《A Trip In Time》Chapter 6

Philip had left over an hour ago and I was still trying to figure out where I wanted to put everything and remember where it would be. I had added my personal books to the books that were already on the book shelves. I couldn't believe he had remembered all my favorite books because I had never had someone do something this nice for me.

My parents were still with the King and Queen, my mom wanted to help me but I wanted to be alone unpacking all of this but having my space to think everything through was helpful for me. I didn't know where to put the rest of my items so I left them in the trunk and moved on to my clothes. I walked over to the wardrobe and opened it up and it was twice the size of the one back home and I didn't think I would have enough dresses to even make a dent in this. I finished hanging my dresses and shut the door to the wardrobe. I knew I had all my small items I brought with me left but it almost felt safe keeping them in the trunk because that meant I wasn't fully moved in and I could leave at any minute. My thoughts were interrupted when there was a knock on the door. I set my favorite blanket on the bed and walked to the door, I didn't know for sure who would be on the other side when I opened the door.

"I am surprised to see you. I thought you would still be mad at me."

"I am but I am also excited that you are moving into the castle. I will be mad once again after I am done seeing how you are."

I smiled at Elizabeth even if she was mad at me she didn't stay long or she would pause the being upset and then pick it up again. That was one of the many reasons I loved having her in my life even if some of those times she was upset with me because of something I didn't fully have control with.

"I am doing fine. I have only a few little things left but that is all."

I moved to the side of the door to let her come into my room. I didn't want to be rude and keep her in the hall and it would be strange to continue this conversation where others could hear us if they wanted too.

"It is weird being on this side of the castle because when I would hang out with you it would be far away from here. We never really came over here with wanting to stay away from Philip."

"I tried to give you the room down from mine but Philip was pig headed that you must stay over here so he can win you over. I don't know how being near my room would prevent him from doing that."

"He told me if I was near you then I wouldn't be hanging out with him I would be with you all the time and I wouldn't be getting to know him like I should be doing."

She just shook her head but we both knew that it was true, if I was near her then I would never be hanging out with Philip and the whole point for me coming here was to give him a chance. I sat down on the lounge in the room and Elizabeth started going through my trunk of all my little items. She started to put things on shelves and different places within the room. It was better that she did it because she didn't have any reservations about me being here she knew that she wanted me to be here and maybe she had a different point of view with how to decorate things.

Elizabeth was still going around the room putting items where she thought they would be perfect. While putting items away Elizabeth continued to talk about a story of some Duke and his family. I wasn't really paying attention and I knew at the right moments to say something to make it look like I was listening to everything she said. She was in the middle or end I wasn't completely sure of the story when there was a knock on the door. I went over to the door to open to see who it was and to get a little break from the story.

"Good evening. I wanted to check in on how everything was going."

I smiled and moved to the side to let Philip into the room. He gave a little smirk and shook his head when he saw his sister was in my room. This right here proved why we needed distance between Elizabeth and myself, she would be around all the time.

"She is helping me unpack. She just seems to know where to put things that I would have no idea. "

"That is why I fought to have you put in this wing of the castle. I know how my sister is and even if she was mad she would still find a way to hang out and be around you all the time."

"Oh stop Philip. You know that no matter where you put her in this castle I will always be hanging out with her. You will just need to get use to having me around."

"Philip you know that Elizabeth and I have been friends since I moved here. She was the first person that opened up and let me in when I got here."

"I know and I am sorry that I wasn't the one that opened up first and I know things would be a lot different if I did."

"I know things could have been different but let's not focus on that. We are starting over and I promise I will try not to bring up the past."

"I want to say thank you. I know that you don't believe me but it gives me hope that we could be something more."

"I should head back to our parents. They are all talking about what our future will hold and I don't want to leave them alone for too long. I will leave you two to unpacking but remember dinner will be ready within the hour. Elizabeth you know how mother gets when people are late to dinner."

"We are almost done. We won't be late."

He nodded then headed out of the room and a part of me was saying that Elizabeth would find a way to push the boundaries until we were almost late. I didn't want to be on anyone's bad side so I made my way over to the trunk and saw nothing else was left inside.I knew this would be a good point to head down to everyone else.

"We should head down to our parents."

"I know but I don't want to hear them all talking about how you and Philip will be married and all the great things that will come to our kingdom for it."

"Elizabeth I am sorry I didn't know that you felt this way."

"No one really knows. My parents have been talking about finding me a husband and with this husband I will be leaving the castle. I will be without my family and alone because it is what will need to be done for the country."

I could see the worry in her eyes. I never thought about what she would have to do. She would need to leave home when her marriage would become a negotiation just like mine did but hers would be on a greater scale to bring another kingdom together with ours.

"Elizabeth I will always be here for you no matter where we are."

We closed the trunks and made out way to the door. It didn't take long to find everyone in the sitting room. We were early which was nice when it came to making sure that Elizabeth was on time for once and not having to see the fight that could possibly happen.

