《Someone Like Adam》59. Marking His Territory

Bare your soul to me
So that I can see
All the wounds in your heart
All the cuts, all the gashes
Bare your soul to me
O honey
Bare your soul to me
So that I can see
All the tears you have shed
All the nights you spent crying
I was completely engrossed in my new song when my eyes inadvertently fell to the window and I found Adam staring at me from his room, leaned against his window.
Did I mention without a shirt on?
I sighed, observing his bulging biceps and his toned chest. Placing the guitar on the couch, I stood up and walked towards the window, all the while drooling at the sight of his abs.
"I thought you find my songs awful." I stated, eyeing him dreamily.
"Oh don't worry. My mind, the sane part of me, still find them awful." he said, smirking at me and I pouted. "It's just my heart is forcing me to listen to your voice, no matter how cringey the lyrics are."
I crossed my arms in front of my chest and rolled my eyes. "I don't know if you are praising me or insulting me."
He laughed before resting his elbows on the window. "Do you want me to come over there and tell you personally?"
I grinned at his words, blushing hard. My cheeks heated as all the moments we spent in the hotel made an appearance in my mind.
"Oh you can come over, if you aren't afraid of dying at a young age." I sarcastically added.
It was almost 11pm, Dad was in the living room doing some office work. I was pretty sure he would castrate Adam if he tried to come into my room at this time in the night.
"Are you challenging me?" he raised his eyebrows and asked. "Because let me tell you princess, I'm not afraid of your Daddy."
"Well. You should be." saying, I closed the curtains and slouched on the couch. Hugging my teddy bear to my chest, I grinned to myself.
He is so cute whenever he isn't his usual arrogant self. His playfulness, his flirting, his teasing, I wish I could capture everything in a jar so that I could use it during his time of the month.
...
After taking a shower and changing into my PJs, I stepped out of the bathroom and yelped when I found him lying on my bed, his arms resting behind his head.

"What are you doing here?" I half-whispered, half-yelled, hiding myself from him so he couldn't see my barbie bottoms. He chuckled as his eyes raked over the shocking pink tank top and the shorts with barbie faces printed on it.
"Dad gifted me these." I said in embarrassment, walking towards the bed. "I would never buy something like that."
"They are cute." he said, still grinning at me.
"Shut up." I scoffed. He had already made himself comfortable on my bed so I sat down on the couch and crossed my legs.
"How did you come inside?" I asked and then found the answer when I looked at the window of my room.
"Oh my God! Are you insane? You could have fallen down." I glared at him.
He hopped out of the bed and walked towards me, flopping down beside me and pulling me closer. "It was worth a try."
The same giddy feeling returned to my stomach and I smiled.
"OK so you won the challenge. Now go so I can sleep." I said, pulling away from him to comb my hair.
"I am not going anywhere." he said, standing up and then jumped once again on my bed.
"What do you mean you aren't going anywhere?" I asked in confusion while untangling the knots in my hair.
"I said I am spending the night with you." he said casually and I gulped, realizing what he meant by sleeping together.
"I am not shagging you with my Dad downstairs." I said despite the fact that the thought created a tingling in between my legs.
"Who said anything about shagging?" he said, his smirk widening as I flushed in embarrassment. "You have a very dirty mind Alicia."
Fuck.
"I.. I.. Um.. I.." I tried to find the words but failed. At the end, I picked up a spare pillow from the couch and chucked it towards Adam.
"Jerk." I muttered and walked past him to turn the light off. Then I lay down beside him and turned my back to him, giving him the idea that I was mad at him.
After a minute, his hand snaked around me and he pulled me back towards his chest, hiding his face in the crook of my neck. The familiar butterflies reappeared in my stomach and I fought the smile threatening to appear on my lips.

"Good night." he mumbled, his breaths caressing the sensitive skin of my neck, creating shivers down my spins.
"Good night." I replied, finally giving in.
...
With my hands laced with Emily, I entered the literature class and my eyes looked around for him, only to find him scribbling something on his notebook.
Shaking my head at him, I sat down beside Emily and waited for Mrs. Cooper to arrive.
I was talking with Emily about our upcoming exams when my phone buzzed. Unlocking the screen, I checked the text from Adam.
I slept great last night. <3
I tried to fight the blush that was crawling up my neck but all in vain. By the heat in my cheeks, I was sure I must be looking like a tomato. Hiding my phone from Emily's gaze, I replied.
Me too. <3
When I woke up this morning, he was gone but the warmth in my bed was still there. The whole night, he kept on pulling me closer to him, his scent invading my senses, urging me to turn around and kiss the hell out of him.
"Are you alright?" Emily asked, assessing my face with her big, blue eyes.
"Um.. Uh.. Yeah." I stuttered, afraid of telling her about Adam for some unknown reason.
She nodded, turning her attention to the board. Now that I noticed, her eyes looked puffy and her cheeks sunken. There were huge dark circles under her eyes, even her hair was not pinned properly like she always did.
"Did you sleep well last night?" I asked, leaning towards her.
"Y.. Yeah." she shrugged, getting uncomfortable all of sudden.
"You are lying. Aren't you?" I asked, cocking my head sidewards.
She nodded and then bit her lips nervously. "It's just.. Damien.."
"What about him? Is he treating you right?" I grew anxious all of sudden.
"Yes. He is great." she answered. "It's Justin I'm worried about. He is behaving odd, acting worried about me that Damien is not the right guy for me."
Damn you, Justin.
"He is just jealous Em because he didn't have guts to treat you nice and now, he has lost you forever." I told her and patted her arms.
She looked lost in her thoughts for a moment, playing with the hem of shirt nervously. "Yeah, you are right." she said, turning her attention back to the notebook.
...
After the Biology class, I was trudging towards the cafeteria when I heard footsteps behind me. Angling my neck, I found Adam walking behind me. Due to his fast pace, he was soon beside me, his fingers touching mine gently.
"Hi." I whispered.
"Hi." he whispered back.
We kept some distance between us, not wanting to look unusual or weird. As I stepped inside the cafeteria, Noah subtly walked past me to the other side without even looking at me.
"That's new." Adam whispered from my side, looking at him with confusion.
"Yeah. He's probably still angry at me for not returning his kiss." I said, feeling sad at his behavior. Although I didn't reciprocate his feelings, I considered him my friends and watching him not acknowledging me, it hurts.
Adam stopped in his tracks, his face contorted in anger at my words. "He kissed you?" he asked, chewing his words.
I gulped, contemplating what to say.
"Yes?" I said, more like asked, afraid of his reaction.
My eyes widened when the next moment his arms snaked around me.
"What are you doing?" I asked nervously, watching as he leaned towards me.
"Marking my territory." he said and the next minute, he placed his lips on mine. Slowly angling my neck, he deepened the kiss, tracing each contour of my mouth with his delicious tongue. For a moment, I forgot I was in a school cafeteria and took my time to return his kiss, sucking his lips and biting his tongue.
I broke the kiss when I realized where I was. Embarrassed, I looked around, my eyes met with Sophia and Emily watching us with their mouth wide open. All the other students were gaping at us with surprise, confusion and awe, probably wondering how I managed to steal Mr. Cold's attention.
Noah was also watching us from the other corner of the canteen, a pained expression on his face. A wave of guilt enveloped me when he threw the juice can in his hands into the dustbin and darted out of the cafeteria.

This is probably your cup of tea. Long term progression with a heavy slice of life element. Strong mix and inclusion of ancient Greek life, values, and myths. Hence, the world can be a bit more harsh and brutish than modern sensibilities. The system is tangible and knowable beyond the MC's insights.
