《Text Me》Trouble in NYC

Alec was not in the practice of answering phone calls at work. He has a tendency to leave his phone in his locker until his break, or plug it up in the staff room, but today was different. Alec had hoped Stiles would send him a text asking for coffee again or maybe take out. What happened instead made his blood run cold.
Alec's phone began vibrating exactly at two o'clock. He was with a regular client named Maranda who had a knee problem and was recommended to work out by an article on the Internet. So far her knee only hurts her more. Maranda was in the middle of doing an ab workout that consisted of butterfly kicks, toe touches, bicycles, and Russian twist.
With a, "Keep up the good work I'll be right back," Alec headed into the staff room. The number flashing across his screen belonged to Stiles and a smile lit up his whole face.
"Hey," He said slightly breathlessly, having nothing to do with working out and everything to do with who he thought was on the other line.
"Hello is this Alec?" The person who was most defiantly not Stiles Stilinski asked.
"Yeah who is this?" Alec shot back.
The temperature in the staff room seemed to drop as Alec stood still waiting on a reply.
"My name is Daniel, I'm a receptionist at Clear View Hospital here in New York City. I have been trying to get a hold of someone for Mr. Stilinski. I called a young girl, Lydia, because she is listed as his emergency contact and she told me to call you. Mr. Stilinski was in an accident and has been admitted into the ICU. Would you mind coming up here and filling out a few things along with helping us contact his parents?"

The room began spinning for Alec as the man on the other end finished speaking. Questions rushed out of Alec's mouth before he even knew what he was asking, concern taking over his actions. His sentences began to rushed together and Daniel asked him to please hurry.
Hanging up the phone Alec dashed to his boss's office and entered without knocking.
Angelica took in Alec's crazy eyes and quick breathing with a swoop of the eye.
The words rolled of Alec's tongue before his mind had time to process them, "My boyfriend is in the hospital I have to go. Get Sam to cover my client."
A gasp left Angelica's lips as her eyes widened. "Go go give Magnus my best." Without taking the time to correct her Alec left, the door swinging behind him.
Cars zipped by splashing water on to the sidewalks as Alec stood watching the world go on. Rain began to soak through his skin, seeping into his bones as he hailed a cab.
The dash through the hospital took the breath out of poor, fit Alec. His feet smashed into the ground leaving a slick wap sound as he went. The nurse down stairs had told him the room number, and Alec was having trouble finding it. He had to find Stiles, he just had to.
Who other than Stiles Stilinski would get hurt on a collage tour trip? The irony was killing Alec as he finally found the room number.
Nurses rushed around behind him dealing with other patients as Alec gripped the handle. He could do this. He was literally the only one who could be there for Stiles right now. He had to do this.
Pushing open the door Alec saw an unconscious man wrapped in casts with tubes sticking in and out of him. He felt sick. Why Stiles? Why did this happen to Stiles?

He didn't know but the very idea of him being hurt, hurt him more than words could explain. Alec sat at the side of the bed just staring.
Stiles head was wrapped, his face mostly covered up by bandages. His chest rose and fell with the noise of the breathing machine to his left.
Alec's heart sank as tears began to well in his eyes. Poor, little, spastic Stiles didn't deserve this.
"Sir," a voice said breaking the silence as a tear fell from Alec's eye, "You can't be in here."
"This is my boyfriend." Alec said, his voice cracking.
"Are you sure?" The women asked as she pulled the chart. "This is a John Doe we got in last week. Trauma to the cranium, vertebrae, and internal organs. He's been on the ventilator since he came in. We really need to contact his family if at all possible to do any further treatment. He went in for an emergency-"
"Last week? Stiles just came in today, Stilinski. Stiles Stilinski."
"Dark hair and a breath taking smile?" The nurse asked.
"Definitely." Alec said breathlessly.
This wasn't Stiles. Stiles was okay. Stiles was alive. This wasn't Stiles.
"Come with me, I know the room." She said as she set the chart back in its slot outside the door.
Alec stood up so quick his chair slide out behind him with a loud screech. Whipping a few stray tears he followed the nurse down the hallway.
"He's still up here in the ICU because we just haven't gotten around to moving him down stairs to surgery. If I'm going to be honest with you though we just really enjoy having him here."
"Sounds like Stiles." Alec spoke, his foot steps taping in sound to hers.
They rounded a corner and the nurse pulled another chart from the wall.
"Stilinski, Mieczyslaw." She opened the door, and in the bed laid a very awake, and alive Stiles Stilinski.
"Stiles!" Alec yelled rushing to his side. "I was so worried and the nurse told me the wrong room and he was on a ventilator and I thought it was you and you're so fine I mean you're fine as in your okay but I mean I'm just im I'm glad your okay."
The words rushed out of Alec's mouth as Stiles stared at him amused.
"I'm sorry. My name is Mieczyslaw, I don't know a Stiles. They said I would start to remember things soon but I don't know who you are. You must be Stiles boyfriend if you're acting like this." Stiles said moving as little as he could in his neck brace.
"You don't remember?" Alec asked, his heart plummeting threw his chest and into the floor.
"I'm kidding. Hi Alec how are you, I'm in a hospital bed surrounded by pretty nurses, and I can't move very much."
Alec let out a breath and gave Stiles a hard look.
"I hate you."
"I hate you too. Now tell me, what are we gonna do when I get discharged?"

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
