"Uh, there is just a wall here," I said, gesturing to the wall, where he lead me. We were standing at the back of the building, him on my left side. I looked at him, frowning. Why did he make us come over here if there was just a wall? I mean, there couldn't be anything else, could there? "It's just a plain old wall."

"Look closely, My Dear Girl," he said, glancing down at me, from his 6'4 form. His brown eyes were filled with excitement, as if he couldn't wait to see what I could do. There was a smile on his face, but it was hidden underneath his beard. "You will be able to find it. You can trust me on that."

"What is this all about, and why does this have to involve me?"I asked, annoyed and wanting answers. I folded my arms across my chest and glared at him, wanting to have my questions answered.

"Just look at the wall," he said, getting annoyed with me. He looked at me and scowled, folding his arms across his chest, mimicking me. "Your questions will be answered later, but they won't be answered until you complete with what you have to do, to prove yourself. So, my advice is to get to it."

I growled and looked at the wall, angrily. My advice is to get to it, my ass, I thought, narrowing my eyes. I couldn't help but huff, because I was that annoyed with him.

It was instinct, I guess, 'cause I looked at the wall, like he had said. My eyes seemed to trace a door that was hidden in it. The bricks on the building didn't seem to add up, so that was why there was a door there.

"Good, you found the door. Now, open it," Michael said. His voice sounded distant in my mind, because I was concentrating on the door. There was a bit of pride in his voice, because some people might've taken longer than me to find it.

My right hand went up and closed into a fist, on instinct. Power filled my body, and I didn't know where it was coming from. "Lihono," I mumbled, not knowing how the word came to me, but it did. It was as if everything that I had done was on instinct, like it had been passed down to me from someone else.

The door opened and showed a dark area. Warning bells rang in my head as I started to tense up. My father's words echoed in my brain. I knew that he meant well to lead me to Michael, but he did say for me to stay away from the shadows. It was not a good place for me.

"Your next test is to see how well you have the courage to stand up to your fears." He gestured to the blackness. "So, you have to go into the dark room and see what there is to fear. You have to face them."

I looked at him, frowning. My heart pounded, nervously because my father's words still echoed in my brain. "But Dad said-"

"I know what your father had said to you. That is why it's your choice on this matter. Will you go by your father's rules, or will you try your own strength? You never know, you might surprise yourself on what you can do."

I looked at him, at the parking lot, then at the door, leading to the unknown. I knew what I had to do, and I was going to hate myself for it. However, I was going to do it anyways, because I did want to test out my own strength.

I reached up and pulled at my ponytail, making sure that it was tight. I looked at him and nodded, showing to him that I was ready to do whatever tests that had been planned for me. "Alright, I'm ready," I said. "However, if my dad gets angry at me, then it's your ass that has to deal with him. Not mine."

Michael grinned and nodded. He looked as if weight had been lifted off of his shoulders, because I had agreed to do whatever he needed me to do. I could feel a small bit of pride coming off of him, but that might be just because I had said what I had said. "I understand, and I will talk to him, when we see each other, again." He stepped back, trying to hide a frown that was on his face. He was letting me have room, for whatever I was planning on doing. He gestured towards the door and nodded his head, again. "Now, begin."

I looked at the sun for maybe my last time, feeling slightly guilty. "I'm sorry, Dad, but... I got to prove myself that I have the courage... to do anything." And with that, I walked into the room... hopefully not towards my death.
