Y/N's P.O.V.
"Y/N!" Klaus jumped on me and I laughed a little, stumbling back into Diego.
"Hey, calm down, little brother." I said, using the nickname I used to call Klaus. He was always the baby of the group, even though I was a year younger than them all.
"I didn't think you were coming back." He whispered and I smiled.
"For you, Klaus? Always." He stood up and Diego connected our hands.
"Come on, we should probably go and thank Five." Diego said and I nodded my head as Klaus walked off to another room.

"I can't just ignore it, Y/N. Something is wrong with Mom." Diego said quietly and I sighed.
"You said it yourself, your Dad was a monster." I gave him a sad smile.
"But I don't want you to lose both of them. Not now."
"Do you remember that time... the day before your 15th birthday, when I was helping you improve your fighting skills and I snuck you in here?" Diego suddenly asked and I nodded my head.
"Then dad almost caught us, but Grace distracted him long enough for us to hide until he left?"
"Yeah." I laughed.
"I stayed over and we were so tired the next day. No one except Grace knew and she gave us extra cookies for energy."
"Oh, her cookies were always the best!" Diego said excitedly.
"She said she was going to make some, can we check if they're done?"
"You haven't changed." I said, getting up.
"But yeah, I want cookies too." We started heading towards the kitchen when the familiar sound of a gun being cocked caught my attention.
"Move!" Diego yelled, pushing me and throwing a few knives. He was right behind me as the shooters fired. I turned a corner and pulled Diego back against the wall.

"Are you hit?"
"I'm good, you?" I asked and he nodded. Heavy footsteps approached us and Diego attacked the bigger one.
"Cha-Cha! Shoot them!" He yelled and I took one of Diego's knives, throwing it towards them. Diego groaned as he head butted the guy, before kicking him away. Diego grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the library.
"Do you trust me?" He asked and I nodded my head as we reached the balcony. He grabbed me and threw me over the edge, causing me to shriek and land on the couch. I rolled off and he jumped down as we put our backs against the cupboard.
"You okay?"
"I'm gonna kill you if they don't." I replied and he laughed nervously. They came in and I pulled Diego out of the way, just as they began to shoot. We held our hands over our heads and the gunshots suddenly stopped, only to be replaced with what sounded like Luther and Allison grunting.
We stood up and saw that the guy was choking Allison.
"Let. Her. Go." Diego charged at him, but it didn't have much effect. I looked for something to throw or use as a weapon, getting frustrated when I couldn't find anything in arms reach. Luther suddenly ripped the guy away from Allison and threw him out of the library.
"Who the Hell are these guys?" Allison asked and Diego looked at me carefully. I shook my head a little.
"Let's get out of here, now." Luther said and Diego grabbed my hand and dragged me down to the kitchen.
"Dee, Stop." He froze and looked at me as I leaned against the wall, wincing.
"Kill these psychos for me, will ya?" I laughed weakly, collapsing against the wall, my hand sticky and wet with my blood.

"Y/N?!" Diego kneeled down beside me.
"It's not that bad. I just need a few minutes." I lied.
"N-No." Diego stuttered with tears in his eyes.
"Dee, look at me." I said through the pain.
"Go and kill those little bitches."
I was a little surprised when Diego pressed a quick kiss to my head, before going off into the kitchen.
Soon enough, the woman hurried past me, not even seeing me as she made her way up the stairs.
Something flew past and she grunted in pain as Allison and Diego came back.
"Y/N?" Allison asked and I forced a smile.
"Here," Diego helped me up and helped me up the stairs.
"How bad is it?"
"Bad." I said truthfully and he nodded.
"Luther!" Allison screamed, causing Diego and I to flinch as she ran over to the giant. Diego helped me sit down on the stairs as he helped Luther up. We all looked up at the woman with the pink mask as she stabbed something into the wall.
"Get out of the way!" Luther pushed Allison and Diego away, Allison landing opposite Diego, who practically jumped to cover me. His body hovered over mine and he turned, just as the chandelier fell on top of Luther. The woman got away, but we all couldn't take our eyes off of Luther; who's shirt had ripped, revealing a mass of unnatural hair and muscle.
"Holy shit." Diego breathed and stood up. Luther stood and looked at us all, before running upstairs. Allison moved over to Vanya, who was stood in the doorway and Diego helped me up again.
"Shit. Mom." He said suddenly and my eyes widened as he let go of me and ran up stairs. I followed behind, slower, finding Mom happily humming to herself and doing her cross stitch. Diego sat down beside her and I managed to make my way over.
"Mom?" He asked quietly, looking between her and the cross stitch that she was seeing into her arm.
"Dee," Diego looked at me with tears in his eyes, standing up and hugging me. I felt my hand touch the cool metal of one of his knives and I took it, taking a step back.
Letting out a shaky breath, I handed Diego the knife and he looked at me with pleading eyes. I looked down and he took it, going over and kneeling by Grace.
"Diego? What are you doing?" Grace asked and I tried to blink away the tears.
"I-It's gonna- gonna be o-" Diego said and I covered my mouth, trying to prevent myself from sobbing.
"Remember what we worked on? Just picture the word in your mind." Grace said with a soft smile.
"I-It's gonna be o-okay, m-m-Mom." Diego whispered. There was a quiet beeping and I closed my eyes as Diego fell back. Grace was gone.
"Y/N." Diego whispered, moving over to him. A tear fell down his face and he hugged me tightly, as if he was scared he'd lose me too.

Is That A Wisp?
Author’s Note: The start of the story is very slow and cliche. Give it a chance until the wisp reaches the human cities. It’s at that point that the book’s charm shows itself (Around chapter 20, all free!).
