When Josie spots one of the cutest guys she's ever laid eyes on she immediately wants him to notice her. The only problem is that she's reserved when it comes to new people.

But since it's the day after New Year's Eve, she quickly makes it a resolution - she will talk with him before the year ends.

It takes her 364 days to follow through with the promise but she's overwhelmed with excitement once she does, because it appears he's had his eyes on her too.

At first he didn't glance up when she stopped next to his table, finally able to take a closer peek at his computer screen. An entire page filled with simple text, paragraphs brimming with tiny words. Words she was too nervous to make any sense of in that moment. Words she desperately wished would be coming from her mouth.

It was then she noticed he had his earbuds in, the faint sound of music pouring out from them. She contemplated turning around and go back, throw the note away and never return. But like he was able to sense her hesitation, his head snapped up and their eyes met for the first time in 364 days.

A small gasp fell from her lips, her tongue felt twisted as she opened and closed her mouth, fighting to come up with something decent to say. Anything would do by now, judging from his questioning stare.

At least he didn't look aghast at the sight of her.

And then he smiled. He smiled so brightly that she was sure the snow outside would melt away if it caught a glimpse of it.

Josie nervously thumbed her note before hurriedly thrusting it towards him. "Hi, here. It's my number, in case you couldn't figure that out. Which you probably would have."

The boy dipped his eyes down to the note before looking back up at her again, starting to pull the earphones out. "What?"

His deep voice sent a pleasant shiver down the length of her spine but unfortunately she was too stressed to appreciate it. She let the note drop on the keyboard of his laptop and then she abruptly turned, making a beeline towards the entrance without repeating her clumsy words. Without turning around to see if he was shaking his head at the scatterbrained girl who had approached him with red cheeks and a rigid posture.
