《SINNER - Klaus Mikaelson》EIGHTTEEN

Some of the founding families went rogue and decided they would try to clean up the town's vampire problem on their own—without sheriff Forbes. Of course, they left her out because she would have never let it happen, she knows what her daughter is, and she was close family friends with Adeline's parents—she wouldn't have let them torture her. As for why they took Elena, I guess they hoped she would point them in the direction of more vampires, since they knew her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend was one. But there is nothing to worry about when it comes to them anymore—Klaus killed them all.
Today Adeline was thankful for being a vampire—she woke up from last nights torture session, healed and feeling normal again. She was sprawled out in the middle of Klaus's large bed, but he wasn't in it with her. She sat up and looked around the room, hoping he was at least in there, but he wasn't. Adeline climbed out of bed and threw a t-shirt over her head and went to look for the Hybrid.
She could hear hushed voices coming from downstairs, she was trying to make out what they were saying but she needed to get a little closer. She stepped onto the wood floor and it creaked beneath her. She was hoping Klaus didn't hear that, but she knew better. He rounded the corner and stared at the sneaking blonde.
"Good Morning." She smiled innocently, knowing she was caught.
"Nice try love." Klaus scoffed.
Adeline rolled her eyes and walked towards the Hybrid. She saw one of his sired men standing in the room—it seemed like she had interrupted an important conversation.
"What's going on Klaus?" She questioned; she was starting to feel like it had something to do with her. The way the new Hybrid was staring at her made her feel like he knew something she didn't. Klaus shook his head, it seemed like he didn't want to tell Adeline, but he knew she wasn't going to let it go.
"Tim here has just informed me that Elena is in transition." Klaus huffed. "Which means I have a Salvatore to kill – or two."
"Wait—Elena is—" she muttered, trying to come to grips with what Klaus was telling her.
"Becoming a vampire. Yes, yes it's all very tragic." He scoffed, interrupted her; he wasn't in the mood for her emotions this morning. He was angry he would now lose his ability to sire more hybrids.
"I have to go see her." Adeline shook her head; she was worried about her friend. They may have been in a fight, but they have been there for each other since birth.
"Might want to stay away from there for awhile love—I'm going to have to kill the lot of them." Klaus warned.
"No! Klaus you are not going to touch them." Adeline argued. "You don't even know what happened. What if it wasn't their fault?"
"Everything is the Salvatore's fault somehow." Klaus laughed under his breath.
Adeline stepped forward and placed her hand on the Hybrids chest. She locked eyes with him, trying to calm him.
"Please—don't do anything. Let me go see them and see what is going on." She pleaded.
Klaus looked at her with cold eyes—he was unamused by her attempts to persuade him. He wrapped hid hand around her wrist and moved it from his chest.

"Did you honestly think batting your eyelashes and asking nicely would change my mind?" he huffed.
"No Klaus—I didn't." she lied. "I thought that you cared about me and respected me enough to do this for me."
Adeline was offended by Klaus's harsh demeanor—just when she was getting use to the side of him that was a little more tender, at least towards her, he pulls something like this. She knew she couldn't change who he was completely, he would always be Klaus Mikaelson after all, but she hoped he would be better towards her.
"I do everything for you!" he yelled, looking down the blonde with anger. "I am constantly saving you-- you're like my own personal damsel in distress." His tone was harsh, he was sparing no feelings today.
"I didn't realize it was such an inconvenience for you to save my life." She breathed; her voice was shaking. She was offended, and she was hurt.
"Yeah, I think it's a little bit of an inconvenience—what with you and your friends always being in harms way and all." He scoffed. "And me-- the unkillable Hybrid always have to clean up the messes. Yet the promises that were made to me, something as simple as keeping Elena alive, of course get broken." He was yelling at Adeline now, his words echoing off the walls of the home.
This was what Klaus did—he got betrayed or hurt and he lashed out. He had done it to his siblings for years and now Adeline was suffering the wrath. It wasn't her fault he had to save her from Mikael, it wasn't her fault the rogue founders kidnapped her, and she hated that the good things he had done for her, he was now throwing back in her face.
"Niklaus!" Elijah shouted, stepping into the room with the fighting pair. He had heard the argument escalating from upstairs and knew it was headed nowhere helpful fast. "What is going on here?"
"Klaus was just explaining about how he hated having to save my life." Adeline snapped, tears filling her eyes.
"Is this true?" Elijah eyed his vengeful brother down.
"That's not exactly what I said." Klaus scoffed, keeping his eyes locked on Adeline.
"Don't worry – I got the message loud and clear. Next time I'm in danger don't call Klaus." She glowered. She knew what she said next wasn't the smartest, but she wanted to hurt him, the way he was hurting her. "I'll just call Stefan."
The original Hybrid let out a bone chilling, dark laugh that filled the room. He started pacing back and forth shaking his head.
"That seals it then—I will rip Stefan's heart out before days end." He snarled. "Who will you call then sweetheart?" Klaus knew he was being self-destructive and hurtful, but he couldn't help himself. It was like a disease he couldn't cure. He had been this way for so long.
"Niklaus, that is enough!" Elijah scolded.
"It's okay Elijah, I've heard all I needed to." Adeline choked and turned away from the brothers, ready to leave the house.
Klaus swiftly moved in front of her, blocking the door with his body.
"Don't turn your back on me!" he fumed. Elijah ran to his brother, pushing him out of the way. He knew when his brother was like this it would do the girl no good to stay.

