《Alpha Grayson》Chapter 1

I'm sitting in the back seat of my dad's 2014 Honda Civic, I have one earphone in my right ear and my head resting against the rather uncomfortable head rest. We've been travelling for almost eleven hours and even though I knew that we had almost arrived at our destination I was beginning to get irritable and grouchy.
I turn my head to look out the window at the trees going by in a blur. It's raining and slightly foggy outside. There wasn't a house in sight yet and only a few cars scattered on the road. This was new, in all my seventeen years of moving countries we had never moved to an area so remotely, peaceful and quiet.
My mum put me out of my trance. "Ayanna can you give Luke an apple?"
"Sure mum", I replied while digging into the backpack by my feet to fetch my brother the fruit.
Luke was my six year old brother, visually we were very different. Unlike me he had pitch black hair, bright green eyes and a few freckles on his nose. He looked more like our mum, I on the other hand looked more like my dad with my chocolate brown hair and hazel eyes.
I passed him the apple and he began munching away happily. I smiled at my little brother and rested my head on the head rest again and continued to stare out of the window, deeply entranced by my thoughts.
About an hour later my mum put me out of my trance for a second time that journey. "We're here!" She practically yelled while joyfully getting out of the car and assisting Luke out of his car seat. The weather was better than before and the sun could be seen peeping through the clouds scattered around the sky.

I sigh deeply through my nose whilst rolling the car window down to get a better view of the house. I was totally and utterly speechless.
You see, my family is very modern, we were always either moving into a newly built house or an extremely nice apartment. But no, I felt like I had been dragged back a few centuries by my long locks. The house looked old but not in a bad way, it had character...I actually liked it.
"Race you!" Luke yelled down my ear. What was with my family and yelling?
I jumped out of the car getting ready to run after the cute little monster that I call my brother when I felt someone staring at me.
I turn around and I was in awe at what I saw. The house opposite my own made ours look like a little dollhouse; it was possibly the largest house that I had ever seen in my life. It couldn't even be called a house, it was that big.
Then I saw him. In front of the stone gate that surrounded the mansion was a man that looked to be in his early twenties. He was tall, muscular and tan. He had shiny, dark brown hair that I just wanted to run my hands through. He had black jeans that hung dangerously low around his waist, and he was completely bare from his waist upwards. I couldn't make out the colour of his eyes and that annoyed me...why would that annoy me?
He was panting as if he had just done some serious exercise; his chest could be seen moving up and down in quite rigid motions even from the distance that I was standing at. I may have been standing there staring for hours or it may have been just a few seconds. That part was unclear.

I don't know what came over me. Males and I are like black and white, like left and right. We're on totally different ends of the spectrum. I don't interact with the opposite sex and they don't interact with me. That's how it's always been so why was I feeling such an attachment to this guy that I hadn't even spoke to, yet alone even met...that I didn't even know.
His eyes were fixed on me and mine on him. I didn't look away until I heard yelling behind me.
"I won Ayanna! I won!" For the third time that day I was put out of my trance by my family.
I hope I don't get whiplash.
