepped back, his eyes turning away from me and the hand that was holding me earlier was now scratching at the back of his head, awkwardly might I add.

I felt another blush coat on my cheeks. I cleared my throat loudly, wiping my clammy hands unto my sweatpants.

"Do you want that stuffed toy?" Tyrone quietly asked, his eyes eyeing the stall.

"Yes but sadly, I suck at carnival games." I huffed, thankful that he didn't let it that awkward.

Before I knew it, Tyrone was already making his way there. The air around him was confident as usual but it didn't strike that much that it could come off as cocky.

He talked to the guy that was managing the stall briefly, before the guy handed him three rings.

I didn't bother coming closer to him, I just stared at him from where I was since I needed a bit of a breathe after our almost kiss.

you almost kissed him, my subconscious teasingly said.

I immediately shutted my brain, growing annoyed. I didn't kiss him, it was an almost kiss and I wasn't the one who started to lean in.

You were the one who started to lean bitch, my subconscious once again, fired back.

Did I?

I shake my head lightly, did that mean that only I was the one who wanted to kiss him? I mean, if other girls were in my position and be stuck with a guy like Tyrone, they'd be tempted to also kiss him right?

Oh god, we aren't even progessing in our friendship and I'm already jumping into the relationship part!

I was cut off of my thoughts when I felt something soft touch behind my back.

I looked behind me and couldn't surpress the surprise on my face when I saw Tyrone standing there, his arm outstretched as he offered me the stuffed toy that I was eyeing earlier.

I couldn't help but grinned, taking it from his hands. I hugged it to my chest before glancing back at one of the stalls and felt my eyes widen when I saw my long time enemy.

I handed him the stuffed toy, told him to wait there and without further ado, march my way to the stall.

I couldn't help but glare menacingly, handing the man some coins before accepting the three darts, not once breaking eye contact with my enemy.

"We meet again my precious enemy," I said lowly, my eyes turning slits.

The balloon stared back at me, its rubber latex that was inflated into a circle glinted at the light, mocking me.

Tempting me to just jumped between the small barrier within us and march up to it and stabbed the hell out of it with my dart.

I shook my head, not wanting to be unfair unlike my enemy here, who deserves a cheating award.

You're probably wondering how we became enemies, its a very funny story.

You see the first time I went to a carnival, I was only ten years of age. My mom made me go with Neo and Peggy who were also going with their own group of friends.

I told my mom that I wouldn't go but she insisted, thinking that Neo's friends or Peggy's friends were also my group of friends. She dropped us off and the second she left, Neo and Peggy were already walking away with their own friends.

I was left alone to fend for myself. Considering I was young, there were age restrictions on some rides so the only one I tried was the carousel before I decided to play at every stalls that gives good prices and every single one I won them.

I remember that if you managed to win atleast one price at all of the 10 stalls, you can go to the carnival counter and exhange all those prize into a human teddy bear.

The tenth stall, which was the last stall that I must win was the dart and balloon. I gave my money to the guy and with blessed ability, I won the game and exchanged all my prizes into a human-sized teddy bear and went back home happily.

That is what I wished happened.

The three darts that were given to me went into a complete waste when each one of the fucking dart wouldn't hit the damn balloon.

I was so caught up in determination that I didn't notice that I managed to lose all my money on the game and went home with a burning anger at the balloons.

Every single time then that I would come back at the carnival, I would try and would always win at the nine stalls but when it comes to the last stall, I would lose.

Just because some fucking balloon wouldn't cooperate with the damn dart.

I remember last year, I went back here and tried again. I didn't managed to hit one dart but there was a nine year old boy who was beside me, who popped the balloons with all of the three motherfudging darts.

I can't believe that my seventeen year old self would be so jealous of seeing a nine year old boy carry a human-sized teddy bear.

"You're going down," I mouthed at the balloon before pointing at the balloon and gliding my thumb across my neck.

The guy eyed me weirdly but I ignored him.

This was a fight that I must win. I cracked my neck to the side, gave a little stretch and a few boxing combinations with my hands before eyeing the balloon with such cation.

First dart.

I eyed the balloon before pulling my hand backward, without waiting further I threw the dart.

I was about to once again glare at the balloon, waiting for the familiar thud of the dart hitting the board and not the balloon.

Pop!

My eyes grew wide in surprise, mouth gaping at the now deflated balloon.

I glance back at Tyrone with my eyes still wide, he gave me an encouraging grin before doing a thumbs up.

I grinned, turning back to the balloons. I procedeed to throw two more darts and felt really happy when I was met by two pops.

"Congratulations! Pick a prize," The guy said, his hand pointing at the teddy bears.