"If the girl wants to leave, then let her." Elijah spat.
"Fine, go!" Klaus shouted. "Run and tell Stefan to expect me."
Adeline opened the door and was gone with the wind. She couldn't stand to watch Klaus like that for another minute. She also knew she needed to get to her friends—to see what happened to Elena and how she was doing.
"Niklaus." Elijah spoke slowly, anger laced in his voice. "What is wrong with you?"
Klaus didn't respond to his brother, he only scoffed at him. He didn't want to spend anytime listening to a typical Elijah speech about nobility and honor.
"That girl is the only good thing you have ever done." He spat. "Saving her—protecting her—loving her brother, is the only time I've ever believed there was hope for you."
"Loving her?" Klaus laughed. "That's it then? You think I'm in love?" Those words had never been spoken from Klaus's lips. In all his time on this earth, never once had he fallen in love or admitted to loving anyone.
"I know you do." Elijah scolded. "I know what it looks like to love someone—to be in love with them."
"Oh god brother, don't start with your pathetic story about loving Katerina and how I drove her away." Klaus badgered.
Elijah was furious with his brother—it was true that Klaus had taken away the one girl he loved. She was forced to run from him for years and years because of her brothers desire to kill her. But even still, through all of that he still loved his brother, he still wanted to find him redemption.
"You did Niklaus! And because I know how that feels I don't want the same thing to happen to you!" Elijah shouted. "You may not be ready to admit it to yourself or say it, but you love her."
"Love makes you weak!" Klaus snarled.
"You're wrong about that."

Adeline let herself into the Salvatore house and was greeted by Stefan.
"You heard?" He questioned.
"Yeah—I heard." She breathed; she could tell her was upset.
"That must mean Klaus knows too then." Stefan huffed.
"What happened Stefan?" Adeline questioned. She didn't want to talk about Klaus right now.
Stefan explained about everything going on with Alaric and how Elena got hurt and the idiot Doctor Fell healed her with vampire blood, but then she died from an internal head injury. I guess they should be thankful she did have the blood in here system, or she would be dead right now.
"Can I see her?"
Stefan nodded, and led her upstairs. Elena was sitting in Stefan's room, on his bed staring blankly out the window.
"Elena?" Addy called out.
"Addy." Elena wept, running towards her friend, and wrapping her arms around her. They hadn't spoken since the fight or since they were both kidnapped. "I'm sorry—I'm sorry for slapping you. I'm sorry for our fight."
Adeline knew what Elena was going through, she was probably experiencing significant guilt. That was one of the worst parts of being a vampire, everything was so much worse-- the guilt, the anger but when you were happy it was so much better.
"It's okay." Adeline smiled. "Let's just forget about it, okay?"
"Okay." Elena agreed, wiping the tears from under her eyes.
"So— have you fed?" she questioned.
"Yeah." Elena admitted. "I couldn't leave Jeremy behind."
"Okay good, step one is done then."
"And step two." Elena smiled, showing her friend the daylight ring Bonnie made for her.
"Thank God for Bonnie." Adeline laughed.
The two girls sat on Stefan's bed and caught up for hours. Elena eventually realized how mad Klaus must be about her no longer being human—Adeline told her not to worry about it for now. She would try to work on him eventually. She didn't know if she could do anything too subside his anger, especially with the things he said to her this morning, but she didn't want her friend to worry about that now.
Adeline left Elena in bed; she could tell her friend needed some rest. She joined Stefan and Damon downstairs, wanting to say goodnight before she left.
"How did she seem?" Damon questioned.
"She's going to be okay." Adeline assured them. They both nodded and sighed with relief. "Well, I should get going."
"To the Mikaelsons?" Stefan questioned.
"Home actually." Adeline answered bluntly. Stefan could tell something had happened, but he wasn't going to press her.
"I could walk with you—if you want." He offered.
"Sure—that would be nice." Adeline nodded.
The two friends walked through the night, talking about anything and everything. It felt like old times, like before things got so messy and complicated. When they got to her house, Stefan walked her up onto the porch.
"Thanks for walking me all the way home." She smiled. "You didn't have to do that."
"I wanted too; walking clears my head. Plus, we couldn't have you getting kidnapped...again." He teased.
"Good point." She laughed. "Well, good night then." She turned away, reaching her hand for the door when Stefan grabbed her arm.
"Wait Adeline—" he blurted, he pulled her into his chest and kissed her without a moment of hesitation.
This kiss was different then fake kiss they shared in Chicago, and the spiteful kiss they shared at the ball before. It was different because she could tell there were feelings behind it, Stefan's feelings. She could tell he wanted this, he wanted to kiss her this time and that shocked her. They were friends, she always saw Stefan as her friend. She wished she could see him as more, maybe that would be easier than her and Klaus but she couldn't help how she felt.
"Stefan—" she breathed, pulling away from the kiss. "I don't understand."
"I don't either Adeline. I just—" he started.
"Don't say anything else okay?" she pleaded. "Just let me go for the night."
Stefan reluctantly agreed, nodding at the girl as he stood under the faint porch light staring at her.
Unfortunately for the two of them, Klaus was inside waiting for Adeline to come home so he could talk to her—and he heard the whole thing.
