《Tippy's Notebook》Witches 101
Advertisement
Hey, Hagen here and I'm here to teach Witches 101 even though I'm not one... I don't know who made that executive decision but we're just going to roll with it.
I'll try to answer all questions as best as I can but they may not be like correct, I usually zone out when they start teaching us about Witches and Warlocks in the pack, so I'm just going to say sorry in advance.
Well, let's just get on with it.
The Species
Witches are one of the original supernatural species on earth, I think they came before Werewolves but don't quote me on that.
The males are called Warlocks and the females are Witches, but clearly the females run that species since most times people just call them Witches.
They reproduce the same as all the others, you get a man and a woman and they get busy between the sheets and make more of their kind.
They're kind of hardasses, like complete assholes for no reason most of the time and it's super annoying cause almost all of them are like unbelievably hot.
Witches are ranked at like the third strongest supernatural species, I'm pretty sure Elves are the strongest and Werewolves are the second. They aren't super fast or super strong, their bodies are just as weak as humans when I think about it. I guess they're just like humans but with magic, the magic is what makes them special.
That's kind of sad...
Anyway, the way their magic works is that they draw energy from one of their, using spells and potions and shit to convert it into magic for their use. It's limited to the knowledge they have and their individual strength.
Their powers are kind of confusing but the type of witch you are is based on the source you can pull from;
Besides their magic, they can see this like wispy, cloud-like trail above every person, showing emotions and species etc through colour. It's only visible to witches and different for each witch, meaning they may not all see the same things or colours, but they pretty much all can tell species from that streak above us all.
I don't really get that colour shit but it's whatever.
1) Earth Witches
These witches pretty much live up to their name and draw from all pieces of nature you can reach.
They mostly use spoken spells or have to actually touch some form of nature to draw from its magic. These are the most favoured type of witches by the rest of the supernatural world because they draw from the earth and not for the other creepy stuff the other two do.
I like to think of them as this world's secret pollutants because even though they claim it's not doing anything to the environment, they literally suck the life from the earth and that sounds harmful to me.
2) Dark Magic Witches
The scariest type of witches out there, according to others but I think Jacob's pretty fucking cute so I don't agree with this belief.
They get a pretty shit rep because they draw from life, doesn't matter the kind, if something is alive they can draw energy from it. It usually ends up with the source their pulling from dead because of it so yeah that understandably scares people. But they don't have to draw from people, they can do plants and be fake Earthly witches, but it gets hard balancing the line between taking a life and just taking power.
They're complicated.
3) Ancestral Witches
These motherfuckers creep me out personally since their best friends are pretty much all dead.
These types of witches are seen as the most powerful because they have special access to their ancestral realm, allowing them to draw energy from all past witches in their coven's or bloodline. The bigger the coven the more power available for their types.
These guys are the biggest dickheads of them all since they are the ones carrying on the will's of their past leaders, the ones who tried to wipe out every species on the planet other than themselves.
The literal definition of assholes.
Anyway, all in all, once you can convert energy into magic you pretty much can do anything as a witch. You just have to learn a spell, figure out how to perform it perfectly and boom, you're basically a wizard.
Most witches stick to the spells from their ancestors' grimoires, few branch out and make their own. There are rare cases where witches don't follow the usual gene pool and differ in some way, those are usually killed before birth or cast out.
Aunty Kat is basically the best of them all that ever lived; she's got access to all three sources, draws from her linker, something else she doesn't like talking about. She's basically a God among men and chooses to use her magic to make kitchen utensils feed her instead of taking over the world which makes her fucking amazing in my books.

Living Status
Witches lifestyle isn't the most pleasant, they are pretty much savages with their values.
They mostly live in covens, they like to keep together for reasons revolving around power rather than a need to be close to their own kind. Covens more times than not are run by Ancestral Witches, that means naturally they prefer covens to expand the borders of their magic.
It's really a tactical play rather than a gene thing, wolves are called to be together naturally, witches not so much.
Covens are basically everywhere, most witches reside there. The ones that don't were either cast out for being different or weak, witches aren't usually the nicest and live that way.
Ranks
Within a cover, the ranking system is pretty obvious and is basically the same across the world.
High Priest/High Priestess
This is the leader of the coven, chosen not by birthright or some sort of voting system, nope. The person who inhabits this role is there because they're the strongest in the entire clan, plain and simple.
They've basically got all control in the coven and don't give up that position until they die or someone stronger comes along and knocks them down. All decisions are passed through them, their word being final and unchallengeable.
High Priests or Priestesses are usually Ancestral Witches.
Council
There is a council of sorts that works under the High Priest/Priestess, chosen by their strengths and used to carry out the will of their leader throughout the coven.
They're nothing special but definitely receive more respect in the coven because of their position.
--
The rest of the coven performs necessary tasks to keep the coven rolling, falling under a hierarchy system based on power which usually leaves Earth Witches at the bottom of the coven.
Linkers are the mates of witches and warlocks.
When a witch meets their other half in the world, they slowly stop drawing from whatever source of power they previously were and start drawing from that other person.
Because of this reason, witches aren't really too fond of finding their linkers - it makes them weaker.
Some say it's a balance created by their Original Witch to limit how strong they can become as a species while other's say it's a curse cast upon the vilest of their kind which is a super fucked up way of looking at it when you think about it.
Most witches don't find their linker, they're not as common as mates are, reason unknown to me. My guess would be that because they kill off their weak or opponents, they end up killing off a shitload of other witches' linkers. But it could also be because they don't really leave their covens, like ever so if you're other half ain't in there, your basically fucked.
Like wolves, when you meet your linker you don't have eyes for anyone else, they become your soul and life. And once you are linked, you feel on another's emotions and pain - skin to skin contact is heavenly, they also allegedly enjoy their scent.
It doesn't matter the age, a witch will know their linker the second they meet them.
This is pretty simple if you break it down like this:
Vampires basically hate all witches for creating them and enslaving them for centuries.
Before recent years, Witches and Werewolves were big enemies that couldn't stand the sight of one another - apparently, the hatred was as deep as the hatred my dads had for one another.
But the recent generations seem to be free of that hatred, especially with more and more packs letting in outcast witches that were kicked out from their covens.
I guess it's cause they both have magic
Elves hate everyone so that's a given, but also witches are super jealous elves are basically the better versions of them in every way... you didn't hear that from me though.
I don't even know why... like that's such a weird combo...
Okay, I think I've gotten out everything I know which I must admit is much more than I realised.
Can I get the Cookies and Creme ice-cream cake you promised now? I didn't even know they made those but fuck me please can I get it now?!

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.