"Are those also prizes?" I asked, pointing at the series of necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

The guy nodded,"Yes, you can also choose from these." He said.

I pointed to one of the plain silver ring, hoping that Tyrone would appreciate it.

"Do you want something to be carved in it?" He asked, taking the ring out of the box.

"Yes please," I nodded, wondering what I would carve in it.

I could feel myself smile when I finally thought of it, I beckon the guy closer before whispering it in his ear.

I waited for it to finish, occasionally glancing at Tyrone and did a 'wait' signal a few times.

I thanked the guy, before putting the ring on my pocket. I was cheekily smiling as I made my way back to Tyrone.

"Hi," I greeted, doing a small wave before taking the stuffed bear out of his grasp.

Tyrone rolled his eyes, biting his lip to stop the smile forming on his face before taking a hold of my hand and pulling me forward to walk.

"You're not even asking what my prize was?" I wondered out, trying to catch up with his long strides.

"It was obviously jewelry," He said, slowing down a bit when he noticed my struggle.

I smiled secretly,"Right about that, Thank you for winning this. I'll make sure that Mr. Arden will be in safe hands." I said, my eyes glancing at him.

"Arden?"

"It's his name silly," I replied, rolling my eyes at his questioning stare.

He chuckled slightly, before finally stopping in one of the lines. I looked up to see it was the ferris wheel.

I raised my brow,"Why are we here?" I asked out, my eyes eyeing the ride.

"There's this hidden rule that if you ever bring someone at a carnival, you must always ride the ferris wheel before you go," He replied, his thumb doing circles at the back of my hand.

I nodded, biting my lip to stop the squeal of aw escaping from my lips. We were waiting for a few moments before it was finally our turn and when the ferris wheel stopped at the top, I couldn't help but be in awe at the view.

"It's beautiful," I whispered, my eyes dancing at the different color of lights.

"It really is," Tyrone agreed, his voice low and held a certain emotion.

I turned to him and was surprised to already see him staring at me. The damn blush on my face could be felt, before I cleared my throat and looking away.

"Thank you for agreeing on the third and fourth condition. I had fun." I said, offering him a genuine smile.

He looked at me for a few minutes, before shaking his head,"It was nothing and besides, you aren't that annoying than I thought." He answered, a soft smiling gracing on his lips.

I had a permanent smile on the whole ride. Enjoying the view with a handsome carrot by my side.

"It's getting late, your mom must be getting worried," He said, glancing at his watch.

I nodded my head,"Yeah, let's go." I murmured, my hand once again finding warmth on his.

We were a few meters away from the exit when I heard a voice calling Tyrone's name.

I felt Tyrone stiffen, his hold in my hand tightened. I grew confused before I turned to look at where the voice came from.

A group of guys were not so far behind us. They were all wearing a varsity jacket and if my guess is right, they're a group of jocks. It seemed that they went on a different school since I've never seen them before.

They were talking loudly with each other and only one person was looking at us, a smirk evident on his face as he made his way towards us. I felt Tyrone glare intensely at the guy who called his name.

He looked around our age. He had cropped brunette hair and was taller than me but Tyrone stood taller a few inches. He was a bit buff with green eyes that look like the shade of a snake's skin.

I couldn't help but shiver slightly when his eyes stared into mine, a twisted smirk on his face as his eyes caught on our joined hands.

"Tyrone Adler, fancy seeing you here." He greeted before meeting my eyes,"and with a date!" He continued, his eyes swiftly checking me out.

Tyrone stepped forward and pushed me behind him, hiding me from his disgusting gaze.

"Don't look at her," He snapped, fisting his hand threateningly.

The guy raised his hand in surrender,"Woah Adler, is that how you greet an old friend?" He said, snickering slightly.

"Old Friend? I don't do friends Aron especially with a greeny bastard like you," Tyrone spat.

"That hurt, didn't you miss me? Well, I know someone who does." He paused, gasping dramatically.

"Oh wait! She doesn't miss you! she's to busy moaning my name to even remember you," Aron grinned darkly.

I couldn't help but lift a brow at what he said. She? Who's She? Does she have something to do with Tyrone's past?

"You can have her for all I care, I mean animals tend to be closer to their own species right?" Tyrone smiled mockingly.

It seemed that it hit a nerve on Aron since I could the expression wiping on his face.

"Whatever Adler, you're nothing but a pathetic boring guy who was only played by a bitch you thought was sincere." Aron's mouth twisted into an ugly sneer.

I couldn't help but grow mad at his words. Nobody can insult Tyrone like that, especially a greeny bastard like him.

