Sandra: no not really

(2)Sandra: I explained to them that you didn't even step foot inside the house and that you only wanted to get some notes back.

What my parents did want though was to meet Kevin. Specifically my mom. Raina made sure they got the hint that he was something other than my friend and after the longest conversation of my life I had convince them that he was just a friend.

My mom didn't buy it. My dad took my phone away which was absolutely stupid but it seemed he had no other resort since I rarely ever get in trouble. Him taking my phone- and my laptop- away for the weekend resided in me not talking to Kevin about what happened until now.

Sandra: I didn't have the heart to tbh

Sandra: yeah, yeah, now shut up and let me focus

I slid my phone back in my pocket, trying to finish the work my teacher left out for us when I heard my phone buzz again, an impulse telling me to check it again.

I did.

Sandra: no it's okay

(2)Sandra: Plus I knew Raina would have pegged me for something else

Sandra: shut up

Sandra: pay attention in class

Sandra: Me and you both

Sandra: why

Sandra: how tf do you know that

Sandra: yeah

I stared at my phone screen for a second. I looked up to the front of the class. While everyone was talking or finishing up the assignment that was due tomorrow, the supply teacher, who was a guy by the way, was tapping away at his phone.

I reread Kevin's text, making a face.

Sandra: Lady emergencies?

I rolled my eyes, putting my stuff in my bag before slinging my backpack on. Kevin's lucky I took drama.

Five minutes later, I found Kevin in the caf, sitting on a table. There was like ten other people in here as well, spread out probably on a spare.

He grinned when he spotted me slipping his phone in his pocket. That's one thing I noticed. He never had his phone out usually when we were talking that it was now I realized what phone type he had.

"Hi there." He said, arms gesturing for me to give him a hug and I complied, stepping between his legs.

I've hugged Kevin-correction, he's hugged me enough for me to notice when he smells differently. "New cologne?"

He smirked. "You noticed?"

I pulled away and gave him a look, ignoring the expression on his face. How did you get out of class?"

"I said I was taking a walk since we're not doing anything but I never said how long my walk would be."

"Smart."

"Hayden's bringing my stuff after too," Kevin pulled up a chair for me to sit on in front of him and I did so, dropping my bag on the table. "So."

"So." I repeated, wondering where he was going with this.

"What do you want to talk about?"

I laughed, the sounds muffled by my fist. "You're kidding?"

"No," Kevin joined me in laughter, taking a small tomato from my lunch and plopping it into his mouth. "I dropped so hard on the court that day. I never felt so embarrassed in my life."

"You were twelve." I stated, taking a tomato and leaning back to toss it to him like I've been doing for the past twenty minutes. He caught it in his mouth easily.

"Doesn't matter. Everyone brings it up when they have the chance too. Now, tell me what was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you that you can think of?"

I sucked in air with clenched teeth, cringing at what I was already thinking. "Oh, okay. So last year I was in that play for drama class remember?"

"Oh, yeah! I didn't get to watch 'cause I had a ball game. What was so embarrassing about a play?"

I laved my fingers, leaning back in my chair. "There's a reason why I don't take drama anymore."

Kevin froze mid-way of eating a cucumber. "What happened?"

"I forgot my lines, froze and then ran off the stage."

"What? That was you?" Kevin exclaimed. I nodded and I could see he was trying not to laugh before looking at me. "I'm, uh, sure it wasn't that bad."

"It was bad. Really bad."

"S, it wasn't that bad."

"Kevin. It was bad."

The bell rang and I watched people scatter and start to go to their classes. I got up, putting my stuff in my bag when Kevin slid over to me. "It wasn't that bad. I'm sure people weren't talking about it."

"I heard people talking about it for weeks." I told him. That was probably how he found out.

"Babe, are they talking about it now?"

I slung my bag over my shoulders. "Well...no."

"Then there you go. People remember one thing then forget about it when something else comes around."

"I don't care. It was still bad." I mumbled.

He grasped me into a hug, whispering in my ear. "It wasn't that bad, okay?"

I stayed in his arms, not finding the need to move and rested my head on his shoulder. "Fine."

"That's my girl." He teased.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." I grumbled.

"Oh Sandra." I angled myself to at Amelia and she had her arms crossed, smiling at me in the weirdest way possible.

"Yes?"

"Are we going to walk to class together or are you going to let your boyfriend drop you off?"

This girl.

I let myself go from Kevin's embrace when he asked in a smug tone. "Boyfriend?"

"You," I poked him in the chest. "Shut up."

I started walking over to Amelia when he called out. "I'll see you after school?"

"You have practice remember?"

"You know my schedule?" He asked.

I signed. "Bye Kevin."

"I'll text you."

"Of course you will." I linked arms with Amelia as we walked out of the cafeteria.

She looked at me. "You know his schedule?"

"Oh shut up."
