Most likely, it is one the Black Swan chose.
In Nightfall, when Sophie, Linh, and Keefe were saving Atlantis, Sophie felt the pull of the water.
It might have been a small breakthrough.
Before that, when they were on the boat to King Dimitar, Sophie was able to walk normally on the boat.
Normally, she is very clumsy and can barely walk on her own.
It could mean that the water is telling her how to move.