"You're kinda the one being pathetic here considering you're picking a fight on someone who clearly doesn't give a fuck," I snapped, stepping forward with a glare.

Aron's eyes widened in surprise before smirking,"Aren't you a feisty one? How about you come with me and I can show you how feisty I can be also babe." He said, his slimy hands reaching for me.

I slapped his hands away," I wouldn't go to someone who's lower class than me." I seethed, glaring at him.

He chuckled," Don't you know who I am? I'm Aron Thompson honey, the son of a famous millionaire." He gave me a winning smile.

It was clear on his face that he thought I would leave Tyrone the second I hear millionaire and son.

What a fucking donkey.

I snorted,"You saying that makes you more desperate and I wasn't talking about wealth honey. Last time, I checked, humans outrank animals right? so basically, you're nothing but a low class." I gave him a sweet mocking smile.

The smile on his face wiped out and was replaced with fury, he immediately took a step forward at me, his fist clenched.

Before I knew it, Tyrone pushed me again behind him.

"One more step and I wouldn't hesistate on sleeping at one of the prison cell tonight." Tyrone threatened, his words dripping with a dark promise.

Aron paled before stepping back. He threw a glare at us,"This isn't finished." He said, before turning around and walking away.

I was about to shout back a reply when I was dragged by Tyrone out of the carnival and into the parking lot.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Tyrone snapped, his mouth in a thin line.

"What I was thinking? Well, I was like who the fuck does he think he is, insulting you like that? I couldn't stand it so I decided to join in and put him in his plac-"

"Are you fucking joking? Why would you do that? You don't know him Zoe. You don't know what he's capable of," He harshly said, glaring at me.

"Are you scared of him?" I shot back, my anger rising,

A howl of wind past us, lightning suddenly striked into the dark sky and the loud boom of thunder met our eyes but neither one of us wanted to back down.

"Fuck no, he could be the son of the president for all I care and I wouldn't be scared shitless of him!" He fumed, his eyes turning a shade of black.

"Then why the motherless goat are you mad at me for defending you?" I complained, turning frustrated.

He swore loudly,"Because he can hurt you Zoe! He has money, he could get back to you any time of the day, month, or even fucking year!" He argued, throwing his hands in the air.

I raised my hand up infront of him," I don't fucking care Tyrone and why the hell are you mad at me for defending you to that douchebag? I'm your friend!" I continued, slamming my hand unto his chest.

He took my wrist stopping me from hitting him,"Who said were friends?" He scoffed, glaring at me.

I felt my heart drop at his words.

"We aren't friends Zoe! Damn it! Just because everything went well doesn't mean I consider you my friend! Stop being fucking delusional and accept the truth that I will never consider you a friend."

Each words were like a cut in my heart, as the words settled deep in my mind. I could feel my anger slipping, replaced with intense hurt.

I stepped back, tears welling up in my eyes. I thought things were starting to work out. I mean, the whole day he didn't actually snap snap at me.

Tyrone seemed to realize what he said before his face dropped, he tried to take a step towards me but I held a hand to stop him.

"I'm sorry for wanting to be your friend. I'm sorry for ever thinking that we could be friends. I'm sorry for being delusional and most of all, I'm sorry for even fucking trying." I spat harshly, the first tear made its way down my cheek.

"Zo-"

A loud thunder once again echoed, before the first drop of rain went down and continued, growing stronger every minute. We were drenched in seconds but neither one of us acknowledged it.

My vision grew blurred as the rain pattered against us or maybe it was the tears that was also making its way down my cheeks.

I wasn't sure.

Tyrone tried to take a hold of my hand and lead me to the car but I pushed him away and uttered one word.

"Leave." I whispered, and I knew he heard it because his eyes met mine and a flicker of pain flashed through those orbs before it was gone.

"It's raining Zoe, I can't leave you. You have no ride home." He said, a certain plea could be heard at his voice.

"As you said, we're not friends. You can stop the act and go home. I'll manage on my own." I said coldly.

"I'm not leaving you," He let out, standing firmly on the ground.

"Then, I'll leave," I said before continuing,"I guess this was all for nothing then," I threw him the ring that I won earlier.

He managed to catch it, his eyes connecting with mine as a lighting flashed.

"Goodbye Tyrone Adler," I said, before turning around and this time, walking away.

Zero steps forward and with a heavy heart, countless steps backward.

I'm sorry cardishes, I thought they were doing well but I guess, Tyrone didn't agree with me.

My heart is reaching out for Zoe. Tyrone is such a dumb ass for treating Zoe like that >=/

This is my fifth longest chapter in the story so far with almost 3.4k words.
