BILLINGTON EMERGENCY SERVICES OFFICE, SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

Investigating Officer(s): Det. M. Codeg, Det. J.D. Hawke

Incident No.: 001673-07-2019

Case Description: (REDACTED)

This is a transcript of a 911 call received by Billington Emergency Services at 7:17 a.m. on Thursday, July 25th, 2019.

Dispatcher: 911, what is your emergency?

Caller: Uh...There’s something weird happening on the road here. Someone should come take a look at this.

Dispatcher: What’s your name, sir?

Caller: Justin Powell, ma’am.

Dispatcher: Okay, Justin, can you tell me what’s happening?

Caller: Uh...it’s really weird. This...wall? Of clouds. Uhm...We were on 85, going north, from New Painswick, but…We had to head back.

Dispatcher: Are you or your companions injured?

Caller: No, ma’am, but there’s...The power lines are down at the clouds, and...I don’t know, it looks really weird.

Dispatcher: Can you describe where this phenomenon is?

Caller: Sure, about 10 miles north of New Painswick, on 85. The clouds looked really thick, I don’t know how safe it is to drive through it, but I didn’t want to wreck or anything.

Dispatcher: So there’s a fogbank across the road-

Caller: No, no, it’s not fog! It’s-(unintelligable) across the road, like, thick ones, and it’s perfectly straight! Never seen anything like it, but it’s not fog!

Dispatcher: Are you still near these “clouds?”

Caller: No, we turned back, cell phone signal ain’t so good out there, we pulled over as soon as there was signal. But someone should check on that, someone tries to drive through it, could be a wreck.

Dispatcher: We’ll send a car down that way to investigate.

Caller: Thank you. Might want to call that camp nearby to see if they’re all right, if the power lines are down they won’t have nothing. Lots of kids there this time of year.

Dispatcher: We’ll follow up on that. Is there anything else to add?

Caller: No, think that’s all. Tell ‘em to hurry, all right? Got a bad feelin’ about it.

Dispatcher: We have a car down that direction, it won’t be long until they arrive. Can I get your phone number before you go in case we need to follow up, sir?

Caller: Sure thing, its (phone number redacted).

Dispatcher: (phone number redacted), correct?

Caller: Yes, ma’am.

Dispatcher: Alright, sir, please keep yourself safe, and we’ll follow up if we have any questions later, alright?

Caller: Sure thing, thanks.

Dispatcher: Thank you, good bye.
