Zoe recorded video off and on all the way to Beacon, mostly whenever pretty foliage caught her eye, which was often. The trip had taken longer than Zoe had anticipated since she also stopped to take some pictures. Traffic had been worse than she thought it would have been too, with people stopping to ooh and aww over the foliage. Sometimes they stopped in the middle of the road too!
“Freaking tourists!” Zoe exclaimed as two cars in front of her stopped in the middle of the road and the people got out to point at some trees that had caught their attention more than others.
She started to pass them when her Angel screamed a warning. Zoe stopped and turned her head to look behind her when a white König Automotive Lux SLS blared its horn while streaking past her and the others. One of the gawkers had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by the speeding car. Zoe made sure to activate her video mode and zoomed in on the car as it swerved in and out of traffic before it moved out of her vision’s range.
“At least I got the license information,” Zoe muttered. She turned to see the man that had jumped out of the way screaming at the long-gone car. Zoe shook her head and eased past him and his party. On the one hand, it would have been terrible for him to get run over. On the other hand, maybe he learned a lesson about stopping and pointing at leaves in the middle of the blasted road.

“What a day,” Zoe mused as she exited the Palumbo law firm. She twisted side to side popping her back while thinking the day wasn’t over yet. She then popped her neck. “That feels better.”
Zoe started walking down the street to her GT4 and spotted a familiar white Lux SLS sitting at a stop light. She activated her video recording as the car took off running the red light. Zoe kept walking and followed the car with her eyes as it served into oncoming traffic to avoid a truck that turned onto the street from a side street. The Lux immediately swerved back into the right lane to avoid an oncoming car and crashed into an SUV that just left a restaurant’s parking lot. Her motorcycle was parked in the restaurant’s lot, so Zoe kept recording as the Lux’s driver jumped out of the car and started yelling at the SUV’s driver. A patrol car arrived on the scene by the time Zoe had gotten to the restaurant.

The driver of the Lux looked to be Zoe’s age or just a few years older and was berating the SUV’s driver as well as the cop. The Lux driver had the good looks that Zoe had come to associate with corporate types and the wealthy, which going by his car didn’t surprise her. Zoe idly wondered if his looks were natural or the result of surgery.
“Do you know who I am and more importantly who my father is?” the Lux driver screamed at the cop.
“I’m perfectly aware of who you and your father are, Mr St John,” the officer said.
“Then give that bitch a ticket so I can have our attorneys start the lawsuit,” St John ordered. The cop looked unsure and shook his head.
“I need to make sure the other driver and any passengers she has are uninjured,” the cop said as an ambulance arrived.
“No. You need to do what I tell you to,” St John retorted.
“I should just keep going,” Zoe muttered to herself. “This is none of my business.”
“What are you looking at, you, fucking homeless vagabond?” St John snarled after noticing Zoe watching them. He then sneered at her.
The cop looked from the SUV to St John to Zoe before speaking to her. “Move along ma’am.”
Zoe nodded and started to walk into the parking lot. She sent the video she recorded of the accident to the police network. They could do whatever they wanted with it.
“That’s right skank, listen to your betters and keep going,” St John hissed. Zoe stopped and turned around. “What? You don’t like hearing the truth?”
“Mr St John, calm down,” the officer said.
“Don’t tell me what to do!” St John screeched.
“Um, officer?” Zoe said, trying to get the cop’s attention.
“What is it miss?” he asked after a moment.
“I saw when the Lux ran the red light, swerved into the oncoming lane to pass another vehicle, and swerved back into the correct lane to avoid another car. That’s when he ran into the SUV,” Zoe said.

“You, lying bitch!” St John screamed at Zoe while lurching toward her. Instead of backing down, Zoe reached around to her P750. He suddenly stopped.
“Easy now!” the cop said seeing Zoe’s motion and grabbing St John and gently pushing him back. The spoiled young man pushed the cop and wiped off his expensive clothing. “Push me again, and I’ll haul you in no matter who you are.”
“How dare you?” St John snarled.
“What you did is considered assault,” the cop said. He turned to Zoe, leaving St John fuming. “Do you have proof of what you think you saw?”
“I have video that I sent to the police network, but here you go,” Zoe said sending the cop a request. He accepted it and Zoe sent him the video along with her courier credentials. St John glared at her. Zoe smiled in return, which infuriated him even more.
“Thank you, Ms. Blanco,” the officer said after watching the recording. “I’ll use the video as your statement.”
“Alright,” Zoe replied smoothing her jacket down.
“You are licensed for that firearm, aren’t you?” the cop asked.
“Of course,” Zoe answered sending him a copy of her firearm license. He nodded and dismissed her.
“Mr St John, you might want to call your attorneys now. You’re going to need them, but not for suing Mrs. Lee,” the cop said gesturing to the SUV as Zoe smiled and waved at St John again before turning and walking to her motorcycle.

“Tommy, why did you do it?” Jimmy asked just as soon as he entered Tommy’s office.
“Why did I do what?”
“Why did you sell Zoe’s location to the Purity Church?” Jimmy asked.
“Because they paid well for it,” Tommy laughed. He then sobered. “It’s just biz, Jimmy.”
“You know that’s not true,” Jimmy replied. “You’re still ticked she turned you down.”
“That’s…”
“See,” Jimmy replied.
“Eh, what’s done is done,” Tommy said dismissively.
“But…”
“Not my problem and nor yours,” Tommy replied. “And I don’t appreciate having my decisions questioned either.”
“They’ll kill her!” Jimmy said. Tommy shrugged and Jimmy turned to go.
Tommy jumped up from his chair and slammed his hands onto the desk in front of him. Jimmy turned to face his boss. “You are my employee, Jimmy! I’m the don, not you!”
“I need to go find her,” Jimmy said turning once more and walking to the door.
A loud bang sounded out and Jimmy fell to his knees. Tommy walked around the desk holding his pistol. He pulled the trigger twice more, sending Jimmy face first to the floor. Jimmy’s head turned and he tried to glare at Tommy.
“You’re right Jimmy. I do want revenge and I’m going to get it too,” Tommy gloated. “Sadly, you won’t be around to see it.”
Another shot rang out and Jimmy’s brains splattered the floor.
“Uh, boss?” one of the mafia soldiers said.
“Clean this mess up and dump the body in an alley near his home,” Tommy said returning to his chair and sitting down.

Just a Rock
There was once a writer that felt like creating a story about a rock. A rock so amazing that its story just needed to be told. How amazing? Not amazing at all, on the contrary, quite ordinary. Don't believe me? Then read on. Edit: Resumed the story. Can’t do any more audio versions for now. I plan on editing some of the now non-applicable author notes and maybe rearranging the two side stories or combining them with the deleted chapters.
