《The Chronicles of Callidiran》Talking is good I think ...

I got a quick overview from the nurse, Ms. Peters. During the two weeks I was meditating, a few million people had gotten themselves killed. The system had created dungeons to allow for ease of leveling and allowed users to summon creatures that were stronger than mobs if they didn’t want to do dungeon runs.
A lot of the people who had survived those had been gamers, their advanced theoretical knowledge helping them survive the beginner dungeons pretty easily. A big majority of the deaths had also come from this group, mostly players who liked to go solo.
After 2 weeks, people had started getting used to the idea of magic existing, although some people still tried to use common sense in situations where it really no longer applied.
In these two weeks, a lot of information about the system had become public, the most important among it being the class system.
Once you hit level ten, you would be offered various class options, these options would depend on your skills, the rarity of your skills, your titles, your traits, your zodiac sign and even your ethnicity, culminating into something uniquely yours.
Even the most common classes were tailored to each person, meaning that nobody was weak once they got their class. Ironically, common classes were rarer than uncommon classes because most people had received skills at the uncommon level such as Schooled or Trained during the system initiation.
The government was trying to keep a grasp on the situation by making sure people would still go to school or work and trying to make sure that society didn’t collapse in general.
Apparently, I’d missed a speech from King Filip about how we Belgians should stand together as a nation.
As she finished explaining, I asked her the time and date and immediately rushed out. She tried to hold me back but it seemed that she’d been gifted more mental than physical stats and high constitution combined with decent strength made me physically superior to most.

This was another thing people would later start noticing, certain stats synergised to create certain effects. For example, high agility with high strength would create stronger blows because physics still applied. If you added high constitution to that, which also increased your weight, you’d become a literal wrecking ball.
But I digress, I rushed to my locker, took out my backpack, and rushed to class. I needed to see if she was safe, and I needed to see if she had listened to my advice.
As I arrived at my classroom, I knocked and nearly broke the door. The door did seem to have already taken considerable damage from other people like me who couldn’t quite control their enhanced bodies.
As I opened the door everybody looked at me in shock. As if I was supposed to be dead, which, for all intents and purposes, I was supposed to be. From what I knew, I hadn’t consumed any water in those two weeks nor had I eaten anything and yet I was moving around like it was nothing.
I ignored that and sat down in the free seat, next to her. Mary looked at me with that judgemental look she always had when I’d done something supremely dumb.
“How are you up, shouldn’t you be in the nurse's office, dying of hunger and thirst or something?”
“My guess, constitution has a lot of uses, one of which allows for less need of water or food.”
She gave me what was supposed to be a soft thump of the shoulder but ended up nearly blowing me out of my chair.
“I feel you’ve been listening to my advice.” I said, softly rubbing my hurt shoulder.
“Jezus, I’m sorry Oscar, I still don’t really know my own strength sometimes. Yeah, I’ve listened. It might surprise you, but I do trust you , especially when it comes to nerdy shit like this. I’ve been grinding experience and skill levels, I’m aiming to get at least one to epic before I check my class options. Seems like I at least got a head start on you.” that last line was dripping with schadenfreude.

I chuckled. “You don’t, I got my mana sense skill to legendary in the time I was in that state. By the way, if the sum of your mental stats exceed 50 …”
“Make sure you let people know that you’re entering meditation. Yeah yeah, people figured that one out pretty fast. The only difference between them and you is that most people who had high intelligence stats did not have your high constitution nor your focus, they left after a few hours.”
“Yeah, I got the Mana Savant trait. Dunno what triggered it though.”
“From what people have been able to figure out, mana sense needs to be among the first skills you buy, your mental stat sum needs to exceed fifty on your first activation causing you to immediately enter meditation and you need to have enough focus to last a week.”
“So basically everything I did on accident …”
“Yeah, basically. I am pretty angry though mister: ‘Make sure to wait on information before doing anything concerning skills.’ You did not wait a second before ignoring your own advice.”
We basically ignored the rest of the class and kept talking. It had been the last class so I said goodbye to Marie and went home. I could have walked a bit with her but then I’d have to interact with her boyfriend and I detested that guy. Wanted nothing more than to see him burn in the bowels of hell.
And not because he was dating Marie, no, he was just a terrible person. I still to this day do not understand what she saw in him. He got his just desserts though so it didn’t matter that much to me.
I arrived home, a house I shared with my brother. Our parents had left a few years ago, I sometimes acted like they hadn't because I still wanted them to return, he’d been old enough to become my guardian and he made enough money to allow us to live decently. Our parents had left us two extra houses which we rented out for some extra constant income.
He had been out of the country when I’d entered the meditation and he was only scheduled to return in another 2 weeks so I was pretty sure he wouldn’t be home.
He had probably asked the school if I was still breathing and if anything seemed wrong with me and decided not to come. He wasn’t a shitty person, he just had a lot of trust in me, enough to know that I wasn’t dumb enough to do anything that I couldn’t undo myself.
As I arrived home, I put down my backpack and decided that I would skip school for now and try to create a perfect build for my class.
I was 18 which meant that I was no longer obligated to go to school, and I would be making full use of it. It shouldn’t take too long anyways seeing as I had enough experience to push myself far.

Tales of the Legendary Scholar
They meet in the most unlikely moment and turned their life around. Freidrech newly arrived in his own nation's capital city, which is so foreign to him compared to his village's idyllic and nondiscriminatory atmosphere, after he is forced to come. Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Little did they know, this boy who Prince Theodrech takes in as his confidant and friend in the most ridiculous fashion is someone indispensable in his life and the one who can help him succeed the throne when he almost believes he has lost.