**********************************************************************

Dinner was over in no time and I knew that I would be saying good bye to my parents for awhile. I wasn't far from home but it was a new experience for me which was something I was going to do on my own. We were all standing at the main door with my parents. My parents said goodbye to everyone and then they left in their carriage. As we watched the carriage pulling away Elizabeth gave me a little pat on the back which was nice because with us both being girls we understood that we would have to leave everything to be with a man that our parents found for us. It was just nice that mine would be close to home and I wouldn't be going into a new country and I did feel a little sorry because with her being a Princess she could go anywhere to benefit her kingdom. It took me a few minutes before I turned around to walk away from the door. Everyone was looking at me and I was trying to figure out what to say. This was the first time in my life that I wouldn't be living in the same home as my parents.

"Are you okay?"

I looked up to see that Philip was a little concerned. Which I wasn't sure if it was because of how my face looks or he fully understood where I was coming from. I gave a little smile to him to let him know nothing serious is going on.

"Yes I am. It is just a little nerve wrecking to be without them but it is fine I will be okay in the end."

"Lily darling please know that I will be here as a mother for you as well."

"Thank you your highness I will remember that."

"Darling you don't need to call me highness after all we are going to be family one day. You can call me Catherine or mother."

I smiled at her but it was going to be strange for me to not follow all the protocols that I have had my whole life. Being taught to do something since birth can be so hard to change but she had requested it and it would be a dishonor to not listen to her.

"Lily I know you will feel like you are doing something wrong but we are letting you know we see you as another daughter and we want you to treat us like another set of parents. We are here to guide and teach you so please let us."

I just shook my head in agreement because I was afraid that if I did talk I was going to break down and cry. It felt like Philip could tell something was wrong. He came up and wrapped an arm around me and I felt a little safer when he did this.

"Do you want me to walk you to your room?"

I nodded again because I didn't want to crack in front of everyone. They were all happy that I was here but I was still feeling a little out of place. Philip started to led me towards the stairs which was taking a little pressure away from me. I felt stupid for acting like I was in a strange place because this wasn't a new land, I have been here plenty of times, the only thing that was different is instead of my whole family staying here at court it was just me. I could tell the Philip was trying to prove himself with me but this was still new I wanted to see how things were going to be in a few weeks. We moved through the halls and everything just seemed to be a little surreal. We made it to my bedroom door and Philip opened the door and let me walk in. Once inside the room I sat down on the lounge and Philip came over and sat down next to me.

"I am grateful for your parents because of how much they are going out of their way to make me feel welcomed. This is just something new for me and it will take me a little to feel comfortable here."

"I understand and I am not going to push you to do anything you don't want too. I do want you to know that you don't just have my sister to talk too. I didn't do it in the past but I am here now."

"Thank you Philip I know things were difficult but just give me time. I am feeling tired so I should head to bed."

Philip stood up and headed out of the room. The servants came in and helped me get changed into my night dress. Once I was changed I got into bed and just laid there I didn't know if I would be able to fall asleep tonight. I just kept tossing and turning and looking out the window. After what felt like only a few minutes of sleep I heard someone knock on the door. I got up and threw on a robe.

"Sorry Miss I didn't mean to disturb you. Breakfast will be served in a few minutes and I was making sure that you didn't need help getting ready."

"Oh yes sorry I must have over slept."

She came into my room and walked over to the wardrobe to pick out a dress. Once she found a dress I agreed on, she came over and helped me to start getting changed. I was hoping no one would be mad that I was running late. I knew that everyone was strict on time and this was a poor decision on my part because I should have made sure that I was up on time. I got dressed and walked fast to the dining hall, making sure to not run through the halls. I walked into the room and everyone turned towards me, making me sightly blushed because I was embarrassed by running late.

"I am so sorry that I am late."

I went to my seat and sat down next to Elizabeth. I didn't know if I should sit some where else and figured it would be best to just get into a seat and not bring too much more attention to myself.

"Did you sleep well last night?"

Philip was looking at me and I wondered how awful I looked for him to be looking at me like that. If my mind would have turned off last night then I would have been able to get some sleep and not having to worry how I looked.

"It was a rough night last night. I just fell asleep right before I woke up for breakfast. That is why I was running late but I will make sure that it doesn't happen again."

"Don't worry about it. Lily it happens to the best of us. We don't all make it on time. Just ask Elizabeth she is always running late. Why don't you get a nap after breakfast. You did need to get your sleep."

I smiled. Catherine was acting just like my mom which was nice during this transition time we were all in. The servers brought out the meal and it didn't take long for us to get through the meal. After eating and talking, Catherine sent me back to my room to get rest. She wanted to make sure that I got the rest I needed to stay healthy. I was walking through the halls back to my room and I passed a few servants and smiled and said hi. It seemed to take them a little by surprise that I was going out of my way to say hi. I made it back to my room and walked over to my bed and laid down. It didn't take long to fall asleep this time.
