The first thing that woke me up was my stomach. It was grumbling like a bear, because I hadn't had anything since lunch. I groaned and sat up, clutching it. It was hurting, making me feel as if I was about to cramp up.
"Morning" something said, jumping onto my bed. It was big, and it was black, with teeth and two eyes, staring at me.
"Ah!" I exclaimed, falling out of my bed, with the covers tangling around my legs. My heart was pounding, because I didn't know what it was. I felt if I was going to have a heart attack, because I couldn't remember what had happened. My whole body was tense, waiting for it to come down and attack me.
"Was that a nice trip?" the voice said, while it's face looked over my bed, still grinning. It was my dog, well, Guide. His ears were pricked, and he had a grin on his face, showing his sharp teeth.
"CODY!" I exclaimed, as I struggled to get out of the covers. I could feel the blood rushing from my head, back to my body. My whole body relaxed instantly, because I knew who the dog was. I knew that he wasn't going to hurt me, because he was my Guide, and he was supposed to help me with whatever I had to do.
"At your service." He stood on the bed and bowed, towards me. His tail was still, while he stood up and looked at me. "That is my name, is it not?"
I glared at him, a blush on my face. My nostrils flared, because I really didn't know it was him. I just thought that it was something else, and it was going to hurt me. "Don't do that ever again. You almost gave me a heart attack!"

He fell onto the floor and started to doggie laugh at me, wiggling around. His tail was thumping on the floor, because he was just really happy about it. "You should've seen your face."
I rolled my eyes at him and stood up, finally able to get out of the blankets. I bent down and grabbed my sheets, starting to make my bed. I was glad he had gotten off, because I would've had to push him off. "It doesn't matter. Next time, don't do that."
"I scared you."
I rolled my eyes and got ready for school, not caring that he was watching me. I pulled a brush through my hair, after I had finished getting ready. "Yes, you did scare me. I thought you were something else that was going to hurt me. And 'sides in that state of not awakeness, I didn't remember much of last night."
He sat up and looked at me, grinning, while I pulled on my boots. "Come on. Admit that it was funny."
I rolled my eyes and walked out the door. "It was kind of funny," I mumbled, grinning at him.
He grinned, at me before following me out of my room. His tail was wagging, while he walked beside me. Every so often, he would rub himself against me, as if to say that he was there for me.
I smiled a little, because I finally had someone that I could talk to at home. I finally had a dog, which I had wanted for over ten years. My wish finally came true, even though Dad wasn't the one that had gotten him for me.
However, it was still a dog, even though he looked like a miniature sized bear.
