"Go, don't stop driving until you're far away from New York."
19 hours
That's how long Aubrey drove, only stopping for food, coffee and gas. When her dad told her to get far away from New York, that's what she did. She wouldn't look back.
She was afraid.
She knew what happened after her parents sent her off, and she also knew it wasn't pretty. She wondered what he meant by "Never end up with a man like me" In her eyes her father was perfect, he loved Aubrey, and her mother. Never put them second to anything.
In their family safe held millions of dollars. Her father Unique spent her whole life putting money in that safe. She couldn't figure out why until... now.
"Miami" she whispered lowly, a smile formed on her face. Her dream to live in Miami was coming true. Looking around at her surroundings the traffic was equally as bad as New York's traffic and she knew she could handle it.
She would begin her life tomorrow, starting with searching for a new apartment, and a job, the money from her parents would go in a bank account. Her License, birth certificate and Social Security number all stated a new name she was no longer Malaysia Renee Sanchez but Aubrey Renee Thomas.
She smiled knowing her mother picked the name.
This was her new life.
"Your name is Aubrey, you're 21 and this is your new life."
"Y'all niggas trying me as if I won't blow y'all fucking head off." East leaned back in his seat rubbing his hands over his face.
This wasn't East plan in life, and wasn't what he wanted. He fell in love with the money and power, he learned to shape it into his life.
East was once a college boy, on a scholarship to play basketball, he was going to make it to the NBA one day and his moms was going to be by his side every step of the way.

During his Sophomore year of college, his father was shot cold blooded in the Miami streets. So he was told... Like most niggas in Spanish Harlem, East, he didn't know his father, and by 15 he learned to accept it and put his hurt into Basketball.
"I take shit personal when you taking money from my pockets." His hand fell on the gun in his lap. He wasn't going to use it, he couldn't get his money if they was dead.
.
The first time he'd seen his father was at the funeral his mother dragged him to. Thankfully she did. After the burial, he met Jay, he noticed him earlier, staring Dave down like a hawk, making Dave size him up a couple times. "What's up? I'm Mase's—" clearing his throat "I'm David sr. Partner. I have an important message, Dave wanted me to tell you if he was ever killed." Dave nodded his head, indicating he was listening.
"Your father was the King of Florida, Miami was his main territory. He wanted nothing more than for you to take over after his death. I will teach you everything Mase and I know, I will be the first to tell you, College won't be an option. There's a safe with money 5 mill the least, but you only get the code if you agree to my offer." Dave was confused, and had to make decisions; he made it faster than Jay thought. He looked at all angles, his mother was barely making it, and he did want to be in the NBA one day, he just didn't want the schooling that came with it.
"Valid, you dead ass finna train me cause the only shit I know how to shoot is a ball" Dave looked up at him, his thick brow raised.

"I'm dead ass finna train you" Jay mocked, walking towards his BMW.
"Main rule, there ain't no love in this game. That shit does nothing but get you 6 feet under"
This was his new life.
"New life, New alias. Imma go with..."
"East"

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?

Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
