Mark places the ladder up against the shack and proceeds to climb up to the roof. He finds a comfortable position with a perfect vision at the night sky and then he heaves a long sigh.
His eyes travel over the stars as they start to appear one after another. The sight is as alluring as always, wanting Mark to stay and watch forever. The boy smiles and plugs in his earphones, putting one of his playlists on shuffle. He loves listening to calm music when stargazing.
After skipping through a few songs to find the right one, he puts his phone away and switches his gaze back to the sky. His eyes travel around for a while until he finds the spot he was looking after, a smile blooming from his lips.
"Hi my little star," Mark whispers as he stares fondly at his favorite star that seems to shine so much brighter than the rest. Weirdly enough, when he went stargazing with Renjun a few weeks ago, the latter couldn't see the star.
It's like Mark's star is only shining for him and no one else.
Like only Mark is supposed to see it.
Mark feels safe looking at it, and sometimes when he's sad it can even make him feel happy.
Around this time last year, he remembers not being able to find it. Whenever he thinks about that day, he has this weird memory that he heard the star talking. Like it had joined him on the roof instead of staying on the sky. And this sentence, this one sentence, just won't leave him alone.
"Stars are made by angels."
Mark wonders why specifically that sentence keeps visiting him. He knows he's heard it from somewhere, but there's no voice or place he associates it with. It's like it has just come to him out of the blue. It means something, he knows that, just not what.

Mark walks down the snowy streets.
Christmas was a few days ago and he got some money he wants to spend on a book he's been wanting to buy for a while. He's not too familiar with the city yet as he doesn't visit often. Jeno lives a little outside of centrum, so in school days they mainly take the bus home, instead of walking through the city.
Jeno told him about an art and book store close by, so that's where he's headed to.
It doesn't take long before he reaches it and enters. He walks straight to the books and starts looking through them to see if they have the book he wants to buy. Mark smiles as his eyes catch a glimpse a familiar orange book a few meters away. He darts over to it and picks it up to make sure it's the right one.
It is, so he turns around to walk towards the cashier.
But as he takes his first step, he stops, a person standing before him.
Just looking at the person causes Mark to drop the book out of his hands. That famous grin, the fluffy brown hair and the beautiful skin.
Mark remembers it all.
The touch, the laugh, the feeling.
"Haechan?"
"Hi, Mark," Haechan smiles. "Miss me?"
Mark stands with mouth agape, tears escaping his eyes, the erge to embrace the boy in front of him growing.
Mark reaches out to touch Haechan, but the moment he does, the younger starts fading away, his hands disappearing first, then his legs, his torso and his face. And as Haechan starts to fade away, the book store does too, the city, the orange book and the cashier.
And all that's left is Mark, out in nothing but a dark and black world.
"Haechan!?" he screams, the dark world consuming him. "Haechan where are you!?"
Mark wakes up in cold sweat.
Haecha-
"Mark? Are you okay?" Jeno comes into the room, having been woken up by Mark screaming.
"I had a nightmare," the older mumbles and wipes away his tears.
Jeno walks further into the room. "What was it about?" he asks and sits on the edge of Mark's bed.
Mark thinks for a moment. "I don't remember..."

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
